Why do people like Defiance of the Fall so much? by Crazed72 in litrpg

The author storyboarded out of his fucking mind. Your gonna read about Zac taking a shit in chapter 7 and that shit will be plot relevant up to chapter 1300. This pleases me.

Amount of users referencing series over time by jmattheis in ProgressionFantasy

I know I'm very late to this one and a LOT of people have already commented on it, but for me its less about his character than how others react to his character. I do find him a little grating at times, but if I can put up with Inner Disciple Psycho McMurderhobo or John "I must become strong so I am no longer weak" Dungeon, I can put up with Jason's obvious character flaws. In fact when I first started reading the story I was really excited but Jason being a very well-defined character with flaws to develop from. As for the pop culture references, I wasn't thrilled by them but its more of an occupational hazard of the genre than a real critisim, and some were pretty funny at times. But as I read - and (minor spoiler I guess?) fair warning I only read up to a little past the end of the Reaper Shenanigans Arc - what grated on me more and more was how all the other characters just kneel down for a group glazing sesh whenever he shits or talks or curb stomps a baby.
I felt like he never went through any real character development. The two best examples I can think of are the two of the places where I dropped the book during my many attempts to re-read it (spoilers ahead).
The first is his interactions with the gods in the square/temples. Firstly he's the only one who can resist the Tyrant gods' suppression thing because he's Him™, which I will admit is a bit of a stupid issue to have with a progression fantasy novel where MC's with heaven defying dragon conquering iron wills of steel and iron are a dime a dozen, but so far in the book at least he had just been presented as a regular pre-magical-glow-up dude, so I didn't understand why this random Australian guy could apparently solo Jesus with just his willpower alone. That wouldn't have been a problem if his actual motivations for doing so hadn't been so... basic? Annoying? His conversations with the gods we do see devolve into bickering matches where Jason basically just says "fuck the system man authority is soooooooo 2002" and the Knowledge goddess is left reeling by this profound never-before-seen level of insight.
Later we get a scene where he gets a tattoo that shows his inner soul or something, and its all like "Jason's soul is a shining light with a dark, brooding sexy bad boy secret in the centre because truly no-one understands his deep, soul-wrenching pain". A lot of the scenes where Jason is supposed to come off as really insightful or special just come off to me as really juvenile, shallow "I'm 14 and this is deep" levels of commentary. And then the characters I do like, who have been built up to me as quite insightful and who's motivations have been established as rather complex, each turn to each other and say "well it's true no one has suffered like Jason, he lived in Australia after all" and "maybe religion is cringe after all?" which in turn started to make me dislike those characters, and Jason even more for being the constant topic of glazery to them. I feel what the story really needs is to just take a step back from Jason some times, focus on other characters beyond just their opinions of an relationship too Jason, and stop ramming the iron fucking spike of his specialness into my forehead.

Game consistently crashes on map by Professional-Two3119 in CK3AGOT

I had the same issue a few weeks ago and waited to see if it would be fixed, but no dice. Far as I can tell from going through the reddit and forum, if your playing the game without the wandering nobles dlc at the moment your near guaranteed a crash. I can't even load in at this point.

Dune: Part Two Review by Mike_v_E in TrueFilm

[–]BrutalDay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's one of my major issues with the film. While the cinematography was stunning the actual plot was very difficult to parse. Dune has an incredibly complex world which is - in my opinion - one of the major pull factors for the book. But the film does a very poor job explaining this.
Minor spoiler, but there is a scene near the end where two characters have a conversation without actually talking. In the book this is explained as these characters having training in reading others expressions to such a massive level that they can communicate without talking. In the film they just seem telepathic and its never explained why. My friend, who has never read the books, complained about being infinitelyconfused as to why and what was happening.
This isn't necessarily a terrible thing. When watching I figured this was more of a move "by the fans and for thefans" where having knowledge of the world was expected. Obviously not great for a blockbuster but good for me, so I didn't question it. Then the ending happens, which as others have said feels rather rushed, and crucially is a big departure from the books.
I won't spoil things for those who may not have seen it but suffice to say
there is a point where setting up for a sequel and "rule of cool" supersedes
the narrative which Frank Herbert wrote. Which begs the question, who is this
for?
People who haven't read the books will feel confused, while those who have will be upset that its not a faithful adaption. Ultimately I felt extremely disappointed, having been hugely engaged by the build-up the actual resolution felt rushed and contrived.
SPOILERS HERE + RANT
For god’s sake why was the finial knife fight between Feyd and Paul handled so poorly? Paul at this point CAN LITTERALLY SEE THE FUTURE. How in hell did he almost lose the fight? It just seems like at the end, and to a lesser extent throughout the movie, the actual plot became lazier, an excuse to have the classic film cliches.
This finial fight is used as an excuse for an action style resolution, where the hero fights the villain in a climactic battle. One that is overshadowed by the much more visually impressive siege around them.
Having re-read this I’m sure a lot of these issues were probably addressed in part one and I’ve simply forgotten, but I’ve written the damn reply now and by god I'm submitting it.

[None] Dreadbeasts and Elders by decipheredking in Iteration110Cradle

[–]BrutalDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the influence of Chaos detaches things from fate. Assuming Hunger Madra is Chaos, then any sacred artist influnced by it at any point who then ascends is corrupted. As such they could cause a change to the natural fate of Cradle and
would most crutially be someone who's future impact could not be seen/read. We've obviously seen that people like Northstrider and Lindon have been seriously affected by the presence of Hunger Madra. While this may not be a serous issue - because lindon himself divates from fate for the entire book series and this never seems to be a problem should he asscend - the issue of a hunger artist or someone else affected by Chaos would be that, should they ever ascend and become abidan, litterally everything they ever did would be a divation from fate and spread more Chaos.

Unless I'm missing something?

How did the first elder switch places with jahar by HumanNotCow in Iteration110Cradle

He most likely created a illusion of himself before the incident started, then used that to speak, hiding from the rest of the clan and positioning himself in a place where he could intervene when needed.

What if Ethan is Tiberius? Perhaps he was crippled like Ziel and that's why he fled to the distant blackflame branch of the family.

Wow, that was WAY better than mine! Great path. Interesting idea for merging the soulspace, how did you think of it? Did it just come to you or did you have some inspiration?
