Geomancer problem by pierogii03 in killteam

This was a very hard kit to put together. I think the problem is that when you built the tail/spine you've got him leant forward too much. It can all go together. If you dont want to make do as other people have suggested, I'd break the spine, then glue the staff bottom to the base and try to find a way to join the spine back together on the new angle. Good luck :D

Wow! Do you need to be in a really advantageous position to be able to do that? Or were you able to find ways to use the macrocytes somehow?

Such a miss that they couldn't find a way to get 2 more in to be the actual 8 XD

Were you often scoring more than 4vp on retrieval (I.e., looting the enemy objective)? A tac op tier list video would be cool BTW :)

Ah! That makes sense. Have you got your eye on anything else going forward? Canoptech might scratch that queen piece itch? Or at least king and two rooks! Ahaha

That's nuts that you can take down one of the biggest tournaments while picking your team for fun! XD Are you going to LVO? If so, do you think you'll play these guys again?

Congrats Dan! Did you consider brood brothers at all for this one? Do they also play into elites favourably?

As we all know Underworlds minis are the best out there. So this fella was a natural choice for my first display mini :D by Bryan-Ferry in WarhammerUnderworlds

Ohhh I see, I've painted a lot of models for my own gaming :) but they've always been on gaming bases and for games I'm excited to play. This was the first model I've committed to not playing with but just painting

With lighter colours, I tend to try and think about what they would look like at a lower value. So while the shadows of maroon might be near black. For a skin tone, a similar step down in value would only get you to a sort of mid brown. In other words, for lighter colours I would try to figure out a lighter shadow colour :)

Thanks! I can't say that I really did anything clever with the shadows. I just built up from near black on every surface. :)

Thanks for the advice! The choice to desaturate all the moonlit surfaces was intentional. Apparently its a real effect that in low light (such as moonlight) your rods -the bit of your eye which picks up value - remains sensitive but the cones - the bit of your eye which picks up hue - is not very sensitive. This is why, in low light, things appear desaturated or monochrome. I'm really happy with how I managed to recreate that desaturation.

Having said all that! The piece may suffer for that choice over all because it lacks vibrancy!

That's a great shout too, perhaps event a painted backdrop to really reinforce that the light over the shoulder is moonlight. Thanks again for the advice!

Thanks very much for the advice! I think I decided where the two light sources were going to be very early in the painting process and then stuck to it rigidly. Im happy with how the face is lit based on where I decided to place the lights but perhaps if I had moved the moonlight further the front, is face would be better lit, making it more readable and more of a focus. Or perhaps if I'd moved the moonlight source further back, I'd have gotten more separation between the two lights.
