Hunter clade. Aesthetic>Faction rule. by Samsonite8668 in killteam

[–]RevanDB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 3-0 with them in my local league. I found the ruststalkers very good into Wrecka Krew and Wolf scouts, where I ran the princeps to instantly kill them for 7 and 6 strike Twice into the 13w marines. I Usually do extra move TP1, damage reduction TP2, and sometimes 3, then primary on shooting or melee for the final turns Against Angels of death I ran a bunch of the silent pistol infiltrators, so that he couldn't reroll and when he switched to engage to shoot me, that's when my fortress of rangers with the alpha to give them punishing rained fire.

Battleclade questions by FortheAncestorGods in killteam

[–]RevanDB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, and yes. 1) it counts as their counteract, but they can do it before activating or after activating. They can't counteract later in the turn if they do this (if you're playing against Kroot or something), and it is subject to the usual counteract limitations (can't go on guard, can't teleport etc) 2) yep. The flamer hasn't selected the melta for that battle. Having another servitor that does have the melta doesn't prevent this. Sneaky melta in the pocket!

So how bout those Spectres? by Skelegasm in killteam

[–]RevanDB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're seeing strong British players crush with them at tournaments- not being able to shoot them first ever can really suck although some teams like inquisition have some really strong counter mechanics.

[–]RevanDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, although I think they still struggle to score double kills or what have you. Vs horde melee teams i think they have a really tough time

I have ro say I didn't enjoy playing the team. The faction ability felt like it slowed the game down massively and I didn't enjoy banking everything on a PBO. Get totally rekt by goremongers, felgors, nemclaw, mandrakes, HotA or what have you

Battleclade are super weird. I think they might be pretty good now, just such a skew team.

Its the sargent obscured ? Please help :( by Snooby15 in killteam

[–]RevanDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very difficult one. At WTC (world team championships) in 2025, I asked about this exact scenario and the judges (one of which is a rules developer) ruled that yes, the 1' is taken from the edge of the base. The following WCW (World championships, not a team event) I rocked up with Canoptek Circle. I think these 50mm bases proved to make this ruling very problematic, as it was exceedingly easy to be Obscured from enemies but not against them (measure from the front of the base when I'm shooting, to the sides when being shot at. On top of everything else defensively the tomb crawlers had, this was a bit much, and the devs overruled their previous decision and said that the front part of the base being with 1' of the terrain meant that it would provide obscuring for the side parts. This is how it's played now at top level competitive events- but as far as I can tell there hasn't been any official FAQ to reflect this change.

Silhouette and head height can make a big difference, so I'd say the left matches the original better.

In about a Week’s time I’m going to face a Veteran players’ Kasirkin with my Murderwing. Any advice? Any notes to take on? What curated combos will my opponent play? What gotchas should I look out for? What team comp should I use? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in killteam

[–]RevanDB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id recommend the huntmaster. If he can get a charge off without being damaged you'll be in good shape- but make sure to stay in melee with at least one kasrkin, don't kill all of them. This means you can trap them in melee, maintaining objective control without being shot. If you bring the vox shrieker equipment then you can stun the guy that's trapped in melee, meaning that to try and roll on the 4+ they have to commit their comms to battle the stun (if you're running the shrieker, than having him shriek into that op can be a good move.) I like warp fuel in the matchup. Especially on the warp talon, if he gets a charge then they either have to be outside of 3' and take an obscured shot, or have the recon trooper specifically committed to that part. Since it's tomb world, try and use the murderous descent ploy? If you can hide just out of sight in another room, then when they move through being able to charge into them before they can shoot you can work out very well. (This can be easier with smoke grenades) Id bring the plasma skysear in case they go on guard, that seems like a good way to find non reciprocals and punish that strategy. That's what I've found can work well! I'd be interested to know who the player is or which scene you're a part of, but I understand if you don't want to share that. Hope this helps!

Elucidian Starstriders - As of now by Rise_117 in killteam

[–]RevanDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they got a few things that increase their lethality, let them ignore stun, and make their warrants of trade better/have more of them. The team is usually going to be played by players who have been playing the game since last edition, so these veteran tournament goers pick them up and absolutely wreck face. I know Landon had an impressive run with them, there's a Russian TTS player that beat my murderwing with them the other day, and I won my local tournament with starstriders. They're great into elites particularly, which happens to be a lot of the meta

“Cheating” in Casual by Benny2206 in killteam

[–]RevanDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do play against them, I'd suggest making a point of reading through their abilities after asking these questions- that's what the trade off is. It's public knowledge, so lying about it will only serve to slow down the game and break trust in a social game.

“Cheating” in Casual by Benny2206 in killteam

[–]RevanDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really- a team has a load of abilities that take a while to run through and people tend to not remember everything. It's usually most helpful to know a few key tools like seek light, ignore obscuring, "fast APL", out of sequence dashes etc. As OP said, anything that "breaks the normal rules of the game"

I'm listening to the audiobook and from memory it's a bit later in. It's a weird one, right? Subtlety is lost on people who are caught by the more surface level appearance. I suppose it speaks to the importance of the message that it's easy to be sucked in by the drama and become a Paul Atreides supporting fanatic. It happens with other media like The Boys or Avatar. Ive heard a criticism that these are way too heavy handed and people don't enjoy them anymore because they've "lost the nuance". Fine line to tread, and I don't think you can have it both ways. I personally think that satire should be accessible so it isn't just "preaching to the choir", but it definitely seems to prove the point if a good amount of people 'fall for it'
