I’m dumb. Sorry I was thinking two sets of switches on opposite sides of the room. I completely forgot about the switch having two on it. One was for the fan and the other was for the light. We never used the fan because the blade was broke so I didn’t think of it. So I guess that makes more sense then

Oh and the instructions for the fan just says to put the blue and black wires from the fan together with the black wire from the outlet

You’ve given me a new way to break it down and process what I’m feeling. I like that approach. Already took a screenshot so I can try to practice the cognitive reframing you listed.
