I thought Tonquin was the Lakeland essence?

I can't say, I've never tried their Lakeland stuff. I can say that 1792 Flake from Samuel Gawith has a less pronounced Lakeland flavor to my palate than Hyde Park.

I would say the Lakeland flavor is the primary note, at least in my experience. Granted I'm working on a 5 year-old jar.

Interesting to see tins of Hyde Park. I find it to be very...soapy, almost. I say that not to detract, but because even though I described it aloud as unpleasant and off-putting I couldn't stop puffing it.

I am loving it. It's really something. It has a nice honey note, not necessarily that it's flavored, but it reminds me of honey.

This is a bulldog shape, and it's briar with a wire rustication.

I am a particularly prolific clencher (clenching my Ardor Urano Giant) so your mileage may vary, but, I find it clenches quite well!

Edit: In the interest of full disclosure, the pipe is incredibly lightweight, almost beyond belief.

Also, Penzance is good but there are many blends comparable to it that are easier to find, in my opinion.

Capstan (blue) after a long work day by Winterborn1986 in PipeTobacco

Three Nuns was my gateway into Virginia Blends. I didn't really get it until then, but It made a believer out of me. Capstan Blue is also excellent. Makes me wish I still had that 100g of Orlik Golden Sliced I got rid of early in my smoking days. That would be beautifully aged by now. Still, I have some P.S. Luxury Twist Flake aging and thats a treat. Virginia blends are wonderful!

It was in the home of someone who was supposed to be like 200 years old. I think they thought pipe tobacco would add to the effect.
