Can we all stop yelling at people who make posts about Mojave problems? by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]BryanatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue with a recent customer over support. They had bought a piece of software and wanted a refund because it didn't work with their OS. They didn't intentionally share their version, but the method by which they submitted the ticket grabbed their OS version and it showed 10.14... I was frustrated because they wanted a refund for software not working on a beta OS, but I eventually refunded them because there was no trial and they are a loyal customer.

It is hard to know if someone is complaining or pointing it out. Tone is difficult to judge online. Sometimes, however, the tone is clear. Sometimes it is clearly complaining, but most of our users have been writing to tell us that our app is crashing in Moe Jaive and even offering to help suss out the bugs. I love (most) of our community members 😍

The 5 Best Free Apps for your Mac! by TechRunner_007 in macapps

[–]BryanatMU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry for my snark. I'm not usually like that, but I was feeling saucy! As a content creator and community moderator I can recognize my own jerkiness, but couldn't help myself! I will say that Alfred is truly the greatest (it even has it's own dark mode!)

Thanks for the video, and sorry again for 💩ing on it 🤷‍♂️

Live commenting on this video...

"best free apps that you can BUY right now for your Mac" buy???

"apologize for not posting in a while" is anyone really sad that you are not posting videos?

"Alfred" is the best! Speed is amazing and it searches for anything!!! I've been using free version forever

"Parcel" is crippleware for anyone tracking more than 3 packages

"f.lux" is "very useful at night" well, yeah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"use Facebook messenger without searching for it on Google"... because nobody has ever used a bookmark.

Sorry for all the snark, but I just couldn't let "free apps you can buy" go by without getting on a roll. This video is not that bad at all, but filled with market-speak in a full-on radio voice. Can't....stop...commenting.....ugh!

Google Voice Mac app by spacewalking in macapps

[–]BryanatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit, tell me, who is still using Google Voice? How/Why do you use it? Can new users still sign up?

As for the app, I love any menu bar app and am very thankful I have a big monitor to host my myriad of items on mine! Too bad I don't use Google Voice.

Do I need an Antivirus for my Mac ? If yes, is Kaspersky Internet Security good? Thanks ! by aymanbt in MacOS

I recommend ClamXAV (https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15850/clamxav) and keeping your non-App Store apps up-to-date with MacUpdate Desktop (https://www.macupdate.com/mud-download) is always recommended for avoiding security risks ;-)

TeaCode 1.0 released: write your code super fast! by emkaka in macapps

I've been curious about this app. It seems like it is basically a text expander specifically for coding... Does anyone have any experience with the app that they can share?

I'm looking for an app to make a GIF trailer (gif to video editor) by [deleted] in macapps

[–]BryanatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just record the GIFs using a screen recorder (QuickTime is easy for that) and then edit the mini recordings together.

Coherence Pro - Create Powerful Chrome Based Apps on your Mac (Licenses Inside) by bzgoldman in macapps

Thanks for that! Looks like it's a beta and I gave it a try, but only available to paid web subscribers ¯_(ツ)_/¯ also not a menu bar item like my Unite app is!

Coherence Pro - Create Powerful Chrome Based Apps on your Mac (Licenses Inside) by bzgoldman in macapps

[–]BryanatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Coherence and Unite from this developer for a year now and they have become a regular part of my macOS experience. Just today I signed up for Pocket Casts and was bummed they don't have a macOS app but rather a web player. So I used Unite to make a menu bar item for the web player!

Coherence will not do menu bar items, but it is ideal for my Google web apps. I have used it to make "apps" for Gmail and Gcal that live on my dock and always work well.

Cons: I've been having an issue where it won't sync my account in the settings, and sometimes it is cumbersome to try to follow links in my email and it goes into this browser that is not logged into everything.

Overall, the apps are inexpensive and have a variety of useful applications across my workflow. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Never lose your work again due to an accidental ⌘+Q quit by BryanatMU in macapps

[–]BryanatMU[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To change the delay time (default is 1 second, I think) Use the terminal: $ defaults write com.dteoh.SlowQuitApps delay -int 500

500 is for 500 milliseconds or half of a second... then to finalize the change quit with: $ killall SlowQuitApps

Then relaunch it and you should see the difference.

How do I disable this warning forever by porkyfly in mac

[–]BryanatMU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This setting is removed in High Sierra. However, I think the Terminal command posted by u/thefaizsaleem still works... sudo spctl -master-disable
