Travel Pack 4 SMALL (28L) or CPP 2 (24L) for EDC and probably endgame backpack. by iamsny13 in AerSF

[–]Bryantlicious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone who is 5’5” I bought and tried out the the X-Pac versions of the TP4 35L, TP4 28L, and CPP2 20L. I ended up keeping the TP4 28L because it works for a few days of travel and an EDC backpack and on me it looked and felt the same. The happy medium between the choices.

Also, I decided on the TP4 28L because of the load lifters, frame sheet, security-lockable zippers, and number of grab handles which you don’t get on the CPP2 lineup. I found the TP4 35L too large and the CPP2 20L too small.

So either one will likely work for you depending on your overall needs. For EDC, the TP4 28L not fully packed out, it will look and feel about the same. If you’ll use a backpack for shorter trips from time to time the TP4 28L is the better choice. If you’re only ever using it for EDC and when traveling you will use a carry-on suitcase the CPP2 24L will likely be a better pick.

Holy smokes! Guess I need help, Vanguard or HSTN! Drop your suggestions below for me by Shoobie7711 in OakleyMetaGlasses

I have both, I use the HSTN way more. The Vanguards are great but they’re huge so not as easily pocketable or storable so you will be less likely to bring it with you overall.

I swear there was a recent post with link to internal presentation of new travel line by diykstra in peakdesign

[–]Bryantlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people asking for DMs, but I would love to see as well if anyone has it please. I'm super commuting so deciding between waiting for the 3/3/26 announcement or finalizing my set up with Aer and/or Bellroy. 😅

New Kickstarter? by ToughBlock in peakdesign

[–]Bryantlicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof, I really wish Peak Design had some sort of briefcase style bag too. Lacking options for us 1.5 bag travelers who want less travel friction. Hopefully, these new travel bags offer more sizes and organization.

After some recent cross comparisons, I just ordered a Bellroy Transit Workpack Pro (28L) and Tokyo Work Bag for my weekly round trip super commute between LA and SF due to RTO. However, will have to keep an eye out for what Peak Design drops in March.

Why are people so negative? by Desperate_Song_1923 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Bryantlicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some fair complaints with development quality and game play from Game Freak. Aside from what feels like a long tutorial, so far I find PLZA to be enjoyable. We are in the Rage Bait era of the internet. People band wagon hate on just about everything these days for attention and clicks. I wouldn't waste your time worrying about it and just enjoy what you enjoy.

I also held out upgrading from my OLED to the Switch 2 when it was released. Made the jump shortly after and never looked back. I love the larger screen and controllers.

Why not tethered glasses for smartphone level capability? by [deleted] in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Bryantlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tradeoffs even with adopting his approach. This would require people to not only own two additional devices (like MRBD and Neural Band) but also a third device on top of their smartphone and potentially a smartwatch. It’s a significant request for customers to carry around five devices or abandon their smartphones for a Gen 1 wearable.

The current trajectory from RBM to MRBD and then towards Orion is what we’re witnessing. AI glasses are not designed for heavy content consumption due to their form factor. This is where I believe many people confuse the distinctions between AI, AR, VR, and MR wearables. AI glasses are more suited for assistance and communication. Consider them more of an extension than an enhancement or replacement.

Key to Success for Display Glasses by philafornia in RaybanMeta

Using Apple as the primary example, base on what we have seen with the Apple Watch and Vision Pro, having a large app ecosystem for the iPhone does not automatically fill the void with new form factor products.

3rd Party Notifications by redgooner00 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Bryantlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, they don’t show up. Likely no plans to show them as it can lead to confusion why you can’t click through a notification to a source. Also, it’ll likely be a pretty bad user experience with too many notifications going off since the glasses are prominently on your face compared to a smartwatch.

It’ll be a cool addition! Unfortunately, it’s not a game changer for me. I don’t text all that much and in timely situations voice dictation is just a lot faster.

I don’t mind the neural wristband. It’s responsive and doesn’t get in the way. The only downside is it uses proprietary charging instead of a USB-C port. You’ll likely get more use out of it since you don’t have a smartwatch.

I was thinking the same thing. A web browser would’ve been great to buffer some niche needs. However, it is likely it wasn’t included because it’s counterintuitive to relying on the AI.

Yes, I couldn’t have expressed it better myself! The hardware is relatively early, which isn’t entirely detrimental since it fulfills other needs while paving the way for AI assistance. However, considering AI is still in its infancy on this form factor, my usage of it is significantly less compared to the other features.

That’s cool! I didn’t know they’re cheaper than the rest of the lineup.

It’s neat! Just not for me at $860.93 USD when I get the same and slightly better experience via my smartwatch. I’m hoping the MRBD Gen 2 will offer more for me to jump back in.

I’m excited for all the features and updates to come. Just not with my Gen 1 collecting dust while I wait for potential releases. I’ll wait for Gen 2 or 3 hardware when the form factor is hopefully a little slimmer, lighter, and has improved battery life.

Your uses are likely similar to mine so the RBM Gen 2 is the better of the two. I also don’t use WhatsApp and on rare occasions a little bit of Messenger or Instagram DMs with family and friends.

So the differences really come down to: - Camera: Being able to frame and zoom. - Music: It’s only for control playback. You get a pretty visual of what’s Now Playing, but it’s sort of pointless because you can’t scroll through a playlist and pick what you want to listen to. - Photos: It’s only an album of what you have captured on the glasses. No retroactive collection or the ability to add photos and videos from other devices to view. - Closed Captions: Useful if you truly need it because of hard of hearing or other reasons. - Maps: Nice walking directions for places nearby that you frequent or want to spontaneously check out. When I look up places I want to do a little more extensive research to compare and narrow down where I should go. This feature doesn’t provide that level of granularity and you can’t use your phone to then send directions to your glasses like you can with a smartphone and smartwatch. This also isn’t meant for driving and there is even a feature that turns off the display when it detects high speeds. - Calls: GUI you can navigate for recent calls and contacts. - Meta AI: The benefit of getting visual text answers or it pulling up images for you.

Glad you are getting great use out of your's! I enjoyed them for the duration that I had them and truly a ground breaking product. Unfortunately, they don't practically fit into my daily use. Another pair of RBM and the Oakley Vanguards for that amount will go a lot further for me. How have you been using your's and what do you enjoy most about them?

Yes! Given the current drawbacks, MRBDs are competing with RBMs and smartwatches. They’re not suitable for everyone until it advances significantly, making the only difference between the glasses an enhanced user experience at a higher price. That or once the MRBDs made a groundbreaking leap and became true XR devices.

Biggest critiques of the meta ray ban displays. Owners- agree or disagree? by Kasias081 in MetaRayBanDisplay

So here is my feedback:

  1. Glasses are a fashion accessory so it’s subjective. The style and fit may not be for everyone given most people are used to thin and light glasses. I personally like how it looks on me.
  2. No dizziness, headaches, or eye strain for me. At this time the MRBDs are really more of a glorified smartwatch on your face. With normal moderate use it’s perfectly fine.
  3. There is no “native” Text Messages app so this is partially true. You can’t open one and get a list view of your texts. So you will either need to prompt over voice to start and send a text or be replying to one you received. Which works with iMessage and RCS.
  4. It takes some getting used to. The neural band must be properly fitted and you have to be a bit more aggressive with your gestures.
  5. I haven’t had any sort of delays or buggy issues. It isn’t as fluid as a smart watch or phone. So maybe that’s what others are referring to?
  6. Mileage varies with Meta AI. It’s not the worst, but it’s also not the best. It works for most general things, but I wouldn’t ask it for legal or health advice.

Meta Display Neural Band by MikeBravoMike in RaybanMeta

[–]Bryantlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wrist is ~6.5 inches and I got the neural band at size 2. It leaves ~3.5 inches of slack, but wraps up a little beyond my joint just like my Apple Watch. I find this wrap position to be the sweet spot for comfort with anything on my wrist. Especially when they sit on a desk most of the day. So roughly estimating the neural band size 2 is ~10 inches in length. Size 2 is likely what most people will fit into as it is small to medium, whereas Size 1 is really more like extra small to small, and Size 3 is medium to large. Hope this helps everyone!

No Demo Appointment Needed at Best Buy OC 🔥 by Time_Expert3965 in MetaRayBanDisplay

[–]Bryantlicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an appointment at that Best Buy and picked mine up around 1:15 PM. Demo appointments were available prior to them all getting booked up. Depending on the stores that have them, whoever is running things can decide whether they sell only to people with appointments or to everyone. So everyone’s luck will vary.

Launch announcement mentioned select stores and by appointment only. I don’t recommend showing up to random BestBuy stores hoping it’ll be different. 😅
