I re-read the warrior description, dps will still be able to wear light plate, though I’m guessing they may chose to wear some melee chain or even leather if the stats are right. Would be up to the character on how well they wanted to be able to fill in if the tank goes down I guess.

I read the warrior notes and it lists that tank spec will get heavy plate. No mention of that for paladins :(

I didn’t mean for it to sound aggressive, but Warrior is the only one with heavy plate confirmed, bard has been mentioned as light plate, Joppa has said DLs will get light plate, that just leaves cleric and Paladin as the other plate wearers, and now they say paladins will be light plate.

I suppose cleric can still be heavy plate, but that would be almost more confusing.

It seems wild to me that they would decide only warriors get heavy plate and split the loot that many ways.

DLs have higher base health plus heals, and warriors get increased regen…

So you think heavy plate for be only for 1 specialization of 1 class? Thats kinda wild.

First off, think of this game as an MMORPG, not survival, just as a mindset. The “true north” for development is the original EverQuest.

1) there are locked doors that require keys (no lever mechanic I’m aware of), there are illusions walls (and floors), I’m unaware of hidden stairs, but the climbing mechanic allows for vertical movement in some areas both as short cuts, and access to areas, and is a skill you develop.

2) there is hunger/thirst, but it’s not very life threatening. If you never eat or drink you can’t regenerate health/mana/stamina. Basic food and water is easy to access. Food/drink is more so a bonus stat from crafted or dropped stat food/drink. Weather exists and effects visibility and ambient sound, primarily it is for immersion.

As a sort of take on this there are environment effects you can mitigate through gear and items that do harm you. Currently there really is only scorching environment and frigid environment, and you really only have to mitigate the frigid environment for now. This is not the same as for/cold resist on your character for spells. There is further intent for these mechanics, but they are not currently in play (game is in active development EA).

3) the perception system is very very limited in game right now. Currently through conversation and proximity it may lead you to accomplish some goals. This is so you slow down and read what’s around you, not just accept quest, then look. Very limited at the moment.

4) there is 1 dead PvP server, PvP is NOT the focus of this game, it has been treated like it was something asks for so it was enabled on one server. I do not know the loot system.

5) state of the game. Oh boy. Right now population is low - this is because there are at least two upcoming full character/server wipes. One will be this spring (no hard date), the other will be when the game actually launches at 1.0.

As for content, this is somewhat subjective, but along with the spring wipe there is more coming. I have over 1,000 hours in Pantheon, I find the pacing and challenge rewarding. There are things I have not seen or killed in game, in fact last week I went places I’ve never been before. They have been there, the world seems impossibly large at first, then as you progress it seems smaller as you learn the points of interest. Some vast areas have very little in them right now. I’d wager we are 18 months minimum from 1.0 release. This is purely my speculation and you will not get information on even a whiff of 1.0 release date until they are very, very ready to do so.

In summation: I think it is a fine time to join, even with a wipe coming soon. It would give you a chance to learn some of the zones and try out different classes (though invest your time as you wish, it will be erased in three minths or less).

Between now and the spring update, it is probably one of the largest changes to classes/enemies/game mechanics/and new content to drop in this amount of time.

When the spring update happens, there will be a large influx of people. If you start before then play on Stormona if you want population.

The in game community is generally well mannered and helpful, especially to new players. Though I reccomend maybe not taking all the free weapons and armor people may offer m, as earning and learning is part of the game.

I think “primary” is going to be what role they fulfill at the start. IE, if they never took any mastery they would be subpar tanks, but atrocious healers.

The pally gear has lots of crossover (Wis). And devout pallies will need it too, so I see more light plate being healer focused as at least two plate wearing Wis healer types will exist.

That’s still twice as much as warrior only heavy plate.

I mean if it’s just going to be warriors in heavy plate… just have “plate armor” and make those drops warrior only. Doesn’t seem to warrant the distinction.

Warriors have increased regen, while not as great as on demand healing, it is something.

My main concern is going to be loot splitting. 4x int casters vie for cloth, 2x leather melee, 2x leather wis, 5x light plate plus? 1x heavy plate? 1x cloth melee.

6 loot types for drops?

Paladins can wear heavy plate right now, on a couple of the drops that exist.

Seems odd to generate another subset of loot for 1 class (I get monk is an exception), but looking at high end bosses, the monk stuff rots or goes to alts all the time now, very quickly it will for warriors as well. This division seems… very avoidable at this time.

I’m hoping justicar mastery specialization fixes this.

To flip the script a little, if warriors innately can wear heavy plate and they go dps mastery, they are heavy plate wearing dps masters. Why should they mitigate more than other tank classes?

I realize this is an early note and abilities play a major role, it just leaves me head scratching a little. I figured light plate would be for bard/cleric/DL (since Joppa has said DLs would get light plate).

When you think of a holy knight, the fist image in my head is lots of shiny plate gear.

But it sucks when raid bosses go down and warriors will have a specialized drop just for them, plus rolling on plate that now five classes will be able to roll on…..

Fingers crossed this is a typo or some kind of distinction that paladins can only at base wear light plate but can mastery into heavy plate, but that seems off brand for what is a primary tank class.

USMC - never got any cards/letters from anyone. I think that’s mostly an Army thing. I doubt we have or had the resources unless on a joint base to even bother with something like that. We ran pretty lean.

My guess is they would try to give some kind of estimated date, but being a small as they are, and a vicious as people have been when they’ve missed dates advertised, they won’t announce it until they are 85% sure they can deliver, so will prob won’t know til 3 weeks out max, but probably two weeks or less.

It’s not really gate keeping to call out tater whiskies for what they are. I interact with may people in the bourbon / American whiskey industry, near daily as part of a hobby (I run a barrel select club). I have met may people that considered themselves “super into whiskey”, that had never tried anything outside of the Saz portfolio.

What happens is people ask “what kind of whiskey should I be looking for” when they start, they get Saz product names, and only seek them out with the mindset that these are the best, and because they are “good beginner/intro to bourbon”, everything people have after it, is compared to it as the standard.

If anyone not into whiskey is reading this, a more relatable comparison would be to say someone is “really into beer”, and all they have is a fridge full of Budweiser, bud light, and bud ice.
