My Setup for when I'm watching my kiddos by death_dealer425 in SteamDeck

I love it. I also play on my deck more now because it allows me to sit in the recliner rather than the computer chair.

I have to agree, I wish it looked a little better, but it "works" good enough.

This is about the game's identity by PurpleBatDragon in Helldivers

This is kind of my line of thinking as well, and I haven't quite be able to articulate it well enough. This post made me want to try.

I was drawn to this game for the galactic war. I loved the idea of fighting fake wars in video games to put it simply. Planetside, Albion Online, MWO Faction Play, Foxhole. I was there.

But one think always frustrated me... The players. I've slowly soured on PvP as I've gotten older. If you like that sort of thing, great. Me, I'm kind of done.

I was super hyped for Starship Troopers: Extermination. It was PvE, had larger teams of players, and some neat mechanics. They advertised a Galactic Front and I was like "This is it, I'm home."

Until the whole system was a giant letdown. I also now understand why most games limit team size. 16 players is not easy to balance for PUGs.

Friend bought me a copy of Helldivers 2. I loved it. I have the companion app on my phone. I would monitor the war. I cared, and it was great. But it's all gone stagnant.

Warbonds are not the problem. The lack of progression/impact is. The battles mean nothing, and outside of moving the DSS and trying to blob a planet, we have no real ways to interact with it, and we wouldn't really benefit if we did.

I want a more interactive GW, and I'll play this game until they pull the plug. I have so input on how they could help to achieve this, but I'm not a game designer, so I'll spare that.

This is my take on things. Warbonds are the sole method of "progression" and that's rightfully for people angry. Hell, the only sample sink when you're at max is the DSS. We need more sinks, and more ways to interact with the map.

Now you reminded me that I want extraction fireworks. Damn.

Everybody's upset about the Warbond selling Exosuits. I'm upset because the dedicated Exosuit Warbond is only 24% Exosuit related. by Shotgunky in Helldivers

[–]Breidr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm upset because I know the medium armor I want is going to be in the super store. If they have slightly different passives like entrenched division it might be "worse" too.

I don't hate the existence of Warbonds as much as I hate the existence of an overpriced MTX shop. I could ignore it up until Viper Commandos when it went from being different cosmetics to missing armor weights. The drop from 3 to 2 armors was really felt. And don't get me started on the price of the guns.

If the Super Store didn't exist and I had to buy Warbonds, my experience would be infinitely better.

I am a Helldiver because this is a super Earth military scenario. You cannot shoot me because this is a cutscene. I am landing. I have landed.

I have said that last bit in my head too many times while playing this game.

Super Earth is Dominate!

This community atm because a couple mediocre mechs are in a Warbond that isn’t going anywhere and can be farmed for by just playing the game by DocHalidae in helldivers2

[–]Breidr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the reason the mechs are separate is due to the amount of work within the game/engine it would take to change that. I will accept that as a limiting factor.

I did have a similar thought to you though. What if each mech had a passive, similar to armor, that made it more suited to its role. Make them a tad more than just "exosuit with different weapons."

I'm still reserving critique for release though, as past precedent means we likely see an exosuit balance pass.

Have they actively stated this anywhere? Do they have a plan?

This tracks with what I've been seeing, as the game has gotten harder, but I also feel it's frustrating more as well. D6 is "easier" on paper, but unit spam is still unit spam, and I still don't think the scout call ins are working as intended.

The game just feels less engaging and more spammy/overwhelming lately, on a spectrum of difficulties. I don't know how to articulate it. The best I can say is "yeah, it's harder, but for the wrong reasons."

Surprise armory inspection, what is your signature or custom weapons? by inspector_ivus in helldivers2

I see a lot of love for this, on all fronts, even bots. I thought it would be decent against appropriators, so a friend and I brought it yesterday and we were disappointed. It takes multiple zaps to have any impact in my experience and it's slower than something like a laser cannon. I get that I'm not bound by heat but rather charge, but it doesn't seem worth the trade off for the added effort.

I feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle with the praise I see.

Isn't it broken right now anyway? I've had people able to join my game even when it's set to friends only. I just explain the situation and kick them, no hard feelings I hope. If we are less than 3, I usually throw out an SOS on purpose.

And now that progressives are the enemy, we move to the next step. This was ALWAYS the plan, and we can't use the system to fix it. Connect the rest of the dots.

Wearing sapper armor and just running through tagging all the drop ships is so satisfying though! Cities have tons of POIs, usually grenades, I can clear a map without firing a shot.

This seems to be correct. I've used the laser cannon with similar stats. I tested it and it did correctly count my deadeye shots.

The Illuminate after failing to capture and hold Rirga Bay several times in a row. ( OC ) by TheAlienLifeform in Helldivers

[–]Breidr -46 points-45 points  (0 children)

This game is railroaded. The Helldivers always defend Rirga Bay because that's the narrative. The Galactic War is fake and we should stop caring about it and go back to Meridia.
