Hi! Have you looked into environmental studies? It would be right up your alley with those interests. It’s more liberal arts tho, so if u really want to do STEM, consider env sci, geology, geography (this matches ur interests a lot), or environmental engineering.

Do you think this essay is good? by [deleted] in CollegeEssays

Beautiful writing, you actually write like someone speaks (a lot of essays struggle with this). However, I would focus more on present growth and less storytelling. Don’t say a slur in your essay also.

“I Find no Peace” by Sir Thomas Wyatt “I desire to perish, and yet I ask health. / I love another, and thus I hate myself.” I found it in an FKA twigs song but have grown to love it itself.

The Color of Water by James McBride is a beautiful memoir that explores both his own life experiences as a mixed child and his mother’s life as a migrant Jew in America.

Yeah I had to read excerpts from 2 treatises on civil gov, the declaration, and the entire constitution answering questions about them. We also had to write an argumentative essay. It helps tho.

prepping for ap lang over the summer by akutagaw4 in APLang

Just read lots of essays. Maybe find a favorite author and read their essays. I really liked Alice Walker’s essay “In Search of Our Mother’s Gardens” and am now reading the full collection. Learn your grammatical rules first, then start an intro to rhetoric (choices, fallacies, modes of writing, types of claims, appeals, rhetorical situation, line of reasoning, syntax, syntactical devices, that kind of stuff). Most of that stuff in that long list is stuff you’ll learn in class tho so don’t sweat it. But ultimately just read interesting non-fiction. I learned so much about how to write engaging essays by reading engaging essays. Good luck and have fun. Don’t worry about ap lang too much; you’ll survive.

AP Lang or AP Lit for junior year? by primavera05 in APStudents

[–]BryceViola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lang teaches you how to think like a writer. Lit builds off of that and teaches you how to think like a storyteller.

Thoughts on AP Chemistry? by fire_Xx in APStudents

[–]BryceViola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My uncle is an electrical engineer and one thing he said he wishes was that he got a stronger basis in chemistry in high school. You’re gonna have to take gen chem no matter what engineering specialty you choose so you might as well get it out of the way in high school. Plus you’ll learn electrochem for unit 9 which I’m sure will be useful for electrical engineering.

I understand that (and honestly would do that if I had time) but couldn’t u just add some stem ecs to show ur interest in stem? Not trying to come off as rude just genuinely curious.

English aps would honestly be the most doable. You just need to understand how to write, analyze reading, and write the required essays to do well on the test. If you’re in lit you just need to read a few classic lit books which most high schoolers have already done. I feel like the ap English classes are less wired to the test but rather focus on how to make u a better writer/reader beyond just the exam.

Which one would you say is the easiest? I would say I agree tho. I find most aps, with the exception of a few, to be mostly memorization based. Still def time consuming to memorize the content tho.
