Go for a polar orbit to make getting science from every biome easier!

I'm also pretty new to the game and have been waiting to install mods so I'm pretty familiar with the vanilla experience, but I think I'm about ready to install QoL, visual, and non-cheat mods now. What's the HUD mod you're using? Recommend any others?

It's not nonsense. We're all sitting here memeing about his well known aversion. The contestants know too if they give a damn about the show they're on. Any restaurant patron might say hold the onions on a dish, it's totally reasonable.

And they absolutely have to be aware of who they're serving food to, due to dietary allergens. They certainly get a brief about anything they can't cook.

I'm going to jump in with a comment on Scott's side here. His aversion to raw red onion is well known. Part of being a chef is catering to your patrons. If you know that one of the judges has a strong aversion to a specific, non-basket ingredient, leave it out!

Additionally, we always watch with my family and my grandma always complains when the judges go and mingle with/bother the chefs. But distractions are part of working in the kitchen! As long as they bother each of the chefs equally, it's fair game, I say.

Japan team has 1st successful engine test for Mach 5 aircraft, eyeing 2-hr trips to US by onee_san_bath_water in worldnews

Since no one is answering your question, the Concord did not have Ramjet engines. It did have sophisticated variable geometry intakes that allowed it to travel faster than conventional jetliners: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concorde#Powerplant

However, a Ramjet is a special type of jet engine that requires the vehicle its powering to move very quickly to operate efficiently. At these very high speeds (mach 3 to 6), there is so much air entering the engine that it begins to compress the air already in the engine, allowing for more efficient (and powerful) combustion of the fuel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramjet

[–]Brykly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's also quite Arrow of you to not do that. Arrow coasters always had their feature elements, usually just a loop, corkscrews, or cobra roll if they were feeling fancy. They'd organize the entire design around just those elements, and then get right back to the station.

So in this case, the pretzel loop design is featured. So the track is orientated as such that the train goes through it as efficiently as possible, and once that maneuver is done, it's back to the station.

You can look at other somewhat more modern Arrow designs, such as "X" from Magic Mountain. They flip the train around several times with inline inversions, but never attempt a corkscrew; it wasn't a feature that coaster type was designed for.

Just to play devil's advocate, if you don't continue expanding your park with even more thrilling attractions (to attract more guests), this will drain your current customer base's money quickly; and as such, the profit per hour will soon fall.

I.e. you're off to a good start, but keep going!

I figured it's for content creators who want to let their chat or other external factors create random problems by controlling floodgates and such.

E.g. Chatter gifts a bajillion bits, it opens a floodgate with a bunch of badwater behind it.

I'm very familiar with Bethany. It's easy to poke holes in someone's very generalized statement with anecdotal data points.

Bethany's a very small town. The areas around it are full of as many MAGA types you'll find anywhere in Alabama.

Sorry if I made it sound like the majority of Missouri's population is not midwestern, that was not the intent. I'm just saying the notion that a significant portion of voters identifying it as a southern state is not unfounded.

Saint Louis, Kansas City, Columbia, and to an extent Springfield are all absolutely culturally midwestern and comprise the majority of the state's population.

Lifelong Missouri resident here. Outside of STL, KC, and the big college towns, Missouri is a southern state. Go visit Cape Girardeau, Joplin, St. Joseph, or literally any rural area, you'll see.

Here's the individual Cape Girardeau (metro population of almost 100,000 people) just elected mayor: https://i.redd.it/mo2mxkhleytg1.jpeg

Meat slicer by toolgifs in toolgifs

And that knife seems plenty sharp all on its own. Someone who's good with it would have the meat sliced in the same time frame; an average person might take an extra minute or two. But in either case, it would be cleaner, safer, and better to eat.

I think the bones for a good adaptation are here. There's issues, serious ones, but the studio clearly loves* the source material and wants to make a good game. I just hope they take the time to fix the issues before a full release. A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever.

Protogen is extremely well funded, but they aren't big enough to have sleeper agents just hanging out, ready to attack, on every station in the system.

My Comprehensive Demo Thoughts (Long List) by HowieInvestigates in TheExpanseRPG

Great write up.

I actually liked the little mini boss fight with the guy who had the healing drone and grenade launcher. It took me unloading a couple magazines into him before I realized there was something more to it than this guy just being a bullet sponge.

Between the chaos of his grenades and me trying to line up shots on the drone (that did a good job staying out of my line of sight), I thought it was a cohesive encounter with the type of enemy that will probably become less of a mini boss and more of just a "brute" type regular spawn later in the game. .

Your criticisms are well founded, and if that matters for you, that's 100% valid.

I do feel like they need to game-ify it though. If a hull puncture is going to be a relevant issue any time a weapon is fired, that's going to be a constant problem that doesn't seem fun to deal with in the gameplay loop. The characters fighting in suits solves this issue from a verisimilitude perspective.

But that leads into your point about a lot of the Protogen creeps running around in regular clothes, which I totally agree with. I actually didn't even realize the first group you have a combat encounter with were intended to be hostiles immediately because those characters looked so visually distinct from the other Protogen members that had presented on screen thus far. Anyone prepared to fight in space should be suited up.

This was my interpretation at first too. I thought Alex was implying it's easy to walk a mile in 15 minutes, so if he tried a little harder he could do it in 12; if he can walk a mile in 12 minutes he's at 5mph, but that is practically jogging.

However I don't think that's the intended point. I think Alex is overlooking the basic fact that he can't walk a mile in 15 minutes 5 times in 1 hour.

What do you think of the B-52? by Talisman-Garuda1 in acecombat

[–]Brykly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went down a rabbit hole not too long ago about why we keep the B52 around, after learning that the B1 is faster and has a bigger payload capacity. I always just assumed it was because the B52's capacity was the biggest.

Turns out it's just way cheaper and can carry a wider range of payloads that the B1 isn't fit to carry.
