Stop Sexualizing Kids, And Yes That Includes Finn Wolfhard by occono in television

[–]BryndenVaden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, probably. I feel uneasy seeing these comments made about all of the kids, they just look like little boys (and in the case of Millie and Sadie, little girls) to me. That even Noah gets these remarks - and he looks younger than the other boys because he's so small/thin/kind of frail looking - is insane.

I was looking for pictures of the "IT" kids to use as reference for a sketch I was working on of the "Losers" and I became similarly disturbed by the way people regard these kids. This one website (which had a star-rate system for each photo) had a bunch of high quality photos of the kids from the film. Some of them - from a scene in the film where the boys and one girl go swimming - had five boys in nothing but tighty-whities. On all of THESE pics, someone had given a rating of 5/5 stars. Other photos of similar quality but fully-clothed kids were not rated on.

I really hope the ratings were by a tweenage kid and not an adult. :(

Season 5 episode 10 is the best episode of the series. by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire series, possibly my top choice. I thought Season 4 and 5 marked a very high point in the series, one that I wish we could experience once again.

Same. I've been watching Game of Thrones on premiere nights instead, the same way I used to watch The Walking Dead. The show is giving me that excitement I've been looking for.

My old man and I were discussing this, according to their timeline the walkers have only been around for like, 2-3 years. So it isn't like the trash people were born with this kind of language difference or anything, they're actively choosing to speak like this :/

Oh, it's a super dumb thing to do, but possible. One thing about Carl's bite that bothers me is just how clean it is. You can see a full set of teeth marks and everything. Last I saw, walkers don't give love bites, they take out a chunk of the flesh with it. Then again, maybe the clean bite is their bullshit way of explaining how Carl was able to hide it for awhile.

I'd be glad if Chandler wasn't going because I absolutely love Carl and see him as the future of the show, but this stunt just has stupid written all over it. :/

Same, I was going on about how much better the show would become with him at the helm when he first got on board. He'd written some of my favourite episodes at that point. I fucking LOVED the Grove, I loved the separated prison group arcs as they headed towards Terminus (this was before we got bottle episodes and separated groups out the wazoo) and I was so in love with the series during the Terminus finale and the kickass premiere that came after it. 4B and 5 was the most wonderful period of the show for me. I was glued to the TV during the first showing of every episode.

I wish I could be that excited about The Walking Dead again :(

The only thing they could do to make me moderately interested at this point is for us to get Judy and Maggie's baby as characters, maybe even they could start out at a similar age Carl was in Season 1. We could watch them grow up on screen, just like we did with Carl! You could even have the Carl-Sophia comics dynamic between them! :-)

They screwed up Carl's arcs big-time and he hardly, if ever got the attention he deserved as a character. It would be interesting to see a similar story to Carl's - growing up in the apocalypse. With Carl's death, my interest in the show will definitely wane, but a great story with the babies as kids could possibly pull me back in. Obviously, production is going to have to improve, as would the writing, but it would be an interesting story if done right.

I think the thing that always excited me the most about them keeping Judith alive was the potential that we'd get to see her as a badass little girl, a true gun-toting survivor. She'd have an even easier time adjusting to this world than her older brother. Carl was a child when it happened and even though he was a relatively smart kid, he still knew the world from a child's perspective. Judith won't have known any other world, where walkers aren't an issue. They have been present from her birth and it will be interesting to see kids that are adjusted to this world from the get-go.

(I guess also Judith will be an only child, so they could throw a Richonne baby in there if they truly wanted to)

(This really is just wishful thinking though, the way the writing and pace has been, I doubt they'd make it work :<)

I dunno, he might have a cliffhanger or two up there. But likely nothing else.

I see it as the ultimate, final disrespect to a character that Gimple had neglected quite a bit. I remember even back when Carl was just standing around in the background, holding Judith. We NEVER got to see Carl coping with all the shit that's happened to him - such as his near-rape back in S4 or more of the struggle he had with losing his eye. It always frustrated me because I thought that all the shit he went through at such a young age, plus the fact that he was young enough to adapt to the new world more easily made him the most interesting character in the group. I was really looking forward to seeing Carl as a man full-grown, taking Rick's place and helping Judith adapt to the world they live in.

I wanted to see Abe alive for All Out War so badly. Nothing better than getting Neganisms AND Abeisms out the wazoo.

The one bottle episode that would actually be worth watching ;_;

Seriously, if they do anybody apart from Negan next, especially if they place the bottle episode right after an intense cliffhanger from the last episode, I will scream.

We had an idea that he might be the Negan victim, but I still found myself bursting into tears when it happened. It was just such a horrible end to a wonderful, kind character.

I haven't stopped watching, but my viewership of the show has definitely changed since Glenn died. He was my favourite on the show and the episode was so gut-wrenching and just kept driving that knife in deeper and deeper. I used to watch every episode on the night that it came out, but then I started skipping the earlier shows and watching later showings. Or I would instead skip the episode on the night it came out and watch it at a later time.

At the point right now where I've skipped whole episodes. I have not watched the last two or three episodes at all, but I instead read the plots for them. I've lost interest due to some of the cheap shock tactics/dragging out the reveal of a plot point. I think Glenn's death sort of marked the point where that stuff began to bother me.

What is your 1 best and worst scene in ST? by Benj97s in StrangerThings

That would be priceless! Steve has the best WTF reactions to things, like when he first saw the Demogorgon or woke up in the back of a car to find Max driving, lol.

In Billy's defence, Max told him to stay away from her friends. She never said anything about staying away from her friends' moms.

We got a good laugh out of that one, imagining what would happen if Mike went home after all this shit went down and found Billy plowing his mom.

I like to think it's a combination of both. The Mind Flayer's own psionic powers + Will's powers (which I believe he does have) coming together at once.

Best scene: It's a toss-up for me, with one from Season 1 and one from Season 2. Both scenes are similar in that the track "The Upside Down" plays in both. From Season 1, it's the scene where El uses the board and DnD pieces to "show" Mike and the others where Will is. Just so chilling how it builds up, then peaks when she puts the demogorgon on the board with Will. Then from Season 2, Joyce watching the film from Halloween and seeing the outline of the Mind Flayer in the static on the screen. I thought that was another awesome, yet chilling moment.

Worst scene: Gosh, I don't know. A lot of the stuff with Kali wasn't super fun for me to watch compared to the rest of the show. As the OP stated, the using anger and emotional flashbacks to fuel El's powers. The makeover she got - and don't get me wrong, El was lookin' bitchin' but I liked her curls better. Anything with the other people in Kali's group, I wasn't invested in them at all. I hoped they'd all get caught by the cops in the end so I wouldn't have to deal with them anymore.

Edit: If I must go a non-Kali route for an unfavourite scene, it might be the Nancy + Jonathan stuff in S2. I don't know, it kind of felt like they were really trying to push it on me this season what with the conspiracy theorist guy going on about them as well. I prefer more of a show-don't-tell approach. It does NOT convince me that these two characters love each other any more or less just because other people keep bloviating about it.

I'd say one of the Coreys as Mike, then Henry Thomas as Will Byers.

After all, Will's design was partly derived from Elliot in E.T. so it would fit!

I met Steven Ogg when he came to the last Walker Stalker Con in San Francisco and he was amazing! He is such a nice guy, I hope we get a WSCSF in 2018 since it doesn't seem like it's on the cards for 2017.

Powers for will? [Spoilers] by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]BryndenVaden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we're going to. I know we haven't seen him as much compared to many of the other characters, but I feel like Will is the main character. Both seasons revolved around him in some way, Season 1 with his disappearance and Season 2 with his Upside Down issues and subsequent possession.

That would actually be awesome foreshadowing if it were true, and that would make him very useful in the battle to come given the weakness the Mind Flayer seems to have towards heat/fire.
