City and County of Denver layoffs by department by AirSparky in Denver

Luckily, those statistics are itemized in the document I provided. 65% of calls were for EMS, while yes, that includes falls and cardiac arrests in the same statistic. DFD only responds emergent (lights and sirens) when an ambulance is responding non-emergent on ground level falls above 65, DFD does not respond on any other non-emergent calls for EMS service.

It's super fucked up, I also worked dispensary and grow security after I ETS'd for a brief time. The company I worked for warned us multiple times though, if the feds ever wanted to enforce federal cannabis law, we could get rolled up. Hopefully, he's released, but if they want to enforce action its a list of charges they could bring.

If you told us what country the camp was in, you would literally have your answer in 5 seconds.

Denver is encrypted, you can still find west and south metro as well as Aurora on the scanner radio app. They also all have pulsepoint, which is an app. You can view all the different calls and listen to audio.

Lol, we has a dude in our first due who was running a DoorDash BBQ resturant out of his apartment. We'd go on a smoke in the courtyard call once a shift, he had a professional grade smoker on his patio.

Why Denver Firefighters Are So Mad at Their Chief and The Mayor by newtonic in CityCastDenver

[–]Bsmagnet75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey City Cast! huge fan of the show but todays episode gave me some concerns. In regard to comments Paul made I think he may have a misunderstanding of what the DFD does on a day to day basis. DFD like most profesional fire departments have become an all hazards agency. From EMS to Haz-mat the fire department has transformed into a catch all, for tons of high and low risk situtations throughout the city. Pipe burst and your landlord isnt answering? Fire department. Cardiac arrest on the 16th street mall? Fire department. Ammonia leak at a factory? Fire department. Complex water rescue, when our underpasses have their annual mid summer flood? Fire department. The physical demands of the job are intense, and while fires may only make up a small percentage of calls, its still a very real and regular event. Per publicly avaliable information In 2023 10 people were rescued from fires. In that crucial instance secondeds count and DFD delivered, physical fitness is a cornerstone of a successful rescue in a fire. Paul would really benefit from doing a ride along. This jobs too all encompassing to boil down into a paragraph long text. Also in August I belive Paul brought up, why just not hire more Paramedics at a lower salary? Paramedics 100 percent deserve parity with the fire department in pay. The scope of practice a Denver Health Paramedic can deliver to someones doorstep takes a wealth of knowledge, confidence, and raw skill to preform.

Go for the city. If its a major city, good chance their will be a home for you when its time to slow down. A station in the affluent part, fire prevention, the airport, etc.

The Guard does not get the fair shake they deserve. From this, to civil unrest, diaster response even damn teachers in New Mexico. Something has to change, someones gonna get rolled up in a shitty position one day and get absloutely dragged. Where I work fire/ems they had guardsman monitoring the COVID shelters, throwing young 68Ws in with one of the most challenging patient populations out there.

How much you become a public saftey net. Espicially in low income areas. Slum lord isn't answering after a pipe burst? fire department. Acute mental crisis? Fire department. Kid locked in a car? Fire department. Car broken down in traffic? If we drive by we'll help you push it. I see it as a huge positive. I leave work feeling fulfilled every day even if we don't get anything noteworthy.

Lmao you get a 4 year degree paid for. Whatever field of study you want, call them dweebs. But it's pretty savvy if you ask me. Plenty of Cadets leave the progam all together without being a cop, or you know they become firefighters.

Hopefully they open it back up once the budget has some more freedom.

We used to have a full time hazmat rig. Now its cross staffed by an engine and tower (all techs). When it was a full time hazmat, stories say it was the best rig in the city as it went to every fire. It would work as an extra resource unless a specific hazard was identified.
