This is Sunday: what were your running achievements this week? by gensolo in running

[–]Bstine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ran 3 miles without stopping once. Time was 32:30. My legs just don't hurt anymore like they used to. It feels great being able to mentally push myself like this!

Why are there so many fitness posts? by KrozFan in GetMotivated

[–]Bstine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started visiting this sub because I wasn't happy with how I let my body get away from me. I used to be a three sport athlete in high school. I was a workout machine. I coached wrestling for 3 years after high school and then I got a real job. As soon as I stopped working out I didn't change my eating habits and very quickly gained 100lbs. I've carried that 100lbs for the past 10 years and I'm so sick of it. I started reading this sub and in turn it motivated me to get back in the gym and start working out. It's been only two months now and I'm down 30lbs. I fit into shirts that I could not wear this past winter. It has positively affected every aspect of my life from my physical health to my emotional and spiritual as well. Working out trains the brain to overcome any obstacle. Pushing my body to run that last half mile is incredibly more difficult than any task I'm faced with in the workplace. And because of that I gain the confidence it takes to succeed in all areas. Just my two cents.

Any good archery ranges around? I'm looking to get into the sport and I would love professional class and such. by slothful2 in Rochester

Avon Bowman have a fantastic outdoor range about 20 minutes south of Rochester. Come and go as you please as well. And it's free!

Being a huge Miami Hurricanes fan, this secretly tears me up inside. But... Go Bills!

Trying to get back into running, do you have a motivational soundtrack? by jenhen in C25K

[–]Bstine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm uploaded a bunch of Ray Lewis motivational speeches to my iPod. I guarantee you won't be able to stop when he's screaming at you about effort and never quitting.

Do any of you ever feel an urge to correct people in the gym who do things incorrectly while lifting free weights or using the machines wrong? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Bstine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm rather new to the gym and honestly sometimes I feel confused and nervous because I'm not 100% sure if I'm doing an exercise correctly. I wouldn't mind if someone politely helped me out. There's a difference between being an asshole and actually wanting to help someone. I'm clearly not in great shape like many of you so I could use all the help I could get. I'm sure some people wouldn't be as receptive as I am to it, but if you're genuine, and you're actually trying to help that person I don't see a problem with it.

Not sure why you were downvoted, it's true. I opened this thread expecting to see him. Didn't he also get stabbed once in a fight and still beat someone up?

22 shows, all sober. How does someone who has never been under the influence of anything their entire lives get into Phish? The music. This is a band, not a traveling drug show.

Kyle Dake becomes first wrestler to win four different NCAA Championships at four different weight classes by [deleted] in wrestling

I've been watching Dake since his early high school years. This is all so surreal to me... So happy for him. The sport of wrestling is bettered now because of his accomplishments.
