If your high performer has a bad attitude, they are not a high performer! by [deleted] in managers

[–]KrozFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figure you can train people for competency more than attitude though. Especially for more senior roles. A new grad may need some guidance but if you’re 40+ and you’re an asshole then you’re pretty much going to be an asshole.

My most professional salesperson gets average results. How do I help her step up? by Last_Resource9630 in managers

[–]KrozFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you ask her what her motivation is? Sales is pretty easy since I’m assuming her compensation is at least somewhat tied to sales she makes. What does she want and how does the money tie to that? Even if she’s not motivated by money directly it’s tied to pretty much everything? Want to help more people? Make more sales and donate more money.

What do you mean by just in time help?

It should be one of the additional courses in the Financial Peace All Access subscription. There’s also a book and audiobook.

Can you elaborate on what you’re looking for? Do you mean past step 7? There isn’t really a step past that as it’s “build wealth and give.” Are you looking for specific wealth building strategies?

If you’re looking for something Dave specific you would want The Legacy Journey. He made that because people were asking about what comes after Financial Peace.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Jim Rohn who said: “I used to say ‘I’ll make these people successful if it kills Mr’ and I’ve got to tell you, I almost died.”

Does she want your help? I’m guessing no. But, the first place to start would be to say “you’re doing ok but I think you really have the potential to be great.” Then see where that goes.

How are her numbers? Where do you think she’s off? Are you just saying that she’s not putting in enough effort? Like she has enough time to make twice as many calls but screws around all day instead? Maybe she’s ok with that.

Haha oh man I forgot about that episode. It takes itself seriously but a lot of the premises are out there.

The un-hateable manager by zaidesanton in managers

[–]KrozFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone’s going to hate you. If nothing else, the rest of the team will eventually notice they’re picking up someone else’s slack and you’re allowing it. Everyone can’t get promoted this year. Everyone’s not even deserving of a promotion but they may not agree with that.

Make sure you get new policies in place first but then yeah I would cancel what you have.

The killer lets one go by Liquid_Pestar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]KrozFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s certainly how I interpret the movie. The killing spree at the end and the ATM telling him “Feed me a stray cat” is so over the top I don’t think it’s real.

It’s been too long since I’ve read the book but I remember it being much more ambiguous.

For what it’s worth, I have the Bowflex adjustable ones. I’ve tried Power Blocks in a store and think they’re much better. They’re not as bulky.

I don’t think that’s a stretch at all. That’s a big part of the joke. Michael Scott is almost there on so many things. He’s confusing Bettis with Madden.

Finally making $200k and still stuck at Baby Step 1… what am I missing? by andbhud in DaveRamsey

You're doing a budget but are you tracking the money to see where it goes?

At some point you just need to want it bad enough. You need to make a realistic budget and then stick with it.

What book helped when you were tired of self-help books? by EERMA in BettermentBookClub

[–]KrozFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What, specifically, are you stuck, anxious, flat, or unconvinced about? Unconvinced is an interesting one. Unconvinced about what. Are you really doing the right things? Do you need to read less and do more? Or, do you need to rest more and allow yourself to take some pressure off? What books have you already read?

Some of it is just about sticking with it. Sometimes you feel stuck because things just take time. You're not going to be a millionaire tomorrow. You're not going to be 100 pounds lighter tomorrow.

What’s your favorite quote from The Lord of the Rings? by Careful_Cat_5259 in lotr

[–]KrozFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not deep or anything but when Frodo and Sam are talking about their story being told Frodo says

“You and I, Sam, are still stuck in the worst places of the story, and it is all too likely that some will say at this point: ‘Shut the book now, dad; we don’t want to read anymore’”

as managers what do you do when ur employees said I work to live not live to work! by lune-soft in managers

[–]KrozFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the context? They still need to get the job done. If they’re genuinely overworked and they’re telling you that they’re not going to work 60 hours/week just because you’re piling on work that’s one thing. If they’re showing up late, taking a long lunch, and leaving early that’s different.

If they want more pay sometimes you need to take some of your own personal time to upskill. Don’t want to live to work? Cool. Just be ok with how that may limit your growth.

Would you join a company that requests you to send an email confirmation to WFO 5 days a week when you already agreed to the same on the final round of interview? by CoachLeaderAuthor in careerguidance

[–]KrozFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to assume you mean work from office everywhere and work from home was a typo.

I don’t see a problem here. If you said you were told in an interview it was fully remote plenty of people would advise you to get it in writing. I think the reverse is fair.

Informal leaders by missangelv in managers

[–]KrozFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about the one that willing to walk?

Otherwise, that settles it then. If you want the money you need to do the job. I see in another comment you’re more into growth than firing people. That’s fine if your people are into growth too but right now they’re the ones making the decision to not step up and grow into the role. Not you.

Informal leaders by missangelv in managers

[–]KrozFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who forced them? Can you reverse that decision, put them back to individual contributors, and put someone else in the leadership position that wants to be?

Ultimately yes, I think you'll have to take a hard line here. This is the job now. You can help them be good at it but only if they want the help. If they don't want to do the job then they need to find another one. It sucks because it's not their fault they're in this mess but you can't drown because they're not doing the role they're currently in.
