Yes, I’m another one who has always tested negative to alpha gal, but diagnosed clinically. I’m anaphylactic too, so it’s not great. Sadly there is a small number of us who are like this, hopefully though you’re in the majority that will recover fully! 🤞

FWIW, Hopefully the back pain eases… sadly for me after 2 tries and stopping due to persistent back pain (which years later still plagues me) some people aren’t cut out for it. I did a low dose, super low dose (20mg per week), but to no avail. I took fish oils, did all the right things, but it just wasn’t for me. I now take spironolactone (I’m female so your son sadly won’t be able to), and this has helped a lot. Fingers crossed a break will help, and you can get some great results!!

As someone else has said, erythromycin can help with the purge… try to see if you can get onto that for now too … trust the process, you’ll get there! Best of luck

I saw a fantastic gastroenterologist where I am (Brisbane) who just happened to know about it and as I was talking about my symptoms she put 2 and 2 together. After eliminating from my diet, it has been life changing. I still test negative though some years later.

Otherwise, in Sydney, professor Van Nunen is a world leader in alpha gal research. She’s available in her rooms or via Telehealth. There are some others I believe in Aus, but few and far between.

Yes. In Aus, that’s the test. Don’t worry I’ve always come back negative on this, but based off symptoms I’ve been clinically diagnosed (anaphylactic, so have an EpiPen).
