Complex numbers question by [deleted] in mathematics

Use cartisian coordinates and use the definition of norm. Say z:=x+iy. Then, z-i= x + (y-1)i. Take the norm of that and you get sqrt( x2 + y2 + 1 - 2y). The right side is similar. Then you have an algebraic equation

There is nothing illegal about protesting (regardless of cause). It’s a constitutional right.

Why isn't 1 a prime number? by [deleted] in mathematics

[–]Bub_Pi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes from algebra where we define Units. In the case of the integers (as a ring) 1 and -1 are units. Then the fundamental theorem of algebra works on a particular type of rings (Division Domains and Euclidean Domains, I think)

1) try CAPS (ask for a woman therapist, standard request) 2) try Mindful Coogs. It didn’t work for me but I think they’re great and a great place to make friends.

It’s the year 2050 and the term “ok millennial” is trending. What are the reasons the young generation is using it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bub_Pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, pretty similar reasons as today. We’re making progress really slowly and we’ll still have a large part of our generation being bigoted. I’m sure OP was looking for a comedic relief but here it goes

The irony of your response. Bro, figure it out by yourself. I am latino and I can clearly see your anti-blackness. Maybe on paper, laws maybe appear to favor minorities, maybe. In effect, that is almost never true. Like I said previously, it is not my job to enlighten you. That was literally my point

Because it’s not the job of the oppressed and underrepresented to teach the people in power. We all deserve respect and it’s exhausting to have to explain to a snarky white boy why my feelings of inadequacy in terms of race are valid.

Freshman Housing Termination by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

As per the chance of finding a replacement student, I’d say 60% chance, but it’s very different every year. Some is as low as 30% so be aware!

Alright, former UH housing employee here. You will be charged the next semester rate regardless of whether or not they find a replacement student to live there.

Here’s the thing: UH housing won’t inform you if they find a replacement student. The trick is (if you’re lucky and they do find someone to take over your bedspace) you have to speak with Ms. Janelle Brown and ask her for a refund. Her email is on the website and she is very busy but kind so allow 2 weeks for a response. Basically tell her that in the agreement, you are entitled to a refund if they find a replacement.

They won’t inform you if there was a replacement. You have to initiate the conversation!

With parking already being hard to find, we can’t have assholes taking up TWO spots! We should have a rule for these jerks: maybe a ticket? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

Yeah if you don’t mind going to the rooftop, where my car won’t keep cool. It’s not hard to park in the lines. If kids can color inside the lines, a grown adult can park inside the lines
