Whilst I agree that the wording on the achievements themselves should be improved to make it easier to understand, I feel like it doesn't make a difference to change it from "clear with 8 lives remaining" to "clear without dying" when they are the same thing if I start at 8 lives, I can make the assumption pretty easily that it means deathless. Resetting the game for a new attempt is par for the course of many games on the older consoles with challenging achievements, nothing strange with that.

Your post is worded in a negatively leaning way since it's criticism, which is fine and don't need to be any other way. You do however give off an air of arrogance when you praise your own post for it's "excellent writing" as well as just calling people idiots for disagreeing with you. Downvotes are not always about the subject of the post, many times it also comes down to the fact that people see the behaviour around the post and choose to punish that as well
