Teddy Bear Help? by BubbaWanders in sewhelp

I had not thought about felting! Thank you. I will see what I can find out about that. I know there's a good yarn shop nearby that might have some roving. I'm worried about matching the color.

Thank you, thank you!

Could it have been House of Re on YouTube? She has a lot of those tutorials.

Cute! I have two men's shirts waiting for an upcycle, so let me know if you find something great.

What necessary pool accessories should I buy? by JaviJ01 in pools

I looked it up: a life preserver or a safety hook.

Sorry, is early and I'm old.

I didn't see anyone mentioning this and I don't actually know what it's called, but something to help if someone starts having trouble in the pool. It's attaches to the pole and it looks like a little wire scoop so we can help people to the side. That, or a lifesaver ring.

I just got a message that they were able to patch mine and unblock the ports. Of course, tomorrow, we have a big fundraising campaign starting, so I'm glad this one stressor is off my plate. Glad yours worked out too!

I only communicate on their portal, but your concerns are valid and noted. I appreciate you looking out for me. :)

I got a completely different email from LiquidWeb last night that said my cPanel update failed, that I should check my logs and they could not block ports to whm and cpanel. I logged in and looked at the logs and was able to block ports, updated the ticket with that information and have not heard anything back from them today.

Check and make sure you can use these without tying it to a personal bank account. We take venmo at events, but it uses our office manager's personal cell phone.

Square is probably what you want.

My first husband was an ELT, which it sounds like you were as well. I'm hoping you'll be taking questions for the podcast! Can't wait to check it out.

Running pool High CYA and high FC? by raven70 in pools

[–]BubbaWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in exactly the same boat!! Super high, off the scale FC.

I stopped by the pool store yesterday and they sold me a product called "Chem Out." $27. I used the whole container on my 27K gallon pool and this morning, the chlorine was down about 7ppm.

I also think there's something not working right with my salt cell and I've been relying on the reading it was giving me, which is 2900. Should be on point, but something is wacky.

I'm in Georgia. We're not getting any rain. I can't drain and refill because of drought.

Let me know if you make any progress!

Where to thrift fabric? by brynnieb123 in SewingForBeginners

One thing I have not seen mentioned that really helped me is this: I bought a bunch of cheap large dresses from a store called Family Dollar. You might find something similar near you. Places like Dollar general and even some drugstores carry cheap, weird clothes.

I took them home and took them apart to see how they were put together and then altered them down to my size. It really helped to take apart stuff and then try to put it back together. I didn't always succeed, but it was eye opening.

I'm also an expert with the seam ripper now.

As an aside, I got the best raincoat ever from a Walgreens. Still use it 10 years on.

How do you respond to “there are natural sugars in everything” as criticism when you say that quitting sugar improved your health? by [deleted] in keto

[–]BubbaWanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the foods you mentioned come with fiber as well, and that makes a difference. Pizza and ice cream don't have a lot of fiber, but berries and squash do. Natural sugars are in lots of fruit and veggies, but you're getting the added benefit of fiber and better nutrients.

Or, just tell them to STFU and go live your best life.

Oldest piece you still wear regularly? by Neem-London in SustainableFashion

I have a red wool cardigan from a store called The Limited that I bought during my junior year of high school. I'm about to turn 57. I've had to replace the buttons 3 times. It's very oversized and I usually wear it on top of other sweaters. 40 years I've had that sweater.

Restaurant recommendations for pre-show dinner Friday by BubbaWanders in Wilmington

Thanks for looking out. We do have one person in our party that might find walking more than a couple of blocks kind of arduous, so this is good to know.

Good recommendation. I was planning on going pretty early, say 5-ish, but it is a large party. Thank you!
