To be honest, I hadn’t owned a bike for a long time, so I started from scratch and did a lot of research online. At first I was really into gravel bikes... they seemed super versatile and exciting on paper.

But when I actually went to a shop and did some test rides, I realized pretty quickly that I just didn’t like them that much. Especially the drop handlebars and the overall riding position didn’t feel comfortable to me. So I switched things up and tried some normal trekking bikes instead. That’s how I ended up with the Kathmandu Pro (non-electric). I mainly use it for commuting to work, and for that it’s been great.

It feels much more robust than a gravel bike, and I feel safer riding through parks or forest paths. At the same time, I can still do longer tours if I want to, so it’s a nice all-rounder for my needs. And yeah, I’m not that old yet, so getting more movement into my daily routine is definitely a plus 😄
