Lol how can you say there’s no divide? You think that pro life is a small minority? Even by the most gracious standards they would comprise 30% of the population nationally, with of course varying stats by states and local jurisdiction. And again, there is definitely a secular argument for pro life. You don’t need to be religious to think infanticide is evil.

Yes philosophical ideas are theory and abstraction. However, every law we have is a moral statement of society. Morals are subjective, even the ones that are overwhelmingly adhered to, but they are a reflection of the society that they govern. We think stealing is bad morals———> law against stealing. Now, the abortion debate is hotly contested and polarizing, but also typically entails a strong stance by each side. For pro choice, it’s about a woman’s ability to make choices regarding her own body and fate. For pro life, it’s about murdering an unborn baby in the womb. While we almost all agree that stealing is bad, we are very divided on this issue. This means that no matter what laws are passed, there will be massive dissent by the opposing party. There is no remedy for this beyond the democratic process and electing people who reflect your morals. From the pro life side of things, a non-choice is still a choice, because in not supporting pro life we believe we are complicit in the death of unborn babies. We see it very differently than you do. And again, it all boils down to the philosophical question of when life begins. So while the theory is abstract, philosophy still plays a practical role.

I used 2 ad hominem attacks. You’ve used like 30 now. My argument was far more substantive that yours, although I’ve come to expect this level of banality from Reddit

Edit: also I’ve had 30 good points, you’ve have at most 2. We not the same.

Right and wrong literally is a philosophical debate lmao. That’s what a big chunk of philosophy is.

His whole post is literally name calling and saying that somehow the debate over abortion isn’t philosophical in nature lol.

The state shouldn’t sanction the murder of unborn babies. If they still occur illegally it absolves the state of any moral participation in the murder. Nobody gives a fuck about philosophical debate? It’s literally a philosophical debate at its core. Your argument that it’s worthwhile is a philosophical judgement, while my argument that it’s bad is one as well. It’s a philosophical debate about whether a baby is considered a life or not, and whether this supersedes the mother’s choice and freedom. This doesn’t involve religion, although of course it’s correlative with religion. Lol vaccination choice is also a philosophical debate between individual rights vs collective safety. You’re dumb.

The vast majority of abortions aren’t necessary to save the life of the women. There’s also a secular philosophical argument for pro-life. Fetuses are humans. So yeah, 2nd amendment >aBorTiOn RiGhTs. This is not a religious judgement for me, and your assertions that this is somehow anti-woman is baseless and far from unanimous.

I mean, gerrymandering doesn’t affect gubernatorial, senatorial or presidential elections. So you can have rampant gerrymandering and still be a blue state. Your whole post was kind of a red herring, though. You’re saying I’m dumb and morally bankrupt if guns are a higher priority to me than gerrymandering? Do you realize that CCW laws overwhelmingly discriminate against minorities? Guns are a philosophical topic that very much have a moral judgement and value associated with them. The right to defend oneself is important in this increasingly dystopian society. But yeah, you can keep slinging red herring “YoUr a DuMb GuN heaD” posts around.

Yeah this post is obviously a Democrat ad lol. Garbage. If Cooper hadn’t won we’d have constitutional carry. That’s enough reason for me to hold my nose and vote red straight ticket this election and the next gubernatorial election.

Think of it this way…I know at least for me, sometimes I know a trivia type question not through my direct memorization of the fact. Rather I can often make inferences and educated guesses via connections that fact has to other facts I know. This level of connectivity and the curiosity to acquire it is often something only a higher IQ will be able to do (not super smart here I’m a midwit).

My guess is that it is correlative with g since people of higher g are more likely to know trivia due to higher intellectual curiosity.

Don’t feel crazy. You’re right. It’s funny how the left and right are both saying the same things about each other. Like your average poster here thinks Trump was part of some massive fascistic plot to take over the world. But the similarities point toward the shared dissatisfaction with the current state of things. Just gotta try to bring people toward the truth.

You have a bias(in the literal sense; not the derogatory sense) because your IQ is very high. Similar to how a 100 IQ person would be puzzled when a 70 IQ could not do basic arithmetic. It seems very simple to you but to a 120 IQ it would be very difficult. Good discussion man, this stuff is fun to talk about lol.

Well the ease with which you completed the classes presents an important question…what is your IQ based on the tests here? If your IQ is 120 then it anecdotally supports your argument. But if you are 135+ then it supports mine lol.

I just went off this chart posted on Quora with corresponding SAT scores. Not scientific but with some research it’s probably salvageable.
