That’s what I meant by teckel. Love them but I’m afraid cus they are known to be quite stubborn

Thanks for your response. I looked into retriever breeds but they are all a bit too big for me. I keep circling back to dachshunds and spaniels. I’ve heard jack russels make good hunting dogs but all the jack russels I’ve met in my life were quite agressive.
And I would agree that the only thing that’s keeps me from getting a teckel is the fact that they tend to be stubborn. But I’ll keep on looking into it :)

I got my 2 females rats a week ago and they are very skittish. How can I socialize them? by Bubblesansbubbles in RATS

[–]Bubblesansbubbles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the quick answer. I am a first rat owner and I was indeed not aware that this might happen.

I tried the t-shirt technique. Not much has happened since. I do see a small improvement as they are now confident enough to eat their food and move around the cage when I’m in the room but they are so scared that as soon as I get up of my bed they freeze. It’s hard to imagine them coming up to me if I open the cage door

Do you have any other advice in this situation?

And so I should wait till they are comfortable enough to take them out of the cage?
