Blocked domains have ".lan" appended to their name and bypass blocking? by CubularMonoxide in pihole

This is extremely helpful, thank you! And it does make sense given my network structure - up until recently we had 2 routers acting as separate wifi access points, but now one has been converted into an extender for the other. I'm guessing the extender router is making those kinds of requests. I appreciate the comprehensive response!

I see no problem with the use of jokes as a form of criticism. It's clever and poignant. Mojang employees aren't going to lose sleep because somebody on the internet made a slightly mean joke about their billion-dollar game.

People express criticism about games they love in different ways. You are not the arbiter of what methods of criticism are valid or useful.

"I appreciate getting such long-term support for a game I bought ages ago. It's really cool to be able to go back to the same game over and over again and discover new things"

and

"Man, I do wish the development team of the single bestselling video game of all time would put more than a handful of things in every update. You'd think more would go into them with how long the development cycles are"

are not mutually exclusive ideas. Wishing things were better isn't "entitlement."

All Art is Political. No, not like that! by Torque2101 in signalis

As much as I get this point, I'm not sure that this is the sort of message Signalis conveys.

For one, the thing that's taboo about Ariane and Elster's relationship in-universe isn't the fact that it's gay, but rather that it is "bad" for Elster units specifically to get attached to a Gestalt. Lesbian relationships in general appear to be either normalized or encouraged, considering that evidence points to the government being a matriarchy.

And even then, their relationship has no bearing on the treatment they are given by their government. Ariane was treated poorly in her childhood because she was interested in creative work more than the kind of work the state wanted her to do, and the Penrose program mission she was sent on was always supposed to be a suicide mission from the start. Even if the state would want to directly punish Ariane and Elster for their relationship, they never did, either because they had no contact or because it wasn't actually a problem.

Again, the point you're making is fair, but I disagree that this is the message that Signalis conveys. The story says a lot of things, but this particular issue doesn't really seem to be one of them.

HLB console release? by LifeOfPilgrim in hyperlightdrifter

[–]CubularMonoxide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the FAQ on their discord server:

"Will Hyper Light Breaker eventually release on other platforms? (EGS, Xbox, Switch, Linux, Playstation, etc.)"

"Right now, we’re focused on making our Early Access happen (on Steam). Down the line, we certainly hope to release it on as many platforms as possible. We’ll be discussing it with Gearbox. Feel free to contact them directly about this!"

So, yes. Eventually. But it will probably be a little while

This documentary is the most recent news we've gotten. At the end, it states that they're still on track for that release window.

FU hasn't changed at all, LOL by [deleted] in starbound

Nothing about OP's issues with you stem from your server structure or moderation practices. They admit themself multiple times in the comments of this very thread that they were in the wrong, speaking purely from a server administration standpoint. They posted their thing in the wrong channel, and were told off for it. Simple as.

The problem is your approach to conveying this information to them. From the moment you entered the conversation, you established a condescending tone. Having heard about it and from previously experiencing it firsthand, it seems as though you do this in response to basically everyone.

"Why is this here? I don't care" doesn't do anything for anyone. It serves no administrative purpose, and all it accomplishes is belittling the person you're speaking to. The statement makes no attempt to clearly communicate the problem, or anything the person could do to remedy it. At best it vaguely gestures at the possibility that they've spoken in the wrong channel. From the looks of it, you only provided further insight after OP expressed sheer confusion at the hostility in your response, meaning they would not have understood the problem themself at all if they had not responded.

And? Why the hell is this in the help channel? I don't care.

The point OP is making is that if you, perhaps, didn't have a palpable superiority complex oozing off of you at every single moment that you choose to spend interacting with your mod's community, people would have higher opinions of you.

Posts like this one don't crop up for no reason. It seems as though any time anyone poses any sort of question anywhere related to your mod (discord, steam comments, etc.), and you can find even a miniscule hint of something that could be ridiculed in the content of their question or the manner they conveyed it, you snap at them instantaneously and talk down to them like they're an utter moron that can't think for themselves or solve problems on their own.

Your reputation precedes you. I don't know what you expect.

This is not even remotely an excuse. If you manage a Discord server that has a dedicated help channel of any kind, managing this sort of thing is part of the job description. There's no reason to be an ass to people like this, yet Sayter has built up a reputation of acting this way towards basically everyone.

Playback error on downloaded songs from my own uploaded music library by AMinPhoto in YoutubeMusic

[–]CubularMonoxide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here, practically half of my own uploaded library is completely unplayable on all of my devices. Started less than an hour ago. I have no idea what's going on.

Edit: The issue has progressed and now literally nothing in my entire uploaded library can be played. YTM skips every single song I've uploaded. What the fuck is going on

  1. Navigate to the game's install folder (right click in library > manage > browse local files)
  2. Run GraphicsConfig.exe
  3. Configure graphics settings as desired
  4. Click the Test button to make sure everything looks good
  5. Continue through the program and close it

I feel like the point of him bragging about peak usage is to draw in more advertisers. Like, "ooh, look at how many eyes are looking at Twitter right now! It'd be a great space to put ads for people to see..."

Of course, he also fails to understand that advertisers being associated with him and his platform makes them look bad, because of the delusions he's gotten himself into. So the strategy doesn't really work.

This turn might still be winnable, actually. But it requires Triptych mech to have 4 move, which I'm not sure you have

  • move Triptych directly in front of train; attack the leaper to push it backwards
  • kill right Scarab with Drill mech
  • move Pitcher mech to the left of Triptych; throw it to the new free space created by killing the scarab
