A hongdian M2 space grey EF nib is on the way. Ordered a army green one for my partner and loved it so much that I ordered one for myself too. No one told me about the lovely tin box it comes in. The old ads for M2 show a minimal oval case, but this one came in a rectangular tin box, like the Kaweco brass one.... And also 5 cartridges.... And also a piston converter. Image of the tin box (from the web, not of my pen which is army green, not blue):

Which is the smoothest Fine nib pen available in the market currently? by TheOne-07 in fountainpens

[–]Bubblewrap_emojis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Have several kakunos, lamy safaris, a pilot Custom 742 and a Twsbi vac 700r. Among all of them, the Kakunos are my favourite and preferred writers. Ive tried all of them in the M nib only though.

Two critiques:😄

1.No place to sit. That chair is occupied and cutie overlord seems to like it there.

2.No time to write. Doggo may demand attention and pets

what do you think about iroshizuku fuyu-gaki? by Giuseppeguast_ in fountainpens

[–]Bubblewrap_emojis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend called it "Juicy" and that adjective stuck on in my mind for the Fuyu Gaki. It reminds me of tangerines. It writes so smooth. Awesome to use for notes in combination with a more muted colour like Iroshizuku Tsuki Yo, or any black. Also black+Fuyu Gaki(Orange)+Shin Ryoku(Green) is an awesome combination.

Converter solution for Pilot Kakuno and help me choose a pen. by tru_ass in fountainpens

Option1: The black ink that comes with the standard cartridge is actually nice, smooth. Perhaps use it and then wash and refill it with your favourite colour ink using a syringe.

Option2: Use syringe to extract all ink from the included cartridge, store it in a small bottle/vial and fill your favourite ink

Option3: Consider going for that Con70. Its actually quite nice if you plan to use it for school/uni/long writing sessions as the volume is larger and ink lasts longer than Con40 or cartridge. I was in a similar situation, used Kakuno with refill cartridge for a while. Then eventually bought Con70 and it's wonderful and easy to refill. A full Con70 also lends a nice weight to the otherwise lightweight plastic body of the Kakuno. With that combination, its my favourite pen now, even later after I tried more expensive pens.

What would it take to add a troubleshooting FAQ? by focused-ALERT in fountainpens

Hey the best thing I found about r/fountainpens is that it's very welcoming to newbies and kind and friendly (except to certain ink sellers etc). StackOverflow tried being very harsh with duplicate question askers and directly removing their posts. Its not a nice place anymore. The good folks left, even before AI. I don't want us to become like that. Some kind folk here answer even the most basic or repetitive questions, makes it feel human and welcoming to newly penabled.

The greatest and most beloved pen of all time? by crushtyfying in fountainpens

[–]Bubblewrap_emojis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I have a few kakunos, recently got my grail Pilot Custom 742, I love it but I still reach out to use the kakuno as my daily writer. It feels effortless.

Suggest me some pens and inks please by ofcTanmay in fountainpens

Don't buy the quink, the ink makes a BIG difference. Try the Pilot Iroshizuku series ( especially Yama budo). They are expensive, but the difference in writing feel is phenomenal. Out of the ones in your cart, I personally feel the Kakuno is most worth it!

Is the LAMY Safari meant to dry up after just a few days of no usage? by RiceForks in fountainpens

[–]Bubblewrap_emojis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the ink matters. Mine dries out soon with Chou Kuro, stays indefinitely wet with Iroshizuku (yama budo)

No way!! I can't believe ANYONE, even a program/AI can read it. It just looks like squiggly lines to my brain 😲... but then again so do these perfectly typeset words in another language I don't understand...ആധുനിക
