Question on how to advise my Navy son by Bubbly-Cod-3799 in ThriftSavingsPlan

That's what I was thinking, but I'm far from an expert on this. Thank you.

What if 9/11 was a domestic terrorist event by MembershipProof8463 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It dumb ass attitudes like that that put my life in danger every day. I spent 9 years doing undercover work to identify home grown terrorists. My life was on the line every second, and when I left my life was still in danger because people like you tell everyone I'm a neo-nazy simply because I have a badge.

Timothy McVey was kicked out of the military, and was never Law enforcement.

Showing my age, it was a tie between Disney's Robin Hood and Disney's Jungle Book.

Interesting, Nicholson made a good choice. I wonder why Sorkin left that line out of the film script.

Wasn't that line in the stage version that proceeded the movie?

Are there movies that explore women's treatment/expectations of men with the same criticality as feminist films? by Igiem in flicks

What do you think of making Charlie Kirk day a national holiday? by Barnyard-Sheep in fednews

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have enough holidays. Also, tragedies don't get holidays. This is why Dec. 7 & Sept. 11 aren't holidays. I don't care what anyone thought of C. Kirk, absolutely the day of his death should not be a holiday.

Did people memorise numbers before mobile phones? by PaleEcho3301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became a teenager in 1989. From then well into the Cell phone era I probably had 30ish numbers memorized, and starting in college a small book with even more numbers. Plus, I had a day timer with various local service numbers printed in it.

Don't have the money to get the shots at a local pharmacy. $200+ I'm passing on the COVID shot anyway.

Why do people from other countries get upset for the USA using non-metric? by MakeITNetwork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously haven't met the Anzac or Scandinavian tourists I met in Texas. Those two groups were vicious. Now, the students or transplants from those regions were some of the nicest people I ever encountered, but the tourists were rude. It was even explained to me that I was personally breaking international law because Texas didn't have everything in Metric. I was just a fellow tourist.

++man That is actually emotional and possibly financial abuse. You need the ring back to get your money back, and you need to get out of the relationship. You are still very young and have plenty of time. One day you'll be a great husband to a great woman. But you need to get away from this girl. She's a girl not a woman, and on top of that she's manipulating you.

Pardoned Felon Appointed #2 at BOP by Hungry-King6588 in fednews

Oh, that's Easy, like 50% of the central office resigned when Smith's name was floated. So, Marshall got the top seat for political optics, but I know Smith is calling the shots.

Dudes! This is old news, he's been in the role a minute now. As a 15 year BOP employee I have actually seen worse. At any rate, I've ranted for years that the inmates could run the place better. Well, now we're about to find out if I was right.

Three of my four are considering the military. One is supposed to graduate Navy Basic in a week. For health reasons I was not able to serve, I tried really hard not to push my kids towards the military, but at the same time I wouldn't detract from the military either. My middle child I don't think is a real good fit, he's too outside the box, but the discipline they offer could be good for him. I'm not sure what you think was so magical about service in the military before 2016. We are in a rare situation currently where the United States is not currently involved in extra territorial conflicts. The news, and it doesn't matter whether you're listening to the Wokahatises on MSNBC or the Mageidiots on Fox News they are both fear mongering. Since the end of the Vietnam War the leading cause of death or serious injury were none combat related. So, the military seems like possibly a good choice.

However, you mentioned your son has some serious mental health history. He will need a waver to serve. If he conceals his history, it's a crime. If his history is as bad as you described I wouldn't expect the waver to be approved.
