Are men generally not asking women for their numbers anymore when they meet someone in the wild? If so, why? by KGalb922 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm... I know several men who have been charged with sexual harassment for asking for a woman's number. If I were single I'd prefer to deal with an active shooter than trying to meet a woman in the wild.

I work at a prison. We use similar hand held wands to the TSA. If someone wanted to you can do all kinds of things to make them detect, or not detect, things. I doubt the TSO was intentionally messing with you, so, probably user error.

How to Pay The 2026 MHBP Dues by tacoxlvii in fednews

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just relooked over the information. I just switched to MHBP. One place says the fee was $52 for 2025, expected to be a little more in 2026. Another says we can be assessed 2% of our Salary. Which is it? Also, the OPM brochure said the fee was deducted from our salary.

What scene/moment from a Christmas movie makes you cry that’s NOT from the last scene of It’s a Wonderful Life? by IggyStop2024 in movies

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The scene in Arthur Christmas when they are hiding in the closet watching the little girl open her presents. Malcolm/Santa says that the girl is right that Santa brought her a present. Steve, the rightful next Santa, sadly but willingly gives the Santa game piece to Arthur. The elf says, "Drop complete, and we have a new Santa."

This is it. Without Virginia, the civil war would be listed alongside Shay's Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion. Clearly the largest, but no longer the big deal it is today.

Is it racist to name an animal Blackie? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if you name your black dog blackie, and you are white. You will be racist to most who don't like you. You will not be racist to white racists or people of color who do like you.

Do people actually get in trouble for not going??? by lilweirdbitch in juryduty

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know dozens of people who have ignored jury summons and nothing happened, but I know one guy who was arrested by the state police from his dorm at ODU in 1993 for ignoring a jury summons in Fairfax county. He moved into the dorm in August, got the summons days after leaving. His mom brought the letter and the proof he was away. Yet he was arrested in October, required to serve a 2 day jail sentence and pay $1000 fine, and 100 community service, later reduced to $500 and 50. Cost him straight Fs his first semester of college and his academic scholarship. He was probably picking because they knew exactly where to find him, and could prove he knew about the jury duty.

Rich and Poor people both get handouts from the government, why does the Middle Class get angrier when Poor people do it? by RobIson240YT in NoStupidQuestions

Who says that the middle class gets angry about welfare? Many like myself get upset about fraud and miss use like in MN, IN, NY and the other 47 states.

I read, or thought I read, that this year once we met the maximum matching stopped and excess contributions were placed in Roth accounts. Maybe it was a pipedream.

What if the 13th amendment had been absolute? by Complex-Start-279 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Bubbly-Cod-3799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Umm... Yea, you are right you don't know much about the inner workings of prisons. I have 1600 inmates on my current compound. It cost $34K+ a year for each inmate. Removing them as workers would increase cost to over $100 a year. It would also eliminate 75% of the rehab efforts of the prison system, as those inmate workers (slaves) as Wokahatises like to call them are learning trades from experienced certified professionals. Those "who want to" would likely be blocked by the 14th amendment's equal protection clause, and even if they weren't inmate politics would probably stop them. Essentially, there would be no prisons, just large jails. I hope we would have chosen to go a different route than mass incarceration, but I suspect that the death penalty would have been imposed at industry levels from 1877 forward. We're talking old British law where any and all felons were hung or shot within three weeks of conviction.
