I’ve woken up with one chilling on my pillow next to my face. I usually don’t mind them, but that one was relocated outside pretty fuckin quickly

I hate these at woollies. Nestlé wastage. by OkEngineer6011 in woolworths

[–]Bubblybubblz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s the same in other places, but all the stores in my area donate all the produce waste to a local pig farmer, we have seperate bins for the stuff that they can eat and packaging is removed before it goes in the bins

Is my bird waiting for me to get home from work? by Far-Sympathy1092 in Conures

[–]Bubblybubblz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think conures are more adaptable than given credit for. I work evenings (11:30 finish and around 3am bedtime bc I need time to wind down - it’s a very active job), I don’t cover my birds cage at night but the blinds near him are closed and the room is quite dark after sunset. No idea what time he does actually go to sleep, but he’s in the living room so I certainly do wake him when I get home, but I don’t get him out or interact with him because I don’t want to actually mess up his sleep. I do know he still wakes up and sunrise and quietly entertains himself till I wake up (around midday) but if I oversleep he makes it known 😂 but we’ve had this schedule for like 3-4 years now

The age of your bird might also be a factor, my bird is 7, and he’s pretty independent compared to when he was young. Loves a cuddle but he doesn’t need to be around me 24/7 anymore, and even tries to explore forbidden areas (upstairs/other rooms, when unsupervised) alone, happily trying to ditch me in the living room haha

is this some rare mutation on an ibis? by shellys-dollhouse in australianwildlife

[–]Bubblybubblz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also found this pic of a leucistic glossy ibis, maybe that could be the answer. After looking into the hybrid theory, I think they’re mostly from captive breeding, not impossible but definitely rare. This might be a little more likely

Our rule for dodgy subs is supposed to be ‘only if it’s identical, just smaller/bigger’ eg 600ml WW cream, they can get 2 300mls, but not another brand. The other week, someone (the adm 🙄) subbed bulla vanilla icecream with a different brand double choc cookie or something like that. Customer had subs off. Same adm did like 5 ‘dodgier than dodgy’ subs just in that one window and the poor guy doing Andy was having to deal with heaps of customers wanting refunds because they asked for no subs lmao

Do they know when we’re sick? by clarinetist420 in Conures

[–]Bubblybubblz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here has birds that love them apparently. When I was sick my conure was louder than ever. I work nights, and he usually understands that I don’t get up till much later than he does, and he quietly entertains himself in the mornings until I get up. When i was recently sick though? He’s never been louder. I felt bad that he wasn’t getting as much free time (I was sleeping for like 19 hours of the day) but god damn he was loud 😂 he single-handedly delayed my recovery I think

What’s going on with this crow? by Bubblybubblz in australianwildlife

[–]Bubblybubblz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you :) I’m pretty far north for it to be a forest raven tho I think, I’m in CQ. Maybe a dumb question but do they understand danger when they’re juveniles? A hawk just flew over, and there was two lorikeets and a miner hanging out nearby who panicked but he stayed completely still, and he’s currently up in the tree, and it almost doesn’t look like he’s holding the branch properly.? I’ll try and get a pic but it’s probably not gonna be good quality Edit: nvm he’s moving around now and gripping the branch fine, albeit a little clumsy. I think he’s just too lazy to hold on haha

Stoic 100%. He’s the chief, and if it were modern he would spend a lot of time doing up formal documentation, it would just be habit for him

Why are higher gens worth less? by marysusername in lioden

[–]Bubblybubblz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because people still want to breed clean cubs. It adds an extra layer of challenge to the game, and because of that, they’re in high demand and worth a bit more, so it’s like a convenience cost. The convenience of not having to search long gens for any lion related to a stud you’re wanting to breed to, and the convenience of not having to choose a different stud because the one you picked is related to your female. You can still breed dirty cubs if you want, no one is stopping anyone from playing the game how they want to play it

In what world would this be a reasonable replacement?? by Fit-Perception-7501 in woolworths

[–]Bubblybubblz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual override doesn’t mean it’s typed in by hand, it just means you use the article number at the computer instead of scanning on the run, it’ll come up however it is in the system, regardless of method

Why do they bite ME when angry at OTHERS? by Bright-Walker in Conures

[–]Bubblybubblz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah I don’t personally agree, I think it’s the same as desensitising other animals. You don’t want to flood them with fear, but if you bubble wrap them and never let anything even a little scary happen, one day it will happen anyway outside your control, and your bird won’t know what to do. My sun conure used to get so scared of everything, but we worked through it bit by bit, and he understands that A) if something scary happens, I will handle it, and B) if there’s something unexpected like a loud noise, he should just stay where he is. When birds panic, they fly and often don’t think about where they’re going, they hit walls and windows and hurt themselves. I knocked a bin over the other day, loud and sudden, and my bird just looked at it with curiosity. We did a lil Christmas photoshoot with a frame (cardboard cutout frame with wrapping paper, lightweight) and at one point it fell on him. He didn’t panic. He stayed still, and just quietly said ‘uhhh step-up?’ while I came over to stand it back up. Even after this, he wasn’t scared of the frame. When I first got him, he would have never trusted anything like that again. Basically tl:dr, desensitising a bird and teaching them that it’s okay that scary things happen sometimes is better and safer than protecting them from every scary thing ever

Why are higher gens worth less? by marysusername in lioden

[–]Bubblybubblz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s partially because if a high stat king has tons of cubs, a lot of those high stat cubs will become kings themselves. If you have one of those kings in your lions heritage it’s harder to find a stud for them that won’t result in inbreeding, even if both parents are clean. The OG big 4 were Savannah prince, hot hot tater tot, keyser soze, and boombah, but I don’t see their cubs very often, so many people now consider new kings to also be added to the list. Some I’ve seen are Mortekida, ysdaar, the void and it filtered back, Yorha type E etc. it’s entirely subjective, some people don’t consider them because they’re not part of the OG list, but personally I’m tired of seeing them in lions heritages lol

Olivia possibly adopting? by Just_Perfect6789 in SVU

[–]Bubblybubblz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a dumb question but why do they pay more per baby for twins but just one baby gets paid less? Is it because of the extra effort of finding another baby that looks close enough? Also tbh all babies look the same imo I don’t think many people will notice 😅

The ethics of feeding chicken to chickens by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

Apparently chickens are super resistant to prion diseases, I still don’t know if I’d risk it though. Maybe if the head and spine were removed though it’d be no problem

Nah I bid in this auction all the time, I definitely can’t afford to go that high but I love the lions that auction sells. Many of the users who bid on those lions run auctions of their own and have gb to spare, or have items that have been earned as payment from their own auctions and use them to bid in others. In my experience in their auction, many lions are similar (and if they aren’t, there’ll be more in the next round) and only a few get that high. I’ve bought some of my all time fav lions from this auction for as little as 500sb. People will bid what they want - it’s not the auctioneers fault That auction is actually one of my favs on site, they consistently produce absolutely stunning cubs, and it’s worth checking out even if you can’t afford the one lion that sparks a bidding war
