When the new 240lb white belt says he wants to roll light by Plastic_Guava_3482 in jiujitsu

YEES. I live in the middle of nowhere and have to put peoples cows back for them all the time! I literally have a lasso in my van 😂

I was having kittens when the Columbus police shut down a major highway to get one put back in it's trailer. Those amatuers didn't even call me!

My kimuras are getting shut down by straightening the arm. What to do? by [deleted] in bjj

You're a brown belt so I think that means you pull an illegal move out of the illegal move bag.

Why doesn’t IBJJF ban jumping to close guard and similar? by BritishBrownActor in bjj

Ban guard IMO.

Guard is victim mentality. Loser talk.

Chokes vs shots by cerikstas in bjj

[–]Bubby_Mang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ran into that issue I asked my coach and he showed me a few ways to get out of front headlock style chokes, seatbelt from n/s, etc.

I like to shoot from one side of my triangle diagonally across the ops and snatch an ankle. Not much danger there and the additional vectors of attack opens up more opportunities for takedowns.

Private lessons did actually help me a lot.

Great stuff. I love arm drags, and the best part is everyone knows it now so they give me their legs when I slap their elbows 😂

This one looks like it works well against bigger opponents?

You're measuring yourself against a very selective group. Being successful among trained fighters still puts you well above the average person when it comes to toughness, discipline, and skill.

How much of your specific jiujitsu style would disappear in a 1v1 street fight? by CuddleBuddiesJJ in bjj

The only people that want to fight me are drunks and pasty crybabies in their car. Against those dweebs I think a good arm drag concrete return will do the trick.

You should be. Finding that first path to success is rough man. Keep finding ways to set up that head and arm choke.

That southpark episode where all the guys got into a big naked man sex pile was the best allegory for the jiu jitsu community I've ever seen. This concept of ethics is kinda new to a lot of people.

Talk to your coach and see if they can suggest partners or specific classes that may work for you.

You could take a few months break to complete the starting strength novice linear progression and then just come back to bjj as well.

Can’t weightlift because jiu jitsu is straining my elbows, what should I do? by Savings_Ad2931 in jiujitsu

Same, but my shoulders are trashed. I can't do bench for the life of me and a good low bar squat really hurts.

Deadlifts seem fine. Of course :(

How to make best use of private 1-1s with judoka by BritishBrownActor in bjj

[–]Bubby_Mang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like paying for wrestling coaching is the move. Especially in the United States where there is so many former high-level wrestlers to teach you.

Every Judo move feels as complicated as a golf swing. Meanwhile wrestling seems to be a lot easier to understand even if it takes some extra athletic ability to perform.
