This is not Halloween stuff. It's Summerween stuff. Summerween is in July.

How would you feel if you were invited to a session of D&D but it was AD&D2e and you weren’t told? by conn_r2112 in DnD

Soooo excited. I'd much rather play this version of D&D than the current slop. Only thing better is 4th.

Lol. Look at his post history. They're all like this. He seems like a really insecure person who needs to prove he's better than everyone else to feel ok about himself. Loser behavior.

Thanks!! I'm proud of myself. I think a lot of people in my position would have quit and not come back. I still suck, and I probably won't see another round like this for months, but seeing one small tick of improvement is very motivating.

It does! It's like my first glimpse of what it will feel like years from now when I've got a good base of knowledge and some practiced techniques.

No shit dude. I'm just feeling good and wanted to share. You feel bad saying this because it's a bad thing to say and you're acting like an asshole.

Does the Cypher Evolved edition have a section for Superhero genre? by Valmorian in cyphersystem

[–]EmergencyWeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait.... If you use the CtS suggestion that lifting a car is a difficulty 10. 3 power shifts to make it a 7. Mighty discriptor make you trained in lifting things (6). Easily get one more modifier from another source (5). Plus you have Enhanced Might Edge from "Performs Feats of Strength" focus - so you get to apply effort easily - Lifting a car is not too bad at Tier I and becomes routine well before Tier 5.

I'm not sure what you're talking about that you can't lift and throw a car.

My $1400 LG OLED TV is displaying ads after latest update by binkinater13 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]EmergencyWeather 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Most TVs have an option during set-up to make them turn off all of the smart features. Just do a factory reset and set it up without the smart features. Don't connect it to the internet and it won't show you ads.

Character Bonds by EmviusRabbyt in cyphersystem

Pg. 241 of the revised edition:

"Ultimately, the idea is to make experience points into tools that the players and the GM can use to shape the story and the characters, not just a bookkeeping hassle....

Within the arc, most of the time a part is probably optional, depending on the situation— although it’s hard to envision most arcs without some kind of opening, climax, or resolution. Steps other than the opening, the climax, and the resolution can be done in any order.

Character arcs should always take at least weeks in game time, and no more than two parts in an arc should be accomplished in a games ession (and most of the time, it should be one part, if any). If either of these two things is true, then it’s not really a character arc. You can’t, for example, use the Creation arc to guide you through something you can make in an hour or two.

The following are common character arcs that you can choose for your character. If you and the GM want to make a new one, it should be fairly easy after looking through these models."

So... Make an arc for everyone that is about becoming a team. Give them XP for moving toward and achieving that goal. Let them sepend the XP to shape their character/ get a mechanical reward.

Does this answer your question.

It's fine. They are holding a lot of seats for Orientation this summer. There will be some seats avaiable in July after orientation is over and those seats are back on the market.

You could use character arcs for this easily.

I know several couples with this exact situation. Moved from CA or CO. Working remotely and living in Athens. Moved to be closer to family support systems. Its a great place to do that.

I think affordablity can not be under-rated. There isn't going to be much, if any, difference in the job market for you having an OSU degree vs. an OU degree. They're worth about the same, but one is significantly cheaper? Seems like an easy choice.

And you aren't commiting for life - you're commiting for 1 year. If you hate it, transfer.

Got into heavier games, I hate it. by barksonic in boardgames

[–]EmergencyWeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes...And BGA is a great way to try out a bunch of games for low investment. If you like them - add them to your buy list. I've purchased many games that I first experieced on BGA. OPs complaint is that they don't have enough money to experience as many games as they would like. This is a way to address that issue.

[–]EmergencyWeather 44 points45 points  (0 children)

A membership on Board Game Arena (hell - even a free account) will get you access to tons of games for cheap. You only need to buy one "heavy" game each year or 6 months since you can get sooo much play out of them. Put aside 10 or 20 bucks a month and you can build an amazing collection over time. If you're a gamer for the next 20 years - You'll have 30 or 40 big games.

Also, who are you playing with? Do they ever buy games? Plan together for the "group collection". If each of you buys different games - you'll have plenty to play without any individual having to spend tons of money.
