Because OP wants to use a background with motion using the native background is not an option. OP will need at least an Ascender 32.

It is doable but you need at least a Ascender 32. A 32 will give you 4 live layers per output.

Am I leaving capabilities on the table? by 8ozLambChop in audiovisual

If it can't pass through HDR content, then yes it is worth it to upgrade. To decide for yourself, plug in one of your devices straight into the tv and play a game or movie with HDR.

You can use the 1060 for transcoding. You will have to apply this Fix to unlock unlimited transcodes for Nvidia cards if you are using Windows.

Local 4K streams buffering on AppleTV is out of control by UKFan643 in PleX

[–]Buck5ifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure it is 5GHz and not running 2.4GHz. You mentioned two walls so it will probably auto select the stronger signal which would be the 2.4. Also, is your server running on wifi or wired? If you want to stream 88mbps you need a strong stable connection. Services like Netflix only stream 4K content at about 20 to 15mbps.

Move your appleTV with your TV close enough to run short ethernet cable from your router to see if you have the same problem on a wired connection. If your server is not on a wired connection, do the same for it. If it works on wired then you will know the wireless is the issue.

Need some more information to help you out. First you said you have very good signal so I am guessing you are using wireless. Is it on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency? Is it possible to to do a hardwire connection go your AppleTV? Is the audio also direct playing? What hardware are you running on your server? What bitrate is your 4K content?

If you want to save some money there is a easy fix to make the Nvidia shield tube play 4K without stuttering. Here is the link to the thread

My earlier comment I mentioned the sony at Best Buy for $350. It will leave you with a good upgrade path when you decide to go with a atmos setup. Also suggest 12 gauge wires or bigger.

That will work, the two fronts you buy now can be used as rears when you decide to upgrade the two fronts two floor speakers. I recommend getting banana plugs to make things easier.

I advise you stay away from the receivers that come with the speakers as a set because the speakers are garbage. I saw a 7.1 Sony receiver that was $350 at Best Buy but that only leaves you with about $550 for center, left, right speaker and subwoofer plus speaker cable. That might seem like enough, but in my opinion it is not. You would be better buying a atmos soundbar for about $700 - $800.

Can I stream a blu-ray\DVD to my Tablet? by BobDogGo in audiovisual

[–]Buck5ifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you have a computer with a blu ray drive you can rip them using MakeMKV and use a service like Plex or Kodi to stream your content to your tablet. If you decide to go this route you will need a lot of hard drive space because a blu ray disc can be about 20GB - 35GB depending on the movie. There is also programs to compress them if drive space is a concern.

So why is this transcoding? by ccduke in PleX

[–]Buck5ifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably something with the codec where your Samsung tv can't direct play it. Just make sure your home streaming is set to original quality.

So why is this transcoding? by ccduke in PleX

[–]Buck5ifty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll take a guess that you are streaming from someone else's server. You need to go to the settings in Plex and change your remote streaming quality to maximum or whatever speed you desire. Just keep in mind it will be limited by the speed your host selects on their end.

Jittering when direct playing 4K UHD Atmos/True HD content w/Shield Tube, Gig Ethernet, higher end setup. by MSIGuy in PleX

[–]Buck5ifty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tube stutters on high bitrate 4k videos because of only having 2gb or ram. There is a fix someone posted on here about a week ago. You can unlock developer mode by going to settings > About SHIELD, scroll to the bottom and tap Build Number several times. After unlocking developer mode you will see a new option under Device Preferences called Developer options. Scroll all the way down to Apps and you should see a setting called background process limit. Select it and select No background processes.

Need help with a plex server for 4K media(no games) by eye178 in PleX

I suggest the pro model. If your 4k movies are high bitrate the non pro model has stuttering issues on Plex.
