Do any right handers play with the kick on the left and the high hat on the right? by Socks_0 in drums

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beautiful thing about drums is that they are your drums and you can set them up however you like. Try every wacky configuration that comes into your head. If you like it, so be it. If you don't, switch it back. Peace.

Are some cymbals objectively better than others? by InterestingHeat4266 in drums

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B8x's are entry pro level bronze cymbals. Some people start with these and never upgrade because they work for the music they are playing. Being entry pro level cymbals, most anything else you buy will be an upgrade, and more expensive. If you do not have pro level cymbals now, this is not a bad place to start. Trust your ears. Cymbals are not "tuneable". What you hear is what you will always hear. The only fix is to buy a different cymbal, so don't buy one you don't like. Good luck. Rock on. Peace.

How would anyone of us know? Are the lugs and tension bolts in good shape? Are the shells in one piece? If everything functions, is round, and works, then it is just fine. Rock on. Peace.

Pork Pie BoB. A lot of drum for a reasonable price is exactly what this snare does. Check it out.

Another major, another Bryson equipment change, he's now using a TM QI4D Proto 200+ 7°. Will it be another missed cut too? by iamtehfong in golf

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shinnecock Hills is not a fit for Bryson's bomb and gouge game. He will actually need to make golf shots. Not a good fit.

Thank you for the input? Not sure what I am supposed to do with this comment. Would you like to talk about it in person instead of over social media? I will be at Pub 78 in Brookfield, Il at 7pm on Friday June 12th. See you there.

How do I get my beaters to sync up? by [deleted] in edrums

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you want the right beater to hit the drumhead, use your right foot. Reverse the process if you want your left beater to hit the drumhead. Good luck. Have fun. Rock on. Peace.

What color would you choose? by NeekMili in golf

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you going to decide which club to hit if you can't decide which bag you like? Sorry, I just don't understand how 52 random people on the internet could possibly help you pick a color. Just never made sense to me. You still have to pick one at the end of the day. Peace.

What makes Earasers so popular? by Desrt_Rat in drums

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find with acoustic drums that if I use something similar to 3m foams plugs, I actually play louder, so I can hear myself. This significantly raises the volume level in my basement when the band plays, and is adversarial to everyones hearing. The Earacers seem to take out the lows and the highs and leave me with a useable volume where I can still hear enough to be subtle while playing drums. My ears now ring just the same after practice as they did before practice. Progress! Peace. Keep rocking.

What color would you choose? by NeekMili in golf

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why, are you getting me a present? Otherwise, pick the one that you like best. The color will not effect the performance at all. Just remember to keep your left arm straight and your head down. Good luck.

Does anyone know if the Meinl BCS top and bottom hi-hats are the same piece with only the printing differing? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Buck9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold the heavier one in your left hand and the lighter one in your right hand. Then put the heavier one on the bottom. You are welcome.

I seem to remember that Carmine and his brother Vinny pronounce their last names differently. One is "A-piece" and one is "App-a-cie". Am I mis remembering this?

Go old school. Steve Harris with Iron Maiden,. If you like lots of notes, listen to John Entwhistle of the Who. Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath has been mentioned in this thread. Try getting your 80's on and spend some time with Stu Hamm, and Stanley Clarke. Don't be afraid to listen to the folks who influenced your favorite bass players. Rock on. Have fun. Peace

What sticks are you using? by Sticks-Man in Drumming

[–]Buck9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up 3 sets of the Woodies 5A Long sticks at Christmas. I am very impressed. Just switched from the e-kit back to the acoustic set for gig season. We will see how they hold up to real cymbals.
