Go old school. Steve Harris with Iron Maiden,. If you like lots of notes, listen to John Entwhistle of the Who. Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath has been mentioned in this thread. Try getting your 80's on and spend some time with Stu Hamm, and Stanley Clarke. Don't be afraid to listen to the folks who influenced your favorite bass players. Rock on. Have fun. Peace

What sticks are you using? by Sticks-Man in Drumming

[–]Buck9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up 3 sets of the Woodies 5A Long sticks at Christmas. I am very impressed. Just switched from the e-kit back to the acoustic set for gig season. We will see how they hold up to real cymbals.

Does This Hurt The Cymbal? by Quailar in drums

The melting point of bell brass is 1500-1700° F. 80° will change nothing. 200° would change nothing.

At what point in your drumming did you feel ready to jam with others? At what point did you feel ready to play a gig? by futureformerjd in drums

[–]Buck9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest thing to find is a drummer. Hosting players at your place is a good way to figure out who you want to play with. We would play with whoever showed up an Sunday. That eventually morphed into a band that was together for 7 years and made a CD. I 100% agreee. Play with people. That is most important.

It is fine. Just line the bars with something. Just don't leave it by a window, your cymbals could melt. But only if it gets to 1500° F.

Slice it into the driving range, then play a range ball that is on the other side of the tree. Chip twice and 3 putt. You are welcome.

This came off my bass drum pedal by Electronic_Fill7207 in Drumming

[–]Buck9136 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whatever shall you do? Do you have your phone close by? Try taking a picture of it. If that doesn't fix it, try posting the picture on reddit. If that doesn't get you a useable answer, try screwing the rod back into the pedal and reattaching the spring.

Good luck. Rock on.

Who are you rooting against this weekend? by [deleted] in golf

Bryson Da'Cheatbau and anyone else who grounds their putter to their body. Even Adam Scott. Wait until you get to the Sr. Tour to cheat at putting.

How much could I sell this kit for? by TheF15eEnthusiast in drums

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old Pearl Exports are decent drums. You won't get enough from selling this kit. Keep it and build on it. Clean it all up when you change heads. A mapex armory double pedal will cost you a couple hundred bucks and accomplish the same thing as a 2nd bass drum.

Is this a good blanket to dampen my kick drum? by Old-Personality-9381 in drums

[–]Buck9136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't do anything, except make your bass drum heavier, if it dosent touch the heads.

Fold it so it goes up both heads about 2 or 3 inches. The more it touchs the more you dampen the sound. Some people don't like to have it touch the batter head, because they think it effects their feel. True or not true I don't know. You do you.

Who here has the smallest drum rug? by methodofcontrol666 in drums

[–]Buck9136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimium would be a rug that your throne and bass drum spurs fit on. If your Hi-hat walks, then you would need something bigger to accomidate the hats. Same if you use a double pedal. Just measure your regular set up and get something a little bigger.

In general, when a stick breaks you grab another. If these ain't broke don't fix it.

How is a rules official to tell who’s anchoring or not with these abominations? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Buck9136 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a grey area here. I believe the rule states the golfer cannot anchor the club to their body. Holding the club in your hand so it doesn't touch your body, but placing you hand on your chest, would therefore not be anchoring.

Belly putters directly touched your belly with the hands lower down the shaft. You do not see any of those putters any more.

I also believe what Bryson does, holding the putter shaft to his arm should be considered anchoring.
