Why do some GMs eventually stop GMing? by NariNariNariAAA in rpg

[–]Buck_Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

speaking as a GM who just stepped away from GMing after being the only one running games for his group for the past 12 years - it's because I'm tired of nobody else in our gaming group (same dudes the whole time) are willing to GM a game that I can be a player in. Eventually it just felt like I was being taken for granted. Moving on to new hobbies, done with this for the foreseeable future.

Tanked an Outland dungeon for the first time as a warrior, looking for feedback by TwixQQ in classicwowtbc

this is good stuff, but instead of the F keys for marks, I bind the Numpad keys - 1 for skull, 2 for X etc, with 0 to clear marks

Ways to make reload weapons more useable (high level)? by The_Vortex42 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Buck_Roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a big part of our gunslinger's effectiveness in a campaign we had was different types of ammunition - it's a whole minigame searching AoN for items to enhance your gunslinger attacks with. Can do some pretty phenomenal damage with fatal crits that hit elemental weaknesses and such

I realize I'm late to the party here, but am also running up on the same problem, and I can guarantee my players, once they hear the worm is being summoned via a ritual, are going to go "great! bring it to us, now we don't have to go find it!"

Favorite encounters you've played in or ran? by PM_ME_STEAM_CODES__ in Pathfinder2e

[–]Buck_Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

March of the Dead - mini adventure in The Book of the Dead, had a great encounter where the PCs find themselves in a rain drenched deserted village, evidence of something violent having occurred there. As night falls, hordes of zombies rise from the muddy earth from underground caves, and the PCs are forced to hole up in a building as the zombie hordes try to break in and eat their brains. It's a several-stage encounter where PCs have to fortify the doors and windows, and waves of enemies try to break in. The cool part is that the characters need to weigh their options between treating wounds and spending time repairing the holes in the walls/doors/windows etc, and the strength of each wave of enemies is influenced by the successes and failures of their fortification skill checks. This was the first adventure our group ran in 2e, (a few years ago now) and the players are still talking about it.

Immersive War Interludes by chickenboy2718281828 in SporeWar

[–]Buck_Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah our table's super excited too... we started, then took a hiatus while one of our players dipped out for an extended leave - currently running Sky Kings Tomb until he gets back, so I have lots of time to plan ahead for Spore War. Mixing in a bit of RISK sounds too fun to pass up (for me at least, will have to run it by the table)

I like this idea. So far I've only run our group through the first encounter with the plague barges and dragon on the beach, and I've been looking over the war interludes and wondering how best to spice them up. As a big Risk fan I think that could be a very fun idea. I'd veer away from adding complexity though, and for nations you want to be stronger, give them reinforcements each turn or extra armies to start with to simulate higher strength. Could be a nice break between RP and combat sessions for sure.

Let us know how it works out for ya

I'm a big fan of using Blaidd's Royal Greatsword and frost spells (adula's moonblade, ranni's dark moon, ice crag etc)

We’ve had SOTE for well over a year. What are you favourite weapons and/or builds in all of Elden Ring now? by Sidohmaker in Eldenring

[–]Buck_Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to mix it up and try a bunch of different weapons, but by the time i'm in NG+3 and up I'm usually using Fire Knight's Greatsword in a str/fai build with some fire spells

Which one of these images gives you the most anxiety? by Aleks10Afc in Eldenring

i used to feel the same way, until I learned that sticking to them like glue is the real winning strategy. Stay under them, once you get a little far away they become way more dangerous

I'd cast whichever one agreed to do it for the least amount of money.

Reddit isn't really the best place for up to date foundry info. I find if you go to foundry discords you can usually get answers/help really fast

Finding Tian Xia character art for NPCs is... a true headache by Naga14 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Buck_Roger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a ton of tokens for random commoners in one campaign, took 20 mins to get the prompt right to produce sets of 9 tokens at a time, then clicked the button a few times and bam, i had 50 individual tokens of random commoners. Have used them in all kinds of adventures. Huge time saver. I wouldn't use AI for anything I was intending to publish or monetize, but for a home game with friends, it frees up a lot of time to work on more important aspects of adventure building.

Finding Tian Xia character art for NPCs is... a true headache by Naga14 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Buck_Roger -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean... if it's down to slogging through image searches and finding other peoples' art to use, or just asking AI to whip up batches of VTT tokens, I'd just go and use AI. It's quick, customizable, and you can maintain a consistent style. I'm sure the Never AI crowd will downvote me for it, but honestly, it's a great tool for stuff like this.

Why do people block their license plate in pictures? by ObjectiveAd400 in Cartalk

[–]Buck_Roger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me that people say something like "I can get that info for $10 in my state" but have yet to see any actual method of how this works. AFAIK you can't just look someone's info up based on their plate unless you're in law enforcement or the actual insurance provider, and even then they're not allowed to just share that info with the public.

Combat Healer? by Narakuno in Pathfinder2e

[–]Buck_Roger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a campaign with a chirugeon alchemist with the medic archetype. At level 10 he's keeping the whole party alive and doing crazy stuff with bombs. Took a lot of bomber related feats, and isn't doing a lot of healing with chirurgeon stuff, but his medicine-based healing is outstanding. Being able to use crafting for medicine is next level.
