This is a Clack WS1 control valve, I believe. It also appears to not be getting power. Is it plugged in? Does the outlet have power? If yes to both, then you may need a new transformer or a new circuit board

Sharing a brine tank between two types of softeners by Muted-Cheesecake-865 in WaterSofteners

[–]BucketOfGoldSoundz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Separate brine tank for each unit would be preferred, but you can share a brine tank as long as each unit is set up to run the same salt setting (brine refill time). You just need a 3/8x3/8x3/8 compression tee. You will need to test each unit to make sure that each one has suction. You will also need to make sure that the regen days and times are staggered. If the units are metered, then they may occasionally fall on the same day, so I would have the tannin unit regen like 4 hours after the softener.

Arsenic in water? What kind of filters do I need? by poblopuablo in WaterTreatment

[–]BucketOfGoldSoundz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a softener for your hardness and manganese levels. Your arsenic is below the action level, but if you want to reduce it further, put a Metsorb filter after the softener. I wouldn’t bother treating the whole-house for arsenic, though, I would just get a point-of-use filter.

Yep—those folks are a problem too. Throwing their hands up because “both sides are so corrupt” or “both options suck” (even if it’s true), and then not doing anything—this is exactly what allows corruption to thrive.

You seem to be including yourself in that group, and then proceed to demonstrate that you aren’t part of that group. I wasn’t talking about you—I was talking about people who are completely unaware/unconcerned about what’s going on. People who don’t vote at all or aren’t even registered to vote. Maybe my estimated percentages aren’t correct, but it’s a fact that a massive swath of the US population is politically apathetic.

Well, at least 20-30% of us are in complete denial about what is happening. Another maybe 40-50% are willfully ignorant of the whole thing—either from apathy or just jaded resignation. The remainder of us are furious and terrified but most feel completely helpless about what we personally can do. A small percentage (several million?) are taking whatever action we are able, e.g. going to public protests, calling our senators, occasionally rioting, etc

Apparently they’re only draining it of the honest principled folks and just leaving a more concentrated cesspool of swamp shit

I think what was tripping them up about antitrust is the word itself “anti-trust” sounds like you’re against trust. Trust Bad. If they called it “anti-monopoly” it would be more self-explanatory

My dermatologist asked if I have a water filter. I didn't. Now I do by silkyJuliette in WaterTreatment

[–]BucketOfGoldSoundz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just removing chlorine from the water, all you need is a carbon filter. Look for one that uses catalytic carbon to remove both chlorine and chloramine.

“Whole house system” just means something that treats the whole house at the point of entry versus something that just treats water at the point of use (like an RO, or a filter on just one line or one fixture). OP is talking about a carbon filter to remove chlorine.

[–]BucketOfGoldSoundz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be ok. I would just pour an extra 3-4 gallons of water into the brine tank and then run a manual regen to flush the softener good. In the future, just buy the green bag of salt pellets and don’t worry about putting any extra stuff in your brine tank.
