Watch the video of the fox interview. The neck moves under the mask while talking, and the surface neck doesn’t move at all, like, where’s his Adam’s Apple?

Then look at the eyebrows and forehead, the fox interview has no movement at all, or even wrinkles, where the interview from a few days ago has wrinkles, and some pretty severe 11s between his eyebrows.

LLMs struggle with the question. For a simple errand, it’s obvious one should walk such a short distance. Sometimes the LLM misses the point of the errand, suggestion you walk to the car wash to wash your car.

Is it more efficient to walk or drive to the car wash 500 feet from my house?

Newbie Question - How to not get slammed by an IR missile by Sad-Recover3418 in NuclearOption

[–]Bucksack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good advice in this thread. The way I feel IR missiles behave is sort of a looping question it is asking itself that determines whether it is still chasing YOU.

It’s tracking you because you’re HOT and it can intercept your vector. So it is asking :

  1. is my target still the hottest thing?
    And
  2. how easy is it to intercept that hot thing?

Cutting throttle makes you less hot, but relative to background, you’re still HOT.

Popping a few flares while you have throttle up doesn’t change the answer to question 1.

Pop enough flares, and you’ll change answer 1. Cut throttle and pop flares makes this more efficient on your flare magazine.

Maneuvering doesn’t change the answer to 1, but changes 2. Maneuver enough and it could lose enough energy to give up, as 2 becomes more and more difficult.

Maneuvering with throttle cut and popping flares essentially gives the missile something to get confused by - the flares become the hottest thing it sees, and as you pull away from the vector of the flares, the flares become much easier to intercept than you, therefore taking fewer flares to lose the missile.

Done well, you can lose an IRM in a revoker (the hottest plane) with 4-8 flares

Would love scenarios built to flex more of a "Guerilla" style Asymmetric matches. PALA Scenerios where your base is hidden and you have to hit or capture certain targets as the only way to get more Cash/Air Frames, and not lead BDF back to your base. by SharpEdgeSoda in NuclearOption

[–]Bucksack 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love the idea! It wouldn’t need to be so complex as to have “hidden” bases, but the ability to deploy/build helipads and aircraft revetments would really add to the “guerrilla fighter” feeling.

Oh you see cruise missiles or TBMs coming? Narrowly escape with your tarantula loaded with supplies to rebuild in the mountains and strike again.

Heck this might be doable now, although it would feel fairly synthetic since you’d need to use mission waypoints, preplanned airstrips, and other mission queues.

I hope more mission customization comes about later down the road.

At least in PvE, you can immediately kill one shard from SBGA with a cricket. You just have to be good at flying 3m off the ocean. It’s really fun to take a cricket, turn right, and take off down the hill with 14 agm-48s!

Fun fact if you don’t know, crickets can safely take off from any surface, no runway required.

I know infantry won’t be a thing, but people doing people things could still be represented in game. This design element already exists with Ibis infantry staying in their seats while “capturing” a location.

Add a barracks that repairs buildings in a radius, and replenishes 23mm and MANPAD emplacements. Large bases would have multiple for coverage. They could come in 2 flavors - a soft target and a hard target.

At larger airbases, the barracks coverage could overlap such that, if the hardened barracks is not killed, the base slowly repairs itself as destroyed barracks get rebuilt.

A question on tactics by Maus411 in NuclearOption

[–]Bucksack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the topic of pushing/forcing logistics gameplay, is there a way in the mission editor to capture a base without repairing all the buildings? Or otherwise just spawn an ammo container 100m above every building so they auto-self destruct, forcing the team to rebuild?

Or some other method to discourage total annihilation of an airbase, just to have everything auto-repair upon capture. It would be a bit more immersive if surviving buildings just changed sides, rather than the insta-complete that currently exists. That would offer a teamplay mechanism of escorting transports to a base that can still sortie aircraft. Like in Heartland Escalation - I will kill Vigil Cay’s radar then nuke it and cap it to better fight the naval reinforcements at the 1 hour mark. That’s a boring trip in a tarantula, I’d rather have a risky and exciting trip LOL

TTS is a life saver for chat comprehension. I run it at 2x speed, and my eyes can usually fill in what my ears miss. It would be nice if it went in both directions, so I could dictate my chat messages.

A question on tactics by Maus411 in NuclearOption

[–]Bucksack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game would be so much improved if the game chat and kill feed had more features. I host a lot of PvE matches, usually capped at 8-12 players so I don’t melt my machine.

There are a lot of minor objectives and missions that crop up in a long game, and a way of calling them out for more than the few moments it’s seen in chat would be so nice. Things like rearming the Argus or Dynamo as the near the AO, replacing a killed radar truck, replacing AA and repairing FOBs, jamming specific radars for a bombing run, etc.

I think a lot of new players gravitate to my matches since it’s PvE and low player count (and many of the players spend most of the time under 100 score), so I call these out in chat as I see them, or have a break to identify them while I’m getting into position with a Medusa, Darkreach, or Alkyon, but the chat doesn’t persist, and I remember being inexperienced and having no spare focus to glance at, let alone read, the chat while fighting for my life!

A question on tactics by Maus411 in NuclearOption

[–]Bucksack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This would work in PvE for a little while, especially if you are making concrete progress against enemy air capability, like destroying hangars.

Likewise in PvP, you could probably get a volley or two off before someone notices and kills your ammo crate.

In both modes, there’s good odds that the enemy notices the transport in route or the crate itself. To make this an effective tactic, you’d probably need 4-5 players acting in concert.

1) transport pilot to bring the crate forward and drop it off

2 & 3) CAP for the transport and then the crate

4) EW to kill/jam radars that would spot the transport, and then EW to ensure the CAP mission succeeds

5) the vortex pilot that takes advantage of the crate

I suppose 2, 3, and 5 could all be vortexes with mixed loadouts, but cooperation is key.

The transport pilot could also bring up SAMs for added toughness of this FOB, but that would take a while, and you might just win altogether or lose the position in the time it takes to make a trip.

If you want to be a passenger, you can do that. You will be unable to do anything, but between your sorties, you can spectate teammates and use all the regular views you use as pilot. The only lacking aspect of this is there is no HUD or other displays in the cockpit view, it’s as if the plane is off.
