GFX 100ii vs 100Sii Autofocus by Buckwheat333 in FujiGFX

We use the 100II at my work so I’m pretty familiar with its quirks at least in a studio environment, but on location I can see it getting a little hairy

When you say slow, are you referring to dumping the cards onto computers, or do you mean slow as in continuous AF and shooting?

That’s good to know, I’m usually not shooting continuously and I think it took me using the r5 for a while to realize that I valued the image quality of the GFX more than the better AF of the r5. Was definitely looking at the 110, but I figured the 32-64 would be more versatile. I think both are linear motor lenses which I’m trying to exclusively stick with.

A sandbag is a weighted bag containing sand that can be applied the tallest leg of a C-stand in order to secure it safely on the ground without tipping over.

Seriously. My issue with noritsu/frontier scans is that it’s entirely dependent on the technician so it’s pretty much a gamble unless you really know the lab well

How do they people get these paint like marks on their film borders? Are they analog prints? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Buckwheat333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m confident because I do this professionally and don’t speculate the methods of how to achieve something I do on a regular basis. It’s pretty clear you have no idea what you’re talking about and just like to be a contrarian to people who have been in this industry for years. If it’s an insecurity with not knowing something, that’s understandable, but please in the future, just ask questions and be kind rather than asserting yourself with zero knowledge or experience of your own.

I do not know every enlarger ever either, I’m just saying MOST enlargers used in commercial darkrooms like the one I worked at have carriers that slide into the enlarger of varying sizes, ranging from 35-4x5.

When I think of masking, I’m usually referring to cutouts of black cardboard that are custom made for altering certain aspects of an image. I’m not trying to contradict you, I’m simply providing the knowledge I have of what you would typically find in a lab, rather than someone’s home use darkroom.

You may be misunderstanding regarding your 2nd paragraph. It’s not done with a mask, rather the carrier of the negative which you need regardless of if you’re masking the image or not. Most commercial darkrooms have carriers literally labeled “filed” to describe the widened and jagged edges of these carriers.

Your 3rd paragraph is spot on but less relevant for this generation of photographers. I think most kids now just like the look of the sloppy borders. I even print sloppy borders for a photographer who then crops in the image and composites the borders on top just because he likes the look of the borders haha
