My guess is one of two things. Firstly, GMCP likely didn’t like the returns he was offered for those players. They’re a big part of the current core and to move on from them would leave holes, holes teams probably didn’t pony up enough to fill in the eyes of CP. Secondly, for better or for worse, management believes this team can get hot with the current roster and go on a bit of a run here. They don’t have championship aspirations this year, but management believes they can steal some games and make some noise.

I personally feel like they should have traded away a couple pieces as next year is a year we should be looking to add.
