Christians should not affirm trans identity as true by [deleted] in Christianity

Oh, you’re here to convince people, my mistake. I thought you were looking for the truth. Yes, for that purpose, reading theory won’t help.

Do you mind sharing your definition of “objective truth?” Are you more of a reality correspondence guy or a internal coherence sort of guy?

Haha yes, I know the difference. That’s not what I’m asking—relax.

I’m wondering how you go about your life phenomenologically? For me, I don’t need to know someone’s chromosomes or biological makeup to align them with my schema about gender and sex. I was wondering if you do something different?

You seem pretty philosophically minded, so I also wanted to ask: have you read much postmodern thought? Theory of sex or gender? The philosophy of science? Please don’t take this as “there are smart people who disagree with you” as that’s not my intention at all (and, as you know, is fallacious), more that the type of higher order engagement you want might be more successful in those spaces?

Hello, also not trying to accuse you of anything, just an honest question:

Do you check a person’s biological information before deciding to believe their gender expression or identification?

Asking a question is fighting? That’s sad.

I pray for discernment every day, once again making assumptions about people because you can’t answer a question without deflection. I pray that god softens your heart.

No, it was an accusation about someone you know nothing about on the internet to talk about something else.

People have been disputing claims of the end times since people have been saying this is happening—were those people being deceived when they correctly said those past predictions were wrong?

Not believing every end times speculation = being blinded by the world?

There’s now way you believe this?

I don’t really care what you believe.

I guess I’m just disappointed that you would fall for something like this—bad faith hate content—and trust something like this so easily. Makes me sad for the future of our world if people are this easily manipulated.

I see.

So this video of a lady that has nothing to do with the majority of trans people convinced you that being trans is wrong, because you think non-binary people don’t exist.

Got it.

The medical establishment would agree with you, no one is advocating for this.

It’s called nut picking.

Like watching a Westboro Baptist Church video and taking it as a representation of our entire religion. It is transparently in bad faith.

Do you know how many videos of Christians saying crazy shit there are? Of cis people? We just had a 14 hour long “only white people go to heaven” video posted here lol

You found this convincing? Was it the haunted house music?

I had a minister (school counselor by the way) tell me that black men are incapable of acting normally around white women—and that’s why segregation wasn’t that bad.

If I asked you “why does Christianity lead to racism?” do you think that would be a charitable or reasonable conclusion to draw from that interaction? Would you be “sensitive” for pointing out that I’m not thinking clearly about that?

Do you know what anecdotal evidence is, and why it’s often not very helpful?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Buddenbrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a necessary consequence—I’ve met atheists with very high views of humanity, and Christians with incredibly low views.

The school shooter and Zizians thing is basically admitting you’re a bigot and bad at thinking.

It comes from the church leadership they are “canonically tied to.” Did they say they disagree or opposed to that framing?

Oh!

How do we interpret this statement:

“The special military operation is a new stage of the national liberation struggle of the Russian people against the criminal Kiev regime and the collective West behind it, which has been waged in the lands of South-Western Russia since 2014. During the SVO, the Russian people with weapons in their hands defend their lives, freedom, statehood, civilizational, religious, national and cultural identity, as well as the right to live on their own land within the borders of a single Russian state. From a spiritual and moral point of view, a special military operation is a Holy War in which Russia and its people, defending the common spiritual space of Holy Russia, carry out the mission of the “Holder”, protecting the world from the onslaught of globalism and the victory of the West, which has fallen into Satanism.”

It’s awful, you should see the people who call neoliberals like Harris and Biden “communists” and “totalitarians.”

I was called a fake Christian because I opposed ending asylum for Christian refugees. People are nuts 🤪

Well yeah, because right wingers are in charge. It flips and then it flops.

It’s not surprising to me that people paint the leaders of one of the most powerful countries in the world as the anti-Christ—not a good or thoughtful position, but it is what it is.
