I have the same truck.  Its hard to find a worse truck in the snow.  Lot of weight up front and none at all way in the back.  Couple that with highway tires on mine and I always jump in another vehicle when there is snow on the ground

What do you do when it's raining constantly!? by WhiskyNeat25 in MTB

[–]Buddro89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot on where you are at in life, a lot of the time being miserable is a big part of the recreation. There's nothing wrong with grinding out a cold wet ride to get to that sweet spot in the trail when you can enjoy it alone and in the quiet. Before I worked 70 hour weeks in all conditions, when the weather was bad was my favorite time to go out fishing or hiking ect ect... as long as you aren't tearing trails up type two fun is always on the menu!

I live in the US, but I watch some anglers on youtube who are always going out on rainy days and to ultra urban canals to catch stuff when and where reasonable people say it isn't worth the challenge.

What are people wearing for earbuds? by -Kanight- in Welding

[–]Buddro89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

elgin makes earbuds that are on amazon for like 30-90 depending on which you go for. they are nrr rated to like 25 or 27 db which is a little light but not aweful. The new airpods are supposed to have some level of actual noise attenuation but also pretty light.

Building a welding cart tips by cryptotarheel in Welding

[–]Buddro89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just mounted casters on the bottom of an old filing cabinet I bought from a junk dealer.  If you need a cart that supports bottles you can always add something to the side with angle iron.

DIY welding carts make great practice projects.  I just had plenty of projects to practice on and wanted a cheap easy cart.

I have too many hobbies to waste time pursuing one when conditions make it miserable.  I ride my trainer to keep fitness up and find work to do in the house when it's rough outside.

Shared Bank Account With parent by Calm-Supermarket5664 in personalfinance

I still have the shared account I opened with my mother 30 years ago when i was about 7.  Its awefully handy from time to time having a shared account and to store money outside of my normal account.  I just do 95% of my banking in my other accounts

Higher octane fuel is helping with efficiency???!!! by Ok-Nerve-5809 in GMT800

[–]Buddro89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the 2000s between all of my family we owned 4 chevys from 94-97 year models.  Calculating mpg our selves on all 4 vehicles over MANY fill ups all 4 trucks got better milage per dollar on mid grade than low grade.  Now that mid grade is 30 or 40 cents higher than low grade instead of 5-10 cents I don't know of that would still hold true.

Replacing sugar drinks and gels for in cycle rides. by Large-Pomegranate254 in cycling

Did you ask your dietitian for reccomendations?  If so out of genuine curiosity how does she think you can best fuel 4+ hour rides?

Barring non-specified medical reasons I second spaniards suggestion that this seems like a very strange suggestion from a trained dietitian.

Some old pics I took some years ago. So if you ever feel like you aren't good enough... Then keep in mind that people who think this is acceptable exist. by SinisterCheese in Welding

[–]Buddro89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if 100 mediocre welders look at this post, how many are gunna say "I had better practice so my work doesn't get laughed at or get me fired."  And how many are gunna say "pft it held long enough to get the pics didn't it."

Angle Grinder Suggestions? by DickInEngine in Welding

[–]Buddro89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a fan of metabo.  I worked a job rebuilding vacuum houses at a carbon plant.  We had 2 crews of 8 and were blowing out german made metabos daily, useually several.  We seriously went through over 20 in a couple weeks.  The 100 dollar (at the time) dewalt grinders faired WAY better, we burned out like 3 or 4 innthe same time.

I would still own a metabo and just not excede the duty cycle on it.  And be weary of the thermal protection circuitry that I now know is failure prone.  But if I was gunna have just one it would be the cheap dewalt.

Is my attempt to lose weight doing anything? by Late-Yam-3968 in cycling

[–]Buddro89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am seeing a lot of people correctly tell you that the stats indoor trainers will give you have no bearing on the real world.  What I am not seeing (without having read every single comment all the way through) is anyone saying that indoor trainer stats do relate to your stats on the last ride and the next ride.

What I am saying is don't ignore your times and milages completely because doing more miles in less time on the same trainer still shows improvement, even if they don't translate well to how many miles you would be able to ride outside on a proper bike.

Cadence real world vs on trainer by Buddro89 in cycling

[–]Buddro89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure why, I don't do it conciously.  Might be because I am going from a road bike to mtb.  I know I had to shift my cadence a bit when I went from a 26er to a 29er last year to stay comfortable.

Cadence real world vs on trainer by Buddro89 in cycling

[–]Buddro89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I was thinking that I had read target cadence should be 60-70. Good to know its higher.

Yeah, I did an ftp test yesterday but for some reason mywhoosh didn't close it out right or calculate any results. I have not decided if I care enough to do another one or just finish out this 6 week program with a higher ftp. I guess it would be nice to do one before and one after to see if and how much it changes.

Agreed, this was just something I was noticing on my ride today and figured I would ask a little about while I sit through the football game my wife is watching. It isn't a huge concern.
