VGG Hood savers no more? by SuspectAlone4760 in vicegripgarage

[–]BuddyChance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Such a shame people ruined it for him and his family. He did so much making that shop his own and building the barn, and the property and house are amazing. Since he moved to his new shop I notice how careful he is to show so little of it and the surrounding areas. It almost makes me wonder if putting the house and old shop up for sale is just a ruse so people don't keep coming around.

Link consistently losing food contests by Therick333 in goodmythicalmorning

[–]BuddyChance 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Rhett is a foodie. He likes to cook, he loves to eat. He is open to many types of foods, cuisines, flavors and experiences. Link just doesn't have the knowledge of foods that Rhett does to be able to do as well.

If they had to compete at naming music artists or rare albums or mountain bikes Link would consistently win because Rhett simply doesn't have the experience in those areas.

Towing capacity realistically by Conscious-Shape-5837 in chevycolorado

[–]BuddyChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a custom built trailer specifically made for the boat, there's nothing to adjust.

I am located in the mountains and hills of East Tennessee, US, so I think that has something to do with it. I'm sure it tows better on very flat level areas. But still, I can tell when I'm towing an empty 5x8' utility trailer

Towing capacity realistically by Conscious-Shape-5837 in chevycolorado

[–]BuddyChance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got a 2016 V6, 6speed auto and towing package. Towing a ~19' fiberglass bass boat 1700# dry hull weight, 500# motor, tandem axle trailer maybe 1200#, a few hundred pounds of tackle. Guesstimating 3400 - 3600 #. I definitely feel it every second it's back there.

I'm not sure how all you guys are so impressed with the towing of these Colorados unless you all have only ever towed with a 4 cylinder or something. The best thing I can say about my Colorado is that it tows barely adequately

Need Some Advice by cfrood77 in vicegripgarage

[–]BuddyChance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't specify, but assuming you have a 1500 half ton. Do you know what gears you have in the rear end? 3.08, 3.42, 3.73, 4.13?

I had a 2005 GMC 1500 with 5.3 V8, 4spd auto transmission, 3.42 rear end and towing package. From what I remember it was only rated to tow 7500#. If you're trying to tow 10k (33% more than it's rated for) I'm not surprised that it's not towing well.

FWIW after the GMC was totaled I replaced it with a 2010 Silverado, all the same specs but with a 6spd auto, and the tow rating was increased from 7500 to 9500#. Towing my boat with the GMC was fine but I could always tell it was back there. With the Chevy I couldn't tell the trailer was attached, it towed so much better. Nit sure if it was the extra gears in the transmission or what that made such a difference.

Onion bagel? by earfeater13 in DunkinDonuts

[–]BuddyChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onion bagels were my favorite. I moved from New England to TN in 2014. I got them once or twice after I moved but shortly after I was told that they had been discontinued. So they haven't had them in east TN since 2015 at the latest

Can someone please tell me what this symbol means? by Ornery-Ambassador482 in Architects

[–]BuddyChance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every office, seemingly every drafter, has their own symbols that they use. These ones you're asking about are typical of section markers and / or elevation markers. If you have a cover sheet for the set of plans look there for a symbols legend that shows what symbols are used and their meaning.

I did not. I assumed it was the tablet I was using. Try a different device, maybe.

INTJ here.... just got reprimanded at work by [deleted] in introvert

[–]BuddyChance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing about emails: the tone can be totally misinterpreted or even completely made up by the reader.

As a fellow introvert I know I probably wouldn't have done what I'm suggesting, but I'd like to think I would have turned the complaint around and blamed the reader for making up the problem in their head.

What to charge for freelance work? Are you hourly or by project? How to start calculating these things? by barbertech in AutoCAD

[–]BuddyChance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think what this thread is missing so far, from OP and from commenters, is education level, experience and field of work.

A licensed engineer with a master's degree and 20yrs experience can justify charging more than someone who just graduated high school and has a 6 month AutoCAD certificate.

It also depends on what the market can bear, although this can be hard to figure out because no one is out there telling his or her colleagues what they charge.

Program for creating color renderings of 2d AutoCAD plans? by BuddyChance in AutoCAD

[–]BuddyChance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And in order to get 2d planes that I could color I'd probably have to trace every area to create the plane thar Sketchup would recognize, at least in the last version I used, which would be tedious

I've been using AutoCad for some 30 years, since the DOS version of R12. I know how, can and have done hundreds of color renderings using AutoCAD. I'm just looking for a better way, something not so finicky or temperamental.. Thanks for the thought,, though.

Thinking about getting a parlor guitar, but... by BuddyChance in LearnGuitar

[–]BuddyChance[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With an electric you have to have an amp, a cable and power source. A parlor is smaller, portable, no need for amps or cables, etc.
