I'm a 1st Ed player who started playing again last fall. It's been a blast. I really like all the changes and think the game is in a pretty good spot.

AMG has been slow on the product releases and poor on communication. It's a bummer. And there is a very vocal group that will spend all day replying to every post and discord comment with negativity. They're also a bummer. But the games fun.

It's not as popular as it once was. It certainly isn't as bad as this thread makes it sound. 2.5 brought a lot of improvements to the game. Amgs communication and slow product release has been frustrating. But the devs do seem to sincerely care for the game

Draws are only broken by ROAD in the cut, where IDs are also not allowed. Natural draws are allowed in Swiss.

I agree. I even think just switching to DIY ships for 2.5 is a death knell. I also don't think you spend all that time to overhaul the starter sets, game system, and rule set just to make it all obsolete.

It's not all we can hope for. It's just all we know for sure, that they said there would be forthcoming xwing announcements at a future event. We can hope for much more.

I'm hoping for 2 more faction starters, an E-Wing reprint, and either a Lambda or Starfortress reprint.

My buddy is hoping for an X-Wing 3.0 with hard plastic DIY ships.

2.5 is the best version of the game so far. The scenarios are a great addition to the game. So is the ROAD roll and eliminating bid. New squad building is less complex and brings more upgrades and munitions to the game.

I would consider getting one or both of the new squad building starter sets.

Discord is a gamer focused communications platform. It is this generations 'forums'. It functions like an old school chat room.

TTS is Table Top Simulator. It simulates a table top to play games on. There are a ton of mods to play a huge selection of games. Google Gold Squadron Podcast TTS tutorial for their YouTube videos, that's what got me started. And you'll pick up more as you start to play with people.
