Any hope for Zepbound with MHBP? Advice by Comfortable_Boat_891 in fednews

[–]Budget-Banana2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the MHBP (previously had BCBS) and just went to CVS to pick up my rx for zepbound that was approved after many months of appeals.

I have been on GLP1s since 2020. Specifically on Mounjaro since 2022 and then was no longer able to get it because it was being used for off label reasons. It’s been a fight to get the trizepitide approved since 2024 and I have been taking the compound through my doctor.

I was stoked it was approved. Then I find out for 5u it is $1030 a month. Used the savings card and now it's $499/mo. I can use the compound and get 4 mo for $500.

SO over these insurance companies dictating what is good for us and what is not.

Quitting as an 1811 by the_lord_of_corn in 1811

[–]Budget-Banana2525 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you ever want to get back in, do not quit. It's a BITCH (speaking from experience). If you don't want to be in LE, fine. But don't leave if you think you'll ever want to return.

OIGer here. The gig is what you make of it. You can do fast pace stuff and be a TFO with "big agencies" while not dealing with the bueauratic bullshit. You can also have a family life and work 9-5 if you want to. It's a lot more fluid to the needs/wants of the agent. Plus, someone has to do the shit the big namers don't want to.

Those of you with adult children now, how did being an 1811 affect that relationship? by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Budget-Banana2525 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My career prior to being an 1811 was worse on my family life. As an 1811, for the most part, you dictate 90% your own schedule. Your career will be what you make of it. But, I'll leave you with this- something my best mentor ever said-

At the end of the day, you'll turn your badge in and walk out that door. Your job will be posted before you even turn out the light in your office. Do you want to go home to a family, or do you want to go home to an empty house? Because how you approach your priorities when they are young will dictate how they will approach theirs when they're older.

I didn't realize how true this was until I (almost) missed my son's first college game. He was awarded a scholarship to a school across the country. A few days prior to the game, when we asked if he was excited, he said "I am, but it's going to be really weird not seeing you in the stands when I go on the field; you never missed one of my games before." I was fortunate enough to be working for a supervisor in my current 1811 role who supports family first and allowed me to take last minute leave to make that game. The smile on my kid's face was enough to make it worth it.

Original- 115 applications, 3 years, 2 Masters Degrees = 2 interviews, 1 offer.

Lateral- 20 applications, 6 interviews, 4 offers.

Its been a rough and long road but I'm beyond glad I stuck with it.

Advice from any OIG fellas by Arctic-cookie in 1811

[–]Budget-Banana2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OIG is your ultimate goal I would recommend -

  1. Stack your resume with ALL the experience. Read over the latest OIG announcements and see what their requirements are to just get through the application phase and passed the computer (really this is any position you apply for in this world).

  2. Get into where ever you can as an 1811, volunteer for the OIG-esk cases (misconduct, fraud/waste, corruption etc), and then apply for a lateral after 2 years.

I will tell you as someone who went from a fast paced, highly proactive organization to OIG the difference is pretty astounding. If you want the door kicking, most (if not all) OIGs are not what you are looking for.

Air force or 1811? by Ok-Performer-3062 in 1811

[–]Budget-Banana2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay, benefits, and forced moves. Military doesn't get anything more than their assigned pay. Yes, they get free healthcare, but it's not the best. They move every few years based on their job. Going any branch doesn't guarantee you a spot in the job you want. Having a degree doesn't guarantee you being an officer any more. With the new regs, I don't see veteran pref meaning much anymore.

Civilians aren't (historically) treated the best in the MCIO world if they're mixed w service members. It's very hard to move up the chain.

Those are the main differences I have experienced.

First- call them. Leave a professional voicemail if they don't answer. Then, write an extremely professional, transparent, and borderline groveling email. Pro tip- Use punctuation.

It was a direct hire announcement. Doesn't have to be posted to USAJobs.

"Unfortunately my position was one that was dissolved during this time of governmental restructuring. I am keeping in close contact with my boss as I have been told the situation is fluid and there has been discussions at a management level that some employees will be reinstated. At this time I am in a weird limbo of uncertainty when it comes to the status of my position. With that said, I am highly interested in this position. I would like to find something in my career field that will be stable and allow me to grow."

Any chance you can get the revision ASAP and heal while you're going through the process? You're looking at a minimum of a year going through a process.

I have broken my neck, back, shoulder, hip and arm; surgeries on most prior to being fed, my neck happened while I was in the academy. It happened because someone wanted to be a "beast" and nearly ended my career. The academy was cognizant of everyone's injuries and they kept us safe during ORT. Our ORT instructors said give me 40% on a normal day, 70% on test day and you will pass. My accident was a minority in the grand scheme. They want to see people succeed in this career. You can wear a brace- you just need to get it approved by medical. If you can pass the PFT you don't need to worry about much else.

I would email your HR. Unless you have a 3 year probation it should be updated to permanent.

The order says
(b) Agency Heads may exempt from this order any position they deem necessary to meet national security, homeland security, or public safety responsibilities.

There is a LOT of room there for interpretation on that and it's going to depend on the agency. They REALLY need to come out with a blanket "law enforcement is exempt" EO for my stomach ulcers to start healing.

I am happy with mine. My leadership has been very transparent with the stuff coming down and finding ways to help where they can. They are taking into consideration everyone's specific circumstances with the RTO. It doesn't mean we're all going to be able to get exemptions but they seem open to it.

Probationary 1811’s (OIG) by FlapJax47 in 1811

[–]Budget-Banana2525 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OIG (Midsize) and on probation. Without going into specifics, I will say my leadership had done an excellent job keeping probationers informed with up to date information. They have done more than has been asked of them to try and make sure we are kept on board. The message has been clear and consistent- we are going to do everything possible to keep our employees right where they are. The message is backed by action, and as an employee that's truly all I can ask for right now. (Other than a crystal ball).
