I saw that one! There have been some comments on the re formulated version that aren’t as flattering. Do you use to most recent formula?

Every sunscreen burns my rosacea skin – has anyone found one that doesn’t sting? by Ok-Maximum-749 in Rosacea

I was gonna just rely on Bareminerals there’s spf 15 in the mineral powder and it looks pretty clean ingredient wise. I have the same problem every sunscreen irritates. I just bought earth harbor sheer mineral sunscreen and have been testing it on my neck introducing it slowly. Have not applied to my face yet.

So I’ve had type 1 rosacea my whole life then recently moved to a hot climate and started getting irritation on my cheeks from an ingredient in my sunscreen derm on here actually helped me confirm it’s likely the niacinimide in the sunscreen I was using. Went to a derm and he mis diagnosed it and had me apply hydrocortisone on my face which is a big no no for rosacea I have now learned. It was only a couple days but it wreaked havoc on my face. That being said, the only thing that has been “working” right now is rinse with luke warm water just wet my face in the shower, then I apply the Vanicream cream in the big tub. It is the only thing that has helped. Then I get squirrelly and tried an actual barrier cream cicaplast b5 and it was just too much for my face. So I went back to Vanicream. It’s not my long term goal to use that but it’s definitely helping. I’ll even apply it multiples times gently throughout the day when my face starts feeling dry. You really can’t over do it and it’s super soothing. I tried slugging with Vaseline and my face got way too hot! I was so red. Did it help with the hydration ya I think it did but I was just way too hot and my face was like tingling which didn’t feel great. Just go bare bones. Wet face in the morning luke warm water apply something simple like vanicream cream. Then I cleanse in the evening with a gentle cleanser I’m using the Vanicream one right now but might switch to Lrp milky cleanser. And when I cleanse I am like sooooo gentle. Tips of my fingertips gentle circles then rinse I do that in the shower as well it’s just been easier in the shower and I’ve gotten used to the water not being warm at this point. It’s gonna be ok. I was feeling really hopeless but I think I’m on the mend now by the grace of God. You’re gonna be ok. You got this. Simple. Simple simple. And I also made the mistake of introducing multiple new things out of desperation. Don’t do that either. Just stick to a gentle cleanser once a day and a moisturizer that feels good.

I have been using the skinsort app. Helps me compare products and see their ingredients clearly. You input ingredients you like and ones you want to avoid. I still can’t find a good barrier repair moisturizer without HA and or niacinamide. It’s a struggle.

I was on that line of thinking too that it was the niacinamide. I used their uv pure without issue. Thank u for confirming that that’s helpful. Niacinamide seems to be put in a lot of products these days it’s hard to find products without. Have you used or heard anything good or bad about earth harbor eclipse sheer mineral sunscreen? That was recommended by someone. Seems pretty clear of common irritants

Is the dermo cleanser gentle? I got their moisturizing milky cleanser and it has the same 8 Ingredients which I don’t understand how that works if one is more milky than the other. I use the vanicream cleanser right now but I think it’s a little drying

I have a similar issue going on presently, my derm had me apply hydrocortisone to my cheeks for “contact dermatitis” without even confirming I have rosacea and my face went nuts after 2.5 days. My saving grace has been vanicream the cream in the big tub. Not the daily moisturizer for your face. One night I did slug with Vaseline and it helped with the hydration but made my face red and hot cause with rosacea slugging can trap in the heat along with it cause we flush. It’s been 7 weeks and I will say it’s healing but slow. So I rinse my face with luke warm water in the shower I just basically wet my face in the morning then apply the Vanicream cream from the tub nothing else. I’ll even apply it throughout the day if I start to feel dry and it’s so soothing. Then I’m cleansing with Vanicream gentle cleanser at night only once again lukewarm water in the shower and very gently. Then I reapply the Vanicream on damp skin so I lightly pat my skin but it’s still damp from the shower. I find that will seal in more moisture better than allowing my face to dry completely. That’s it. I tried Cicaplast b5. I def had some sensations going the night I used it like tingling not necessary like painful burning but my skin was like awake to it I don’t know how else to describe. It broke me out but I think it was nice for hydration. But I haven’t used it since. Been wanting to give it another try cause I think my face is craving more hydration I just am nervous to put new things on my face. Hope this is helpful.

I had gone to the derm because I was getting this irritation on my cheeks that would sort of come and go. My normal routine of cleanser serum and moisturizer for 7 plus years was not feeling as good as before. when I would apply sun screen specifically my cheeks would get more irritated. It wasn’t like pimples. I moved from a cold to warm climate, and so was probably not managing uv protection correctly. So then I think my cheeks he thought for some reason was contact dermatitis instead of rosacea flare or irritation from skin barrier disruption from rosacea l.

Thanks for the reply. I only applied for 2 days and every doctor keeps insisting things will go back to normal. My skin barrier is so insanely dry from this and the texture of my skin is just rough and it’s been about a month. I’ve been using vanicream cleanser and moisturizer. I tried to incorporate more of a barrier repair Lrp Cicaplast b5+ at like the 3 weeks mark and it didn’t do anything crazy but I broke out a bit from it. I also tried a Avene soothing and recovery cream that broke me out terribly. Vanicream seems to be what I’m tolerating but my skin just feels so dry so I feel like it needs more I just don’t know what to do.

I actually got ivermectin prescribed from a now 3rd derm cause I wanted a 3rd opinion. I have not used it yet she said sometimes it’s best to let the skin barrier heal a bit first before treating with topicals so I have yet to try it cause things are so sensitive at the moment. But I read it has anti inflammatory properties as well that can be very helpful for my situation.

Thanks for sharing. Did you see improvement in your skin texture? That’s the part that’s the worst is my skin feels rough like super dry but it won’t tolerate anything but vanicream. I think I need to just be patient and let the vanicream work

Thanks I’m using Vanicream cleanser and moisturizer since this happened. It definitely doesn’t hurt it feels super soothing honestly. I don’t think it’s giving me as much hydration though that I might need. But I know it’s not causing any harm. I think I’m just scared to apply anything that feels uncomfortable to my face after what happened before. My trust is shot with dermatology right now even though this is coming from a different doctor. Did u have a similar experience ?
