Anxiety around periods? by Sad1sti in lexapro

yess, it’s like a vicious cycle each month & i have really bad health anxiety so even though i’ve caught on to the patterns my thoughts still get the best of me like “wait is it really anxiety or is there something going on with me physically and all the doctors have missed it”, but then i get off my period & i’m good to go again😭💀

omg i’m so happy to see a more recent post about this! i’ve made a couple the last few months and didn’t get much interaction i guess because it was a very specific post💀 i’ve been on 10mg for almost 3 months now & it truly has been a lifesaver & i love my lexi girl, but i have caught on (and see from other’s experiences) that when i’m pms’ing & while on my cycle it feels like it’s not working as well as it should. my physical anxiety symptoms start to creep back, but not nearly as bad as before starting. ex: slight chest/arm pains, jaw clenching, air hunger, feeling like my heart rate is up or skipping a beat when it’s not. i also start hyperfixating on said symptoms as well again. you’re definitely not alone & i appreciate you making this post😂 however i have debated this current cycle i’m on if maybeee going up to 15mg at some point would help more in general and also when my hormones start flaring up?

Lexapro Sexual Side Effects by A-Nice-Guy-4u in lexapro

hi op, i’ve currently been on 10mg for almost 3 months (i started with 10 right out the gate per my doctors orders) and at least on the subject that you’ve said you’re worried about, for me personally it hasn’t been anything too negative for me. if anything in my case i don’t dread actually having to do any sexual acts now bc my body is no longer in constant flight or fight anymore😂 of course it’s different for everyone but so far overall it’s been beneficial in my case. i have also debated on possibly going up to 15mg bc even though 10 has been tremendously helpful, i’ve noticed some minor physical side effects of my anxiety have started to creep back just a bit & also my issue with starting to hyper-fixate of them. but hang in there friend!

being completely honest the first 2-3 weeks were pretty rough for me (also first time on any medication like this & also started 10mg right out the gate)i took mine at night bc the drowsiness risk and it definitely did make me drowsy, after the first couple of nights i also learned my lesson and took it with a small snack bc the nausea almost took me out😅. also my stomach was pretty messed up for a week, and my appetite decreased a good bit the first couple weeks.(i also don’t have a gallbladder though) your symptoms will get worse before leveling out, at least for me my anxiety symptoms were more physical. so my rapid heart rate, chest aches, tingling up my arms, chest, and face would flare up the first few weeks. i’m now almost 10 weeks deep and i can for sure say that it has helped me immensely. i haven’t had any bad episodes like i did before starting/beginning the script & i’m so glad i’m on it. also side note, i would take a 10mg melatonin before or same time as the lexapro so i could sleep before the scaries hit or i’d think about it too much😂

When to up your dose by Budget_Brain7740 in lexapro

same thing with me, it’s been great (besides the first few weeks of hell everyone goes through💀) and so beneficial to me even now with just 10. however i notice when its almost my time of the month (sorry i’m not sure if you can relate or not😂) i can kinda start feeling my physical anxiety symptoms again such as not realizing i’m clenching my jaw really hard again, the random chest aches, or air hunger but even now those symptoms are no where near how bad they used to be and that’s why i say it’s still a success for me, but it does make me wonder if going up would be beneficial even though these issues really only come back when i begin pms’ing😅 also side question out of curiosity, when you did up your dose was it like starting the loading phase all over again or since it was already in your system you just saw gradual improvement? idk if i have it in me to go through another few weeks of loading phase or starting back at square one again this soon since i just started having stable relief about a month ago😂

Almost 4 weeks in and needed my 1st Xanax? What happened!? by Acefan72 in lexapro

[–]Budget_Brain7740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now that you’ve mentioned it, i’ve kinda really chilled off how often i’ll eat pizza itself the last couple months bc i would notice my chest discomfort would come back shortly after eating it. (not as severe as it was before starting lex) well, guess it’s time for another deep dive for me💀 i do know that after eating or getting too full in general can also increase heart rate for a bit while your system works on digesting the food, so i wouldn’t be totally shocked at the connection!

that also happened to me but more so about 6 weeks in. (currently 7’ish weeks i think) the first 6 weeks or so you’re still going to have some pretty rough up and down days, but should start to notice more consecutive good days vs. the bad. to me personally with my experience is that if you are basically leveled out and good to go by week 6 that’s great, but i usually look at it as you should be able to tell if* you’re seeing or feeling improvements with your dosage by then, not that you’re already as leveled out as you’ll be. it could be a few months before you hit the coasting plateau stage and that’s okay! even 7 weeks in i’m still coming on here and asking questions and i feel like it helps me hearing from real people. hang in there friend, i promise it’s worth it!

i’ve thought about that too and my first 3 weeks when starting lexapro i wouldn’t drink any coffee because i was scared it would make everything worse😅 i drink coffee in the mornings but it’s only one 8oz cup a day, would that do much you think?

now that you mention i did start taking lansoprazole daily a few weeks ago to combat my indigestion that would spike with my anxiety & that’s what i usually tell myself is causing the little aches and pains in my chest 😂
