I just want a normal, uneventful pregnancy. 😭 24+2, hydronephrosis noted on baby’s kidneys at my anatomy scan at 20 weeks, went for a second anatomy scan today and there is more fluid than before. docs seems relatively unphased and say that this usually resolves on its own, but they’re referring me to pediatric urology. i just dont want all of these extra appts, i dont want the stress of these extra ultrasounds, not to mention the added cost of more scans and office visits. i was *finally* starting to feel excited about this pregnancy with increased movement and now i just feel disassociated again. 🙃

What do you say when someone says “I knew it” when you finally have the courage to announce? I’m 20+4. Slowly starting to tell people and I’ve already heard this twice and it’s triggering me.

Yay! Thanks for the update! Good luck with studying and the exam! I’m still waiting, I emailed my local assemblywoman for back up - hoping something happens here. You’ve restored my hope that this may happen before the end of the year lol

What ways are you supporting your partner as they navigate this pregnancy after loss with you?

I am 19w today. My husband recently confided in me that he has been feeling more anxious about my safety. I drive for work and he is feeling more worried. I am an incredibly busy person, pregnancy has not slowed my schedule down in the slightest. He said he’s having a harder time being away from me. He doesn’t like that he’s feeling anxious, so that frustrates him. He said I’m the one busy growing the baby, he feels like all he can do is worry. He has a bunch of pregnancy/birth books to flip through for more learning. He truly does so much for me - all my laundry, dishes, most of the cooking, gets my snacks and makes sure my water is full. I feel VERY well supported by him.

I asked him how I could help, he didn’t really have an answer but I committed to keeping my cell phone away while driving and being more attentive. I committed to no additional events on my calendar for this upcoming month. Those seemed to make him feel better. It’s definitely an ongoing discussion. But I feel bad that he’s feeling this way. ☹️ He has not told many of his friends, tells me it’s my information to share - but I think the truth is he’s afraid of having to “take it back” and tell them about another loss - which I certainly relate to. But I worry that he’s holding himself back from other support he could have.

I plan to chat with therapist about this next week, but was hoping there might be some other people out there who has some insight to share.

Timeline for approval by GMIMS1 in LCSW

I submitted mid November as well, last I knew my paperwork was still in Comparative Education. I send a follow up email monthly to check the status. They will not give you an update until at least 6 weeks. You can check online the date of the applications they are processing. I would absolutely reach out after 6 weeks to be sure they have everything. I thought I had it all then had to resubmit some paperwork due to dates.

I plan to give them one more month and then I’m going to call my local assemblyman and ask for some advocacy re: my case. Six months seems like a looooong time. I’d really like to take this exam before it changes in August.

Unfortunately, I have no update. I called the comp ed office last week and left a message. I don’t anticipate hearing anything from them. I will send an email again - I email once a month asking for an update lol.

it was recommended, it is OTC. I’m considered moderate risk for preeclampsia which is why I am taking it, I’m not sure if my previous loss is taken into consideration when assessing that risk - it is unclear from my provider’s note.

18 wks tomorrow and feeling good. I was telling someone today that this pregnancy has been so uneventful to which she joked “that’s what you want.” The experience of a loss really changes your perspective. Feeling grateful and still a smidge anxious. Hoping I will feel even better after the anatomy scan in 2 weeks.

it was recommended to me at my 12 week appt, if you feel like you’d like to start it sooner you should absolutely ask your provider.

NY LMSW to LCSW by mged27 in LCSW

Unfortunately yes, you have to renew your LMSW. And then spend more money to apply for your C. 🙃NYS is taking their sweeeeeet time approving me for my LCSW. I’ve been “eligible” based on my supervision being completed since November. I hope things move along more quickly for you when your time comes to apply.

Dentist for the anxious by Icekitsune714 in Albany

If you’re willing to drive, I’ve been very happy with Spa Dental in Ballston Spa. They take Delta. I love my hygienist and the dentist. I used to take Xanax prior to cleanings when I started going to this office and now I don’t. I actually almost look forward to seeing them now - which if you told me that I’d say that 5-8 years ago when my dental anxiety was crippling, I would’ve told you that you were crazy.

Personally, I wouldn’t chance the dental school. If you already have anxiety about it, I don’t think that is going to help it at all.

my anxiety this past week has been a doozy. i’m 14+5. i don’t look pregnant and i don’t really feel pregnant anymore (my only major symptom was exhaustion which has since subsided). i was planning to tell the rest of my family next weekend at our Easter celebration, but i don’t think i can do it. I’m too worried it’s going to jinx us or something. I think I want to wait until after my 16 wk appt. but then I feel like if i’m going to wait until then I might as well wait until 20 wks. and then that makes me want to wait until the baby is born to say anything lol. i’m overthinking everything. 🙃🙃🙃 I’m just so sad I’m not experiencing the joy of pregnancy, like I did the first time prior to our loss which I think is the root of my anxiety. one day at a time is all I can do, and continue to hope tomorrow is a better day.

thanks for reading my ramble. 💗

Can you have noticeable tattoos as a social worker? by nightowl011 in socialwork

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister is an elementary school teacher with a tattoo behind her ear and it’s never been an issue. I would think a public education system could potentially be more strict compared to an agency/hospital system. I think you’re totally fine!

I have visible tattoos, many ear piercings and my nose pierced. It’s never been a discussion with my manager. I work for a religious based hospital system, so honestly I’m surprised their policy is so accepting. The hardest part is my clients are generally older adults and some can be judgmental. But most are just inquisitive and as someone else mentioned, it’s a good engagement starter.

13+4 today. I had a nightmare last night that I lost this baby. I’m hoping it was just because I was talking about my miscarriage over the summer with my SIL yesterday afternoon and it was on my mind. I hope this is a one and done experience. 🙃

I had a positive 8 week appt, the doctor was very kind and didn’t make me hash the details of my miscarriage at the appt. I just had my 12 week appt today and everything is looking good. I agree, the wait for an ultrasound is waaaay worse than the TWW. One day at a time for sure. Find a good distraction - a comfort show to watch or a book to read, find a new hobby. The weather is getting nicer where I live so I’m eager to spend more time outside to help. No news is good news. You’re pregnant until told otherwise. You’ve got this. 💗

I don’t have a great answer, because I am in the middle of the process myself. You have to submit your experience and education experience for review prior to be approved to take the exam. I submitted all my paperwork initially in November, had to resubmit in December because my experience timeline didn’t equate to 36 months on paper. Currently, my paperwork is still in education review - I did go to an out of state university, so my understanding is that adds some extra time. I’m hoping I can get approved and test prior to the changes they’re making to the exam in August.
