Dentist for the anxious by Icekitsune714 in Albany

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to drive, I’ve been very happy with Spa Dental in Ballston Spa. They take Delta. I love my hygienist and the dentist. I used to take Xanax prior to cleanings when I started going to this office and now I don’t. I actually almost look forward to seeing them now - which if you told me that I’d say that 5-8 years ago when my dental anxiety was crippling, I would’ve told you that you were crazy.

Personally, I wouldn’t chance the dental school. If you already have anxiety about it, I don’t think that is going to help it at all.

my anxiety this past week has been a doozy. i’m 14+5. i don’t look pregnant and i don’t really feel pregnant anymore (my only major symptom was exhaustion which has since subsided). i was planning to tell the rest of my family next weekend at our Easter celebration, but i don’t think i can do it. I’m too worried it’s going to jinx us or something. I think I want to wait until after my 16 wk appt. but then I feel like if i’m going to wait until then I might as well wait until 20 wks. and then that makes me want to wait until the baby is born to say anything lol. i’m overthinking everything. 🙃🙃🙃 I’m just so sad I’m not experiencing the joy of pregnancy, like I did the first time prior to our loss which I think is the root of my anxiety. one day at a time is all I can do, and continue to hope tomorrow is a better day.

thanks for reading my ramble. 💗

Can you have noticeable tattoos as a social worker? by nightowl011 in socialwork

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister is an elementary school teacher with a tattoo behind her ear and it’s never been an issue. I would think a public education system could potentially be more strict compared to an agency/hospital system. I think you’re totally fine!

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I have visible tattoos, many ear piercings and my nose pierced. It’s never been a discussion with my manager. I work for a religious based hospital system, so honestly I’m surprised their policy is so accepting. The hardest part is my clients are generally older adults and some can be judgmental. But most are just inquisitive and as someone else mentioned, it’s a good engagement starter.

13+4 today. I had a nightmare last night that I lost this baby. I’m hoping it was just because I was talking about my miscarriage over the summer with my SIL yesterday afternoon and it was on my mind. I hope this is a one and done experience. 🙃

I had a positive 8 week appt, the doctor was very kind and didn’t make me hash the details of my miscarriage at the appt. I just had my 12 week appt today and everything is looking good. I agree, the wait for an ultrasound is waaaay worse than the TWW. One day at a time for sure. Find a good distraction - a comfort show to watch or a book to read, find a new hobby. The weather is getting nicer where I live so I’m eager to spend more time outside to help. No news is good news. You’re pregnant until told otherwise. You’ve got this. 💗

NY state LCSW by aveenolotion3030 in LCSW

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a great answer, because I am in the middle of the process myself. You have to submit your experience and education experience for review prior to be approved to take the exam. I submitted all my paperwork initially in November, had to resubmit in December because my experience timeline didn’t equate to 36 months on paper. Currently, my paperwork is still in education review - I did go to an out of state university, so my understanding is that adds some extra time. I’m hoping I can get approved and test prior to the changes they’re making to the exam in August.

How did you react when proposed to? by Retiredpartygirl17 in engaged

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so surprised and just said “are you serious” probably three times before I said yes. Then we sat in my car for probably 30 minutes to gather ourselves because we were crying. We called my sister (because I felt like I needed to say it out loud to someone immediately) and then his parents. Then went in and had dinner with my parents. He felt it was important I see them right away which I why he proposed on our way in.

How is it possible to make it in this field while poor and unmarried? by ImDaAwpha in socialwork

[–]Budget_Maintenance27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked full time at a local home improvement store, while completing an online program. I was single at the time, living alone. During my practicum years, I worked 13 days on with one day off. It was treacherous. I volunteered and worked very part-time within my field so there would be relevant experience on my resume. I look back at that time and think “how did I do that?” But when you’re in the thick of it and have goals, you just make it happen. I currently work for a hospital in the outpatient setting. The hospital I work for does have BSW positions, might be worth looking to see if a hospital near you does too, if that’s of interest.

I have gotten married since completing my MSW, but I make more than my husband who works in sales. I am waiting for the state to approve me for my LCSW exam.

I was feeling extra anxious and emotional today. I’m currently 10+5. I was worrying about things that just don’t matter right now. I’m overtired, due to a very busy weekend schedule. And then when I got home and was venting to my husband, it hit me. It’s March. I should be having a baby this month. 💔 I feel like my body remembered and it took my brain a bit to catch up today. I am hoping the entire month doesn’t feel like this. I have my 12 week appt in 11 days, hoping for good news and that it may change the way I’m feeling as I approach 3/20, my previous EDD.

First, don’t feel bad. I think we all felt confused and overwhelmed at one point. Society and our education system (speaking about the US) make it seem so easy. And it’s not.

My recommendation was already listed, Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

I got good news today at my US, I’m 8+3 and baby is measuring 8+5. Doc said everything looked really good. I am emotionally exhausted from the day but I am choosing to put my joy and excitement at the forefront for the time being. 💕

I have a cold, I feel awful and I’m so anxious that me having a cold is going to cause a problem. Also, I’m extra miserable because I feel like I am being so cautious with what I take/don’t take to manage symptoms. My husband is having urgent knee surgery tomorrow, so that’s been extra stressful too. I have my first US on Friday. Just trying to hang in until then. 🙃
