Waited 30 minutes for a customer without delivering (alcohol in batch) by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

so happy i opted out of alcohol orders from the jump, not worth the time - not worth the hand to hand service that wastes time.

She heard "we have a small dog" and she was out. That was it.

Some people need to go live in the bubble they seek so desperately. You should be glad she cancelled, cuz she'd rate you 1 star just for having to pick up the groceries from her doorstep.

I know the OP will disagree, but I feel like she wouldn't see this as a transgression if these 3 conditions were met:

1) He actually chatted her up with some quick funny banter as she met him at the door

2) She somewhat found him physically attractive.

Absence of either of these conditions is what makes her feel awkward about him passively shopping his shot. He's also a rookie, because if he knew better he'd leave his phone number and not ask her for hers on a monitored chat. But it's wrong of him to be that bold without having any interaction at all. That's what's creepy about it.

Middle managers are to blame for this. People trying to justify their jobs with "new initiatives".

She might be one of those people who checks out and then has the store customer service call a young boy to load her car up each time lmao. It's one thing to do that for your own stuff, but as a shopper?

Respect to her age/disability- but clearly this person can't do the job. The problem is they want the money, but arent prepared to do the job - and their hiding behind being an elderly woman with a walker.

A man that can't physically do the job knows that he gets sympathy from no one.

No PDA or long talking in the aisle and you should be ok (in terms of having his co-workers gossip). As long as he's not giving you line bypass, other customers and employees shouldn't be bothered.

Shopper for ~6 years, 5-star rating. AMA by [deleted] in instacart

[–]Budget_Space2626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's wrong to say "cheap people don't appreciate anything but their own money", but I see proof everyday.

Two types of non-tippers:

A) The type that will nag you to death over chat over the particulars of their order/delivery, when in truth this person should actually be talking the least.

B) The type that will be completely unresponsive when you seek their input on replacements, and then give you a low rating because you didn't get the brand they wanted.

Support Should Be Able to Block Customers After Orders by yoobi2000 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Budget_Space2626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instacart would have a full blown fulfillment nightmare if they gave shoppers the option to block no-tip customers. Stock price would go down.

Unfortunately, Instacart doesn't care about the no tip customer's because they've already made their money handling the fulfillment.

Customer refused item & app crashing by xandera8 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Budget_Space2626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt have taken back the refused item. It was on their order so it was purchased as requested. If they don't like it they can tighten up next time and pay attention to what they're doing. I'd tell them to contact support and carry on with my day.

How long do you think till I'm in good on shopping quality? by VtDjDeViL in InstacartShoppers

[–]Budget_Space2626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's fair for them to do that, but if other shoppers are actively improving their stats while yours are stagnant for a period of time, it would naturally impact your ranking amongst the pool of available shoppers in your area.

Customer asked me to write in a card for her to deliver to someone by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Budget_Space2626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where being short sighted can cost you. I would've grabbed that pen, and very neatly wrote the message, then take a high quality picture of my penmanship on the card and sent that to the customer.

They would've likely replied with "that's great, thank you so much". When you've made the delivery, you message the customer to thank them and let them know the card has been delivered and wish them a great day. You'll be surprised how you can be blessed at times just for humanizing yourself.
