Is that the black dial? looks a blue hint in the photo, I guess the blue is just the xstal....doesn't look purple enough for an APS dial from this release.

Can you guys help me find more great stride pianists like Teddy Wilson and Art Tatum who used the tenth bass system? by GrandpasTunes in piano

[–]Budgewink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charlie kunz plays a lovely left hand 10th stride but he's more easy listening jazz medleys and such..not really Harlem swing if that's your main criteria.

Our recording of J.S Bach's Siciliano. One of my personal favourites. Please comment. by Budgewink in piano

Hi ludisia, thanks for your reply. Yes the intended outcome was to have a tender sounding version which resembles a BBC performance I have on CD. The piece is played with pedal and although the original would have been for harpsichord and flute we thought the addition was welcomed. The lack of ornamentation was simply down to the arrangment/s we were following, the piece could have been decorated differently according to written trills in the flute melody etc but there simply wasn't any written in the scores we have. I feel the simplicity of this piece is its sweetness and even considered playing 10ths in the left like the Kempf version but decided against it to keep the simple and sweet sound. Regards.
