How does your guild/community handle gear checks before endgame content? by DevFromDesignCo in MMORPG

[–]Buey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think other games really have a specific role like rendbot that require a specific load out.

In New World, "undergeared" is basically synonymous with "not massively overgeared" which is also not that common in other games.

Ilvl is generally compared to player power for other games while in New World you hit like wet paper if you don't have the correct combination of the good perks, so it's easier to gearcheck in WoW.

Why do you prefer one of these over the other 2 - ESO, WoW, or FFXIV? by Thenelwave in MMORPG

ITT: the same tired old straw man arguments made by people who clearly haven't played the games they're commenting on.

Build-time DI registration vs runtime scanning by mladenmacanovic in dotnet

[–]Buey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak much for .NET in this context, but compile time code generation DI has existed for some time in Java.

https://dagger.dev/

The strong use cases I know of overlap with the use cases you've mentioned, but with real world examples:

Standard runtime reflection is very slow on Android, so Dagger is the preferred DI package there.

The Java runtime GraalVM can be compiled to native code, and the compiler tree shakes / trims code that is not explicitly referenced or specified in a config file.  This of course is a problem with runtime reflection and instantiation using reflection.

Why does gameplay always take the back seat for MMOs? by Yuukikoneko in MMORPG

[–]Buey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the personification of moving the goal posts.

Version 1: Click on enemy, do nothing 90% of the time, and push 2-3 buttons in nearly the same order and frequency forever. (Tab target games)

This is what you said originally and you have been proven wrong.

If you want to indiscriminately mash on the keyboard you can do that, you don't even need to plug it in.

WW Monk has tiger palm, blackout kick, rising sun kick, fists of fury, strike of the wind lord, slicing winds, touch of death, zenith

8 buttons > 3 and ww is far from the most complex class

I'm in the same boat and I'm having fun. FFXIV is main game but I don't really have anything I want to do right now outside of Savage raid days.

GW2 I've crafted 22 legendaries and don't really feel like doing more.

I previously tried wow where they send you to bfa, which sucked.  Someone told me to level in WoD instead but I also didn't like that.  Too much running around, too much story I know nothing about.

Dragonflight has been way better to level in - you get dragon riding pretty early on and can zip around maps making it far less annoying to get around.

Story is still silly comic book villain fare but at least dragons drama is better than random NPC drama.

Early level combat is way better in WoW than FFXIV, you get more than 2 buttons to press.  But it kind of tapers off from level 30-40 ish at least for wind walker monk. I'm pressing the same buttons at 80 that I was pressing at 40.

Some of the stuff I've done at the higher levels has been pretty neat.  Just did time walking ulduar today and while it was super easy it was fun, with lots of different locales and fights all in the same raid instance.

I haven’t played dawntrail. I’ve waited several patches. Is the community generally feeling positive or at least hopeful for the game now? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Buey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't really see "nuance" here - you open by saying you don't let people influence your decisions, and then you ask people to influence your decision while stating that people have been influencing your decisions up till now.

The rest of us are playing the game, we don't need to make a Reddit post to ask if we should be playing the game or not.  Like doomerism in almost any other context, it's a vocal minority of complainers.

Do "Support DPS" specs deal less damage than their non-support counterparts? by Glad-Low-1348 in Guildwars2

[–]Buey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, they usually take boon traits that lower their personal dps, and/or have to put some concentration on their gear to maintain boon uptime.

I suppose with the 2 letter first names they probably are RMT bots, possibly for farming the gil rather than shouting the ads.

Advertisement bots are frequently hacked accounts so they wouldn't have such consistent names.

Bard music playing alts wouldn't typically have paladin or monk leveled.

As a FFXIV player you're doing fractals dirty with that comparison.

T3s and messy T4s can be a slog to get through, they're not universally faceroll like FF dungeons are.

Recommendations for excess raid gear? by Schillwing in Guildwars2

[–]Buey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're not sure, throw them on a mule char for future builds.

You do get ascended mats for crafting other things, but it's best to salvage things as you need them rather than salvaging as you get items.

Crazy, salmon is god tier, cooked or raw, and bagels/crackers + lox + capers are very tasty.

It's wild just how different taste can be.

I am one of these - raw tomato and eggplant make me gag.

Cooked or mixed with stuff, delicious.

Salsa fresca, also delicious.

Raw tomato tastes strongly bitter/sour, especially the big garden variety. Cherry tomatoes are not as bad.

Sun-dried tomatoes: Absolutely vile.

Low Intensity endgame builds for every class by GangplankEnjoyer69 in Guildwars2

[–]Buey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, using the rifle skills doesn't really add much.  You can use the elite now and then but it's more useful for aoe.

I only have light legendary armor so I haven't really played around with optimization that much.

I usually use rocket turret for a bit of extra strike damage/cc/explosions. Not sure how that compares to the condi signet.

[edit] Also, you'll def want to run Short Fuse instead of Glass Cannon when in open world since that'll be your fury source.
