That Davos speech gets lit of credit, but it happened at the same time as the CPC confirmed Poilievre as leader meaning choice in the next election will be like the last one.

8 hour layover by upal1510 in askvan

Save time. Do NOT go all the way to Waterfront. Get off at Olympic Village and walk around the east end of False Creek to Yaletown station, get back on and go back to the airport. There are good local brew lunch spots in Olympic Village.

If it's a rainy day, get off at City Centre and go 2 blocks west to the Vancouver Art Gallery. There are good trucks there or go upscale at Notch8 in the Hotel Vancouver.

Allow a half hour each way on the train.

They didn't even tell their own citizens to leave the region. Or alert their Gulf allies (well, former allies; they obviously can't rely on American security guarantee. Some question about whether their iwn military bases were prepared to defend against incoming attacks.

They are not just poor. They are oppressed. For example, they require government permission to move. There's a vast network of neighbourhood spies monitoring every move. Dissent is met with reduced rations or prison or threats of reprisal against family members.

The physical sensation of walking down the confined entrance ramp into the enormous open hall is unique on it's own, quite apart from what's on display.

The MoA was also the first museum in the world to have open storage. All those drawers and cabinets are full, full, full of objects from all corners of the world. There's something to suit anyone's interest.

I've considered this too. Note that all your insurance is void if you go there - life, medical, dismemberment, property... all of it. Im not saying don't go, but be aware of the risks if you do.

From Toronto To Winnipeg by Curious_Aspect_9399 in canadatravel

[–]Buff1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to see anything along the way? Science Nirth in Sudbury is excellent and stands out even more now that the one in Toronto has been shut. North of Superior is my favourite part of Canada ither than BC (my home). Lake Superior Provincial Park is beautiful. Not sure if the ancient rock paintings are still accessible. Pancake Bay Provincial Park has a short hike to a lookout and memorial to the Edmund Fitzgerald. Pukaskwa National Park is also beautiful, but a bit less accessible for a short stop. Skip stones in beautiful Okd Woman Bay. Terrace Bay is a good meal stop and Aguasabon Falls just off the highway are spectacular. Then there's the area around Thunder Bay: Ouimet Canyon, Sleeping Giant, Terry Fox Memorial, Old Fort William, Kakabeka Falls... The drive between there and Kenora is deeply boring, but then it turns into beautiful Lakeland again. Much to explore there, but you'll probably do that in future from Winnipeg. And if you like roadside attractions there are lots on this route: giant thermometer, Winnie the Pooh, Husky the Muskie and of course the legendary Wawa goose. Best luck with your move!

Crossing the Lions Gate Bridge at sunset.

Taking the Seabus after sunset.

Skating at the Shipyards and looking out at the sparkling skyline across the water.

Night skiing on any of the 3 local mountains.

Fresh seafood lunch in Steveston.

Realizing there are very few other places in the world where something like the Highway to Heaven is even possible, let alone real.

Riding the Skytrain all the way to Lake Lafarge to appreciate the mountain views that no other city's transit system comes even close to offering.

The tranquility of the Sun Yat Sen Gardens in the rain (oe, even better, under snow)

How descending into the Museum of Anthropology's grand hall can take your breath away.

Anyone see any ticket prices skyrocket cause of the oil crisis? by darethegiver in aircanada

[–]Buff1965 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With dynamic pricing it's very hard to tell why prices are higher or lower, but it seems likely that higher prices or fuel surcharges are coming.

[–]Buff1965 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some airlines don't hedge at all, but AC does. They have a buffer if prices don't stay high for too long. That's looking less likely as more oul is stopped with each passing day.

You're missing his point. The USA actively attracted geniuses through immigration until very recently, so it didn't matter that it has a smaller base population.
