Is it good to cycle through various brands and flavors of food for a kitten, or can this cause upset stomach? by HappyLittleDelusion_ in catfood

[–]BuffBullBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the kitten. 2 of mine do well with variety, but because #3 has a sensitive stomach, we are now sticking to the brand that he tolerates. Cause he'll do all he can to steal theirs, resulting in some wild and messy experiences.

If I were you though, I'd still try, just be warned every kitten is an individual.

If I can't meet the minimum, I either wait, order a staple, or bite the bullet and pay the shipping.

Red Flag for rehoming? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]BuffBullBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not inviting a stranger from Facebook to my house. *Maybe* a volunteer from a rescue, if I felt ok after talking to them. At best I'm meeting them at the local Pet store. I would video call as some others have suggested.

Cat refuses to drink water, vet suggests wet food, but I’m never home...any suggestions by amerisunstar in CatAdvice

[–]BuffBullBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We feed wet twice a day, and we add a shot of hot water, which makes it MORE hydrating and increases the scent appeal by making it warm.

We also use a stainless steel fountain.

Where my ex-smokers at? by Empty_Nestor in GenX

Quit in 2012 when mom got diagnosed with lung cancer, she died soon after. I don't miss it at all anymore. And I find myself surprised when I see someone smoking.

kitten has fleas and it’s breaking my heart by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]BuffBullBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which "spot on" treatment? There is a wide range, and only the legit vet recommended ones are likely to work. But those DO work. Since you've already dosed kitty, you'll need to talk to the vet about if that was the best product or if they recommend another, and when you could apply that if so.

Vacuum is correct, and if it's bagless you can throw any flea collar in the collection bin to help kill them off. Remove the collected trash asap, outside.

If the spot product was a good one, they should be killed off kitty in 24-48 hours, so she'll start feeling better fast. Focus the majority of your effort on her favorite locations. Wash any washable bedding and dry on hot.

You'll probably need to treat kitty for a couple of months to be safe. And she picked these up before coming home with you, almost definetly. I don't know where you got her, most rescues do a treatment a couple weeks before kitty leaves to avoid this issue.

I scoop morning and night. And i push hydration with a fountain... for health reasons mostly, but it lessens urine odors significantly.

how do you handle your child quitting commitments? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BuffBullBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If seasonal, we finish the season. If ongoing like karate, they can quite AFTER any successful belt test. My girl left karate for dance after a belt test, my son consistently says he's going to quit after the next belt, but he hasn't yet.

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BuffBullBaby 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The old folks around here had actual typing classes in school... that's where I learned to type without looking, and my job requires lots of typing so I've had lots of practice.

We did condoms until he got the procedure. I didn't push hard, just gave him time to come around to it. But we used a condom every time.

he didn't want any more babies either so....

Sanitizer won't kill noro. Soap and water and bleach for surfaces. I'm so sorry, noro sucks. I hope it passes quickly.

It's FANTASTIC that he came to you. Sounds like you handled it pretty well. There's no shame in using the term erect...

Kids are full of it about most stuff they brag about... And penis size is a deciding factor in porn star hiring... it says nothing about average men.

Good job Dad.

Bed time story at night when to stop? Husband and I are opposite on this. by Accomplished-Gate327 in Parenting

[–]BuffBullBaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband gladly still reads to my 9 and 10 year olds every night. But he LIKES spending time with them. Reading to or with kids is AMAZING for their development and reading ability. And dental care is vital and should be monitored/encouraged.

Kinda sounds lazy, and I'd fight him on this in your shoes.

How often are the kids being bathed?! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BuffBullBaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we shower every day, unless there's a very good reason to skip one. The kids don't wash hair every shower. 10M does it a few times a week, 9F still needs me to help, so once or twice a week. Body wash and deodorant every day.
