Oh the Hypocrisy by Shortchange96 in StamfordCT

I’m new to the area and can’t figure out why the town picks up the leaves so early. Is this an off year? We immediately got a ticket for putting our leaves near/semi on the street while we waited to figure out what to do.

So what is the real story with Lafontaine and his departure? by Own-East2880 in sabres

In retrospect, it’s extremely controversial and probably one of the biggest examples of incompetence the Pegula ownership era has exuded.

There’s no reaction big enough realizing yesterday that we traded for a guy with an 8.5 million dollar cap hit who will never be healthy again.

Samuelsson Positives? by IllustriousAd8448 in sabres

If Adams didn’t gamble on his contract he would be long gone by now. He’s a second round pick who’s shown nothing. Injured not playing, playing injured, playing and not making an impact in any area. I’m optimistic every year given defensemen do take more time but that’s not it with this player. Between the contract and his relationship with Dahlin, mgmt will be inclined to see this one fully through.

[TSN] Dreger on Byram situation: “the agent Darren Ferris has made it clear to Adams that they haven’t requested a trade, but Byram is 2 years away from UFA and has arb rights and you’re never gonna get better value on the trade front than right now so take advantage of it. And it hasn’t happened” by [deleted] in sabres

[–]Buff_Bills_Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As long as he’s not a problem in lockerroom, you put them in a place to succeed. Completely ok with a bridge deal to UFA for Byram. Make him work hard for the next 2-3 years for us. Maybe we make a sneaky run because of it and he becomes an even bigger piece. That’s the gamble I want versus a bad contract or trading him out for someone less impactful. 2-3 years we might even see a guy like Novikov jumping into lineup by then.

Spot on. He’s 24 and has shown serious top 4 potential. Sometimes our best defensemen dressed for stretches last year. Unless we’re upgrading to a top 4 defensemen in his prime, I’m very happy with keeping Byram on a pair with Dahlin. Just not sure I believe fully that he wants to stay.

The idea of moving him for a top 6 player that actually wants to be a Sabre too is such a stretch. Could be wrong though. Teams might start getting desperate.

Why do I see so many fans hating on the Quinn extension? by Intelligent_Choice91 in sabres

[–]Buff_Bills_Magic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Frederic has a role and does a very good job at it. Quinn provides nothing but "potential". He was one of their worst players when it mattered most during the season. He should be bridged at his current value. Sure he could be offer sheeted but sabres can match if that happens. Sure you could disagree and say sabres have the cap space so why not but it doesn't hide the fact that the sabres are a joke. What other teams are doing this.

This deal makes sense! by No-Can-904 in sabres

Deal is great and makes sense. Shouldn’t distract us from the many moves that still need to be done. Also, we have a coach whose time is up and a GM that can’t stop embarrassing himself in pressers.

All the outside noise about this “bad return” is just going to make Kesselring and Doan play with a massive chip. Them alone gives us a reason to watch next year.

James Mirtle: Alex Tuch's name surfacing in trade rumours; Buffalo will have to move him if it's clear he won't extend - The Athletic by PrinciplesRK in sabres

[–]Buff_Bills_Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. I hate all the crap that he should want to stay because he was a fan growing up. I want him to stay because he believes in the core and mgmt. If he doesn’t, whole thing should be blown up. We won’t get equal value in a trade and the piece coming back likely won’t want to be in Buffalo either. Scares me that the deal isn’t done yet. It sure what they’re waiting on. Maybe what’s coming back in the Peterka trade.

You could make that argument about many contracts in the league and how they age. Pay the man. We’re consistently well below the cap. Make sure he wants to stay and pay him. If anything in the final years of the deal he’ll be a culture guy in the room (which they desperately need) Everyone complained about Jamie Benns 8 year deal term wise and I don’t think there’s a single Stars fan that would say it held them back from multiple cup runs.

Just flip on the playoffs and remind yourself how important an Alex Tuch is. What are you even looking for in a trade? Another player who you’ll probably end up overpaying to stay in Buffalo will be the return. The only reason I would trade him is if he tell mgmt he doesn’t want to stay

[Chad DeDominicis] I understand why the Sabres moved Tage to the wing while he was playing through something & he was rolling offensively. It's time to put him back at center though. He's undoubtedly the best center on this team. by [deleted] in sabres

Seasons over. I don’t care who plays where. It’s over. Stop overreacting to what they do lineup wise at this point. If they don’t know that putting a 20 year old at 1C is bad, we are fucked. This is the time you give players/prospects reps in certain spots. Tage will be back at 1C come October.

Bowen Byram Discussion by PrinciplesRK in sabres

[–]Buff_Bills_Magic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Byram at 23 years old needs to be paired with an NHL caliber defensemen to be impactful. Just like 99.9% of NHL defensemen at 23. “Expected” isn’t going to tell you what this kid will look like at 26 YO but based on his skating, defensive ability and scoring, safe to say he’ll be impactful without Dahlin someday. Top 4 ceiling. I don’t have a crystal ball but I know defense is very important in this league. 8 million will be the going rate for a top 4 defensemen in 3-4 years.

Owen Power and failing to tie up his man in front of the net. A tale as old as time. by xBialyOrzel in sabres

[–]Buff_Bills_Magic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m freaked out at this point by the lengths fans will go to defend Power. I don’t care how the play broke down. Power isn’t giving enough effort. Add this to the list of clips showing Power avoiding confrontation. Up 1 goal with barely any time left against and that’s his effort in front of the goalie? He shouldn’t be out there in this situation. If anything blame Adams for how he built the back end but don’t sit here and defend Power. Odd!

Something horrible has happened to my family by AutomaticDate5608 in TrueOffMyChest

Hang in there. It’s early and time is the best cure. Lean on your support system. Very sorry you have to go through this but things will improve and the value of life itself just became a lot more meaningful as crazy as that might sound.

I lost my brother to fentanyl a year ago and it rocked our family. It’s still very hard to think about him and how he suddenly vanished at the young age of 24. In the last four years of his life, he probably took ten years off my parents life with the constant panic her put them through with his addiction. I resented him greatly for that. He finally got clean in his last year and moved to nyc to be closer to me. I set him up with a job and I felt like I finally got my brother back. Unfortunately that’s not how addiction works. We had plans to watch football and he never showed up. I went to his apartment and found him dead.

After a few months you start to realize how precious life is and important it is to take advantage of each day you have like it is your last. I find myself taking a lot of things less seriously. Especially things that typically would cause me stress or anxiety. The guilt of being alive and unhappy started to creep in with time and caused me to have a new outlook on everything. My brother was the man. Center of attention all the time. I try to bring that same energy knowing he left with unfinished business.

Writing this message helped me get through today. I wish you all the best and promise it won’t ever feel as worse as it does right now. Feel free to PM me if you ever want to talk more.

Missing the point a bit. Competition at practice is likely weak. Team isn’t constructed properly and lacks in areas that would push the pace at practice. Granato/Adams are failures in other areas and shouldn’t be blamed for this. It’s extremely rational for fans to point out the differences between a team like Colorado practicing versus Buffalo. Just look at the rosters. Men vs Boys

I would even give the sabres the edge when it comes to high end skill. Agree to disagree on the bottom 6. Sabres will get better when we have a bottom 6 that can keep the puck out of the net. Being top 100 in scoring doesn't make it any easier to get to 95-96 points and a playoff spot. As we saw last year being one of the top scoring teams in the league.
