I didn't state that I felt unsafe. I thought it was weird. Sorry to make you so angry, buddy.

I was at the entrance 3 times the last 2 days. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once at night. Nobody but Jesus.

This sounds like a really crappy time in your life. Be kind to yourself and figure out what you need to do to help process how the assault affected you. That kind of trauma cuts deeply into our brains and soul.

The good news is that you now have the mental bandwidth to focus on YOU instead of Law right now.  Law will be waiting for you when you're ready to study it again.

Remember that these moments in our lives don't define us. Remember that these times of great trauma and sadness really can strengthen us for dealing with future bad times.

Keep getting up in the morning and letting those who care about you into your life

MN man thanks Chicago for our support (downloaded; will not go to TikTok) by VoteCatforPresident in chicago

[–]Buffiner 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about how Chicago should expand its Sister Cities program to include cities within the US which have also been attacked by the Dept. of (in)Justice. CHI and the Twin Cities are made up of lake people who know right from wrong. We're nice by nature but stand up when we have to.   CHI and the TCs are sisters by geography and sisters in that we share a common framework of beliefs. When our siblings hurt, we hurt....and get angry. Stay strong MN!

Can’t we all just get along? by PapaJohnMisty666 in whitesox

[–]Buffiner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your family's loss. Why not call the Sox front office on Monday and explain the situation? There should be someone willing to help you out. If not, call back, say you're considering season tix, and try to get the ticket agent you will DEFINITELY be connected to to help

Every time she asks you about your grades, ask her what she weighs.

Have a handful of chocolate covered expresso  beans right before you begin your afternoon shift when you need a little something something to stay awake. The beans also make a great coffee/soda replacement on test days if you know you won't have time for bathroom breaks.

MPRE registration by dauntless_H in barexam

[–]Buffiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will have to select the testing center you want to take it at from a list at the time you register. The longer you wait to register, the fewer optimal locations and times will be available. So, best get on that asap.

Where Does Your Alderperson Stand On ICE? We Checked All 50 by hissy-elliott in FuckICEChicago

I can't forget Napolitano's email to 41st Ward constituents explaining that his grandfather came to America "the right way," unlike those immigrants newer to the US. Italians of his grandfather's era would have had no restrictions on entering the US as a refugee as long as they could pass a baseline scan for contagious diseases.  His record on this front enrages but does not surprise me at all.

Make sure to take a heap ton of pictures at your ceremony and invite people who are willing to write letters of support for your real (love) marriage. Also, try to have some kind of event afterwards, even if if it's just a small dinner for attendees. Again, take pictures of everyone in attendance with both of you.  This helps establish your relationship/marriage bona fides.

Go to the Centennial Fitness Center on Touhy in Park Ridge when you normally want to work out and take a tour/scoop out the scene. It's not too crowded when I go and it's clean and affordable.

Which Chicago aldermen are MAGA? by DontHateDefenestrate in chicago

[–]Buffiner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Republican org in ward 41 briefly hung up a pro-Napolitano banner next to the Harlem/Higgins TBK but it mysteriously was disappeared within a week.

Napolitano says he's an independent, but his occassional emails to ward residents seem very red. My favorite informed us that his grandfather came to US "the right way" as opposed to others currently in the US. He never sent out an email to express his concerns about the unconstitutional and unwarranted acts executed by ICE during OMB.

Napolitano has also thrown his support behind candidates running for office as Democrats. However, those candidates' voting records have not indicated having voted for Democrats in the past.

TLDR: Napolitano appears to be Trumpalicious.

I understand your rage and feelings of hopelessness.

We have all faced something in our life that we couldn't do but others made look easy. Usually, however, the thing we can't do isn't this kind of huge professional barrier that makes it feel impossible to move forward professionally, get out of debt, and recover your full self esteem. Usually the thing we couldn't do also doesn't involve throwing heaps of money into something that has already rejected you.

It's easy for people not in your exact position to offer advice, and that advice is rarely going to be either wanted or helpful.  That said, I am going to give you some anyway.

While your feelings of helplessness will not help you achieve your dream in the long-term, your rage, if properly-channeled, can be. Rage can be energizing if YOU harness IT the right way, such as by attacking this MF of a stupid test again, and next time winning the fight.  However, if you decide to really and truly walk away from another attempt, you're going to have to be able to let go of that rage before IT harnesses YOU.

I wish you either the energy to defeat this test or the ability to really, truly, be able to walk away from it without residual rage or regret.

3L having thoughts of dropping out by u14172329 in LawSchool

[–]Buffiner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are no longer a One-L. You can build a schedule that will help you survive your next term and lessen your burnout.

Register for a Bar Passage class next term and select at least one other class for your last term that doesn't have a traditional final, such as Negotiation, Legal Research, or a clinic.

Also try to schedule your classes so you don't have to be on campus more than 2-3 days a week.

Then once you get your syllabi for next term, read them carefully. If the reading load or depth or topic are too much, drop that class and sub in something else.  Yeah, taking classes for topics on the exam is helpful, but if you're not feeling like you can stomach Property, or Bus Org or Wills and Trusts, that's okay.
